Bronies-NYC Meetup Location In A Crime Filled Dangerous Area Again >:(

That's where I'm moving this summer. Zero state income tax. Just living in NY state costs you a year salary every 10 years or so. Not to mention very low cost of living with surprisingly fair wages. As a teacher, I can get the same salary, but can live in a house twice as big that costs less than the price of one here. I'm from San Antonio originally.

Totally lucky man, Enjoy freedom in the Untied States as NY might as well be its on repressive highly taxed European country and at least you can exercise your right to self defense without fearing the government charging you with a crime.

So you want 2 hang w/ the big Dawgz, huh???

Don't, if it's crime filled and at nighttime, don't do it because your life could be on the line.

Well they did it again, the bronies in charge of the meetup decided its a great idea to meetup in warzone east Harlem again. Guess me and other bronies will be missing out on this May meetup because we have brains and value living lol. Its sad as I and others wanted to go after missing the last one but sadly many bronies are not too bright regarding safety.

Did one of them move to Harlem or something? Again, out of all of New York City...there. Again.

I'm gonna hang out on my back yard deck in my Queens house and ponder this curiosity.

One of the main people, Keith, the one with Rainbow hair lives in Harlem with his partner I believe.

But yeah even superman stays away from East Harlem.

They should have it in Queens, where all the cool kids live.

Like me.

And this guy too  :twi:

Yeah, what most wrote. Shadow Temple is a flower field compared to any real life slum. Skip it, not even horse fan gatherings are worth risking your life  :maud:

This whole thing reeks of danger. Don't go. It's not worth risking your life over, and it's much safer to wait for meetups in safe areas.

@SilverStarApple, this place has a history of corruption and bad politics. Go watch 1776 and you'll see how incompetent New York state government is in one running gag, even since before the US was a country, or read up on Boss Tweed, Robert Moses, or the Second Avenue Subway and you'll see how incompetent and corrupted the city government is. I don't know how many of us can stand the current mayor anymore. He's hung up on special interests and fringe issues and very out of touch with the working people of this city. What sucks the most about the political culture here is how the people just accept it the way it is, arguing that everywhere else is a risky trade-off.

Tolerating incompetence from those above us seems to be a natural trait of New Yorkers, despite the "take no crap" attitude we're often associated with. Hence this topic. No one in that meetup seemed to care enough that it was a bad idea.

Idea: We get the military teammate friends of Military Bronies to patrol the streets of Harmel while this con is going on, if they don't want to go in or whatever but like how they'll probably get to shoot/kick the ass of any criminals that think bronies would be easy marks.

Also, idea: Start gathering friends together. Then form a "The current governments of the world suck ass, stop dicking around with special interest groups, stop bending over backwards to please the SJWs, stop giving your rich buddies free passes, and maybe you'll regain the legitimacy you currently lack" group.

This is the Daily Life in Harlem. Shootings and stabbings everywhere.

Has someone spoken to the organizers of the event? If it's a concern, speaking to them should be one of the first things to do.

Not yet that I am aware of, maybe some people who have meetup account or create a temp account and link this thread to them or at least send them a private message.

There's properly a very logical reason for the choice of location.

If you don't feel safe going to the meetup then stay home. Or get a few friends together and create your own meetup in a safer location.

There's properly a very logical reason for the choice of location.

From viewing the thread and my own knowledge, two possible reasons are location convenience and cost. Manhattan isn't cheap, but East Harlem isn't expensive. The big problem is the monthly meetup (including the latest one) is located in one of the most desolate areas in one of Manhattan's worst neighborhoods. To have a meetup there (and a few blocks away from an abandoned depot) compounds the danger.

Exactly, and this is what bronies will come to expect there. Not Very welcoming to normal people, can you just imagine what people in pony shirts, costumes, and colorful pony music blasting will attract.

Someone brave who can write a respectable PM should talk to Bill/Keith/Karen about this location. I can write respectably, but I wouldn't consider myself brave. I'm worried I will upset them still, regardless of how nicely I word it.

I think all someone needs to do is create an anonymous account and just link this thread to them.

Hey guys.

In regards to some previous responses to the topic, just want to give a friendly reminder that this is NOT the Debate pit and heated exchanges aren't going to be tolerated here. Remember to keep in on-topic and keep it friendly, lest this thread meet an untimely end. ;)

OK, I'm sorry, to meet-up in that area is the most retarded decision I have ever heard of. seriously Harlem is a death wish. WHO WAS BEHIND THAT IDEA OF A "SUITABLE" LOCATION???

This their will be other times to go to meet ups.

Are there any meet up's in California?
