deletedaccount2 203 February 9, 2016 Share February 9, 2016 Hello. I see a lot of brony slang in the community, like "everypony" and the such. What are everyone's thoughts on it? It sometimes makes me cringe, but doesn't bother me greatly. 2 僕は日本語の勉強する。すれば、馬を話しない。 (I am studying Japanese. If I am, don't talk about ponies to me.) That One Techpriest You Used To Know 2,286 February 9, 2016 Share February 9, 2016 It sometimes makes me cringe, but doesn't bother me greatly. This is an accurate view of my opinion on the matter.
Moon Sugar 532 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 I came from a furry background so the lingo doesn't bother me that much. I can't really wrap my head around SSP's though. Is it supposed to be irl or just your characters? ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ☆★☆ It's you I love ☆★☆
WindShear 543 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 I have no problem with brony lingo. I can see how some people might think it is a little cringe worthy, but to me its all in good fun.
Metemponychosis 1,262 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 I use it when I'm talking about the show. For example, if I want to talk about all the ponies, I say "everypony". But not when I'm talking about people. Honestly, I don't care if people use it. It's a mark of the fandom and it's harmless. https://www.fimfiction.net/user/32864/Metemponychosis For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out. And I'm just getting started.
Wraith Stalker 55 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 (edited) I find it mostly harmless as long as you don't use the terms around anyone outside of the fandom. Edited February 10, 2016 by Wraith Stalker
Stormlight 1,371 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 Fandoms have their own slang that they create and use, and for me, I don't really have a problen for brony slang at all. Credit for signature goes to Eazyfries
Summer Breeze 2,528 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 I really like the special brony words since my boyfriend is a brony too we use it a lot when we meet with our friend group, together with loads of show references we like to tease our friends a bit XD 1 thanks Pastel Pinkie for the amazing sign! and thanks icyfire888 for the super cute profile picture! PinkieatHeart 208 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 I love it! I think it's fun and fun to use. However, I haven't done much with the lingo lately, because I keep hearing about people who hate it, and I don't wanna be annoying.
Chuckles4lyfe 441 February 11, 2016 Share February 11, 2016 I've noticed over the years that many people don't use "brony lingo" as much as they used to. This is most likely due to the fact that we've been around for 5 years, and what was thought as hip and cool to say 3 years ago isn't so anymore. Take Dashies 20% cooler line for example. I remember Bronies quoting her all day everyday back in 2012, but if you bring it up now it's considered annoying and cringe inducing. Imo, It's pretty rare to see someone unintentionally use "somepony, anypony, and everypony" nowadays. Just my own 2 cents -_-. 1 #Squadgoals "But that day...The day I discovered racing...I proved that the legends were true. PacificGreen 1,163 February 11, 2016 Share February 11, 2016 (edited) A lot of it just makes me roll my eyes, like "plot" or "clop". Admittedly I use "plot" quite a bit when tagging on, say, Derpibooru. I also prefer not to (not saying refuse to) use phrases like "everypony" or "lend a hoof" in non-pony contexts, including these forums. It just sounds weird; I think those phrases are best used only in the ponyverse. KatonRyu 1,033 February 11, 2016 Share February 11, 2016 I absolutely detest the word 'everypony', both in-universe and out of it. It's entirely superfluous considering both 'everyone' and 'everybody' work equally well on ponies as they do on humans. It's not like we go around saying 'everyhuman' either. Aside from that, though, I think the memetic mutation of the word 'plot' is kind of funny, and 'clop' is quite creative. I'm sure there's more, but these are the ones I see most often, so yeah. Holiday Agnaktor 1,436 February 12, 2016 Share February 12, 2016 I really like the special brony words since my boyfriend is a brony too we use it a lot when we meet with our friend group, together with loads of show references we like to tease our friends a bit XD Can confirm. Brony lingo is the best when there are others who don't get it. There have been plenty of times where I just chuck pony references and brony lingo around in a non-brony group, and just watch the gears grind in their heads. :grin2: Awesome signature by FallenTrench People think my soul is filled with grey, but it's actually filled with rainbows! Detritus 258 February 12, 2016 Share February 12, 2016 I never use it, but I don't mind if other people use it. The only exception is when people use it out of context, like on a non-mlp forum. Then it makes me cringe a bit.
