They already said "Fuck canon" anyways with Sunset having what amounts to a seventh element anyways :P

 

But she doesn't? It's just what Meghan McCarthy thinks Sunset would have if she were an Element of Harmony. It's not canonical.

Discordant by Ezra 09 takes place in an AU where Discord created the Elements of Chaos (IMO a WAY better season 3 opener than Crystal Empire)

 

In Princess Twilight (season 4 opener), at the end of part 2 the Tree of Harmony hinted that there would be more elements (3, IIRC).  But, if I had to pick I'd go w the Cutie Mark Crusaders, as junior Elements.  IMO, Starlight just hasn't shown enough to have earned it
