After several posts moments of sitting in the observatory trying to sleep while she stares at the sun, Selene remembered something.

 

She was still hungry.

Selene suddenly comes sprinting down the hall, slowing down once she arrives. She pauses, looking at the ship just as the door closes... and then turns to Scarlett with a sad, sympathetic look on her face as she huffs and puffs from the exertion.

 

"I, uh... wanted to say goodbye... to them. I mean, I barely had any time to meet them, but at least they could use some sort of farewell, right?..."

 

"... Too late, I guess... D-does the offer for food still stand after I... yelled at you and stuff?..."

"The controls of this ship is no different than a standard aircraft you're use to. Dashboard layout is mostly the same, joysticks do the same. The only basic difference between this ship and the ships you know is the language it was written in. A little terminal on the middle of the dashboard will help you understand anything you don't know. It's mostly translated. I think I just need to finish the "In case of Emergency" section and the "overview of the Dashboard layout." Maybe I should have prioritised that second one a bit higher. Doesn't matter, you'll be fine. Also, watch your language."

"Specter's right. You don't have to cuss every dad-gum moment. But, for now, let's focus on escaping." Lightning turned to Solar and Amber and saw them flirting. As usual, he thought. He noticed some glances from some of the other ponies. Lightning took the two aside. "Look, I love you guys, but tone down le flirting. I can't help but feeling that you two might get on somepony's nerves, and the last thing we need are tensions running high. Could y'all do me that favor?" he whispered.

For the first time during this whole ordeal, I genuinely smiled. Even after all of this bullshit, she still retains her innocence and adorable nature. "Yes Selene, we can get you some food. It's not like we're going to have a use for it after the next hour or two." If flame didn't take off now, they would die as well.

She pauses at the bit about not using it, coming over and leaning on you in the equivalent of a platonic hug.

"It's okay, Scarlett. The worst that can happen now is if we let our last moments be negative, right? It's not like we weren't going to die eventually, anyways. All that matters is dying in a happy place."

Solar smirked at the idea and hugged her marefriend back, resting her chin on top of her head.

"Well if they do, then I'm not putting them up for sale," she snickered, nuzzling her mane, "They're reserved for life, after all~"

 

Even after all this, she still smells amazing~

 

She overheard Spectre and Flame's conversation, unable to stop herself from smirking at the little sass-fest.

 

"Well good, because I'm never getting tired of 'em~" Amber grinned as she sat upright on her haunches to peer around at the disgruntled ponies who were currently sitting on the shuttle. None of them looked particularly happy to be alive, some even...upset. But Amber was determined to try and keep her spirits up. She didn't want to scare Solar anymore, and if anything, she wanted to put on a brave face for the other ponies escaping Destiny.

"Well good, because I'm never getting tired of 'em~" Amber grinned as she sat upright on her haunches to peer around at the disgruntled ponies who were currently sitting on the shuttle. Everypony looked so... down. And to be honest, she couldn't blame them. Trapped in the middle of an unknown galaxy, leaving seventy ponies behind to die...

 

She shook her head and put on another grin for Amber, to keep her hopeful.

 

 

"Specter's right. You don't have to cuss every dad-gum moment. But, for now, let's focus on escaping." Lightning turned to Solar and Amber and saw them flirting. As usual, he thought. Both of us are just a little stressed and scared right now, as are everypony else I'm assuming, so if you don't mind, let us have this. We'd like to keep ourselves calm and under control."

 

Her eyes narrowed. "If anypony has a problem with us 'de-stressing', they're not being forced to watch, now are they?"

 

With that, she returned to sitting with Amber, nuzzling her gently.

"Okay then. I understand. No worries. I just want to make sure nothing happens to anyone, including you two." Lightning suddenly remembered an order he had given to Tuesday. "Wait. I just remembered something. Tuesday, status on process 64, priority Alpha." "Process completed 4 hours ago, sir." "And why didn't you remind me?" "You were busy at the moment." "Fair enough."

 

Lightning turned to Amber and Solar. "Remember how you mentioned Amber recovering from addiction? I might just have a solution, if you're willing to hear me out."

I managed to put on a fake smile as we walked to the soon-to-be-burnt-to-a-crisp storage room. We hadn't even unpacked anything. I navigated us to one of the crates and opened it. Protein bars. Yay. "Here we go. Protein bars galore. Some are even chocolate bars. What fun."

"Well we have plenty of time to discuss those points in more detail after we're out of here." Amber ruffled her wings and took a deep breath, breaking away from Solar and adjusting in her seat to get more comfy. "We're gonna get a nice place, get a ton of bits and be the sassiest elderly couple on the face of the earth, throwing bottles and dentures at the school ponies as they run on by from our balcony." She giggled, and couldn't resist giving Solar another quick peck on the cheek. 

 

Solar couldn't help but burst into a fit of laughter at the idea, especially at the fact that it was Amber coming up with it.

 

"I'm really rubbing off on you, aren't I?" She snickered, cooing from the kiss and returning one to Amber's cheek, "I am so down with that plan~"

 

 

Lightning turned to Amber and Solar. "Remember how you mentioned Amber recovering from addiction? I might just have a solution, if you're willing to hear me out."

"Eeyup. When Amber had that withdrawal attack earlier, I had Tuesday start looking up ways on how to combat opioid addiction. He finished up, and now I have various methods at my disposal. If things work out, she won't have the urge to inject again, so she can have a drug-free life from here on out."

Sapphire turned to look up at Lightning. "Yeah it dose count, but...I'd like more than one pony to actually like me..." As Lightning left to help the others, she turned back to Solar and Amber. "Maybe there is some luck for me after all, but anyway don't mind me I'm being silly..." A single tear came down her cheek, she quickly rubbed it away with a fore hoof of hers. "Something in my stupid eye."

 

"Hey Sapphire? You alright?" Amber only just really took notice of the unicorn's sniffs and brief glimpse of sadness. Her gaze turned away from Solar and Lightning to focus on the mare who now had her back turned again. "Look, I don't really know what to say. I mean, everypony wants to settle down with a significant other someday. I guess some are just..." She briefly turned to Solar. "...luckier than others. But ponies do like you here Sapphire and ponies will want to be with you, but it doesn't help if the only Sapphire they're seeing is the one who won't see that for herself. The Sapphire that we know and love would be strong at a time like this, and give ponies some hope. That's what you're good at, right?" She cocked her head to the side slightly, with a half-smile aimed at Sapphire.

Flame snorted before turning around to finish the task at hoof. A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead as he desperately raced to make sense what Scarlett and Specter said in his mind.

 

"Ok, so I'm supposed to........ Flip a switch?."

 

Flame recalled, searching anything that closely resembled a switch. Eventually finding some on the left side and quickly flipping them.

 

"Alright, so now I need to flip the switches above me."

 

He looked up, sure enough, there was a row of switch waiting to pushed. He did so and the ship began to move off the docking pad.

 

"Almost there don't fuck up now, um...um pull this lever and maneuverer the ship with the joystick."

 

He reached the lever with his wing starting the main engine as well as getting the ship moving at a rapid pace. He quickly grasped the joystick regaining control of the ship.

 

"I THINK I DID SOMETHING."

 

He shouted

Solar yelped and jerked a bit from the shuttle taking off, and swallowed.

 

Here we go...

 

 

Amber slowly looked around in what was almost like a state of shock. She could barely even breathe. "R-Really?" She stuttered, her wide eyes blinking. "He can cure my addiction? I t-thought that was basically impossible....at l-least, without having to continue on with the morphine for a while longer..."

 

"If it goes the way I'm hoping, you won't even have to look at morphine ever again," Solar said, smiling the widest she ever had since getting on the shuttle, "But, it's totally up to you. We don't have to do it this way if you don't want to."
