Mary got up, and nodded. ​"Oh, yeah! Let's go! Wish us luck, Scarlett." ​She ran towards the judging area once again, and stood excitedly waiting for the results of the contest. "Denny come on!"

 

"Alright, I'm comin'," Denise smirked, and nodded to Scarlett, "Red, you comin' over? You can celebrate with me if I actually manage to win."

 

Flicking her tail, she walked back to the judging panel and stood next to Mary. "Well, here's hopin' a miracle happens for me."

"Eh, that would've been fun," Denise smirked, letting Scarlett go so she could meet Mary properly, "I've been fine myself. Shop's still standing, just showed my twiggy self off in the bikini contest, nothing big."

 

"Oh, you're not that twiggy." I said. "Have you met me? I'm pretty sure I'm the definition of twiggy."

​​JR meanwhile had stayed near the back of the beach and was feeling uneasy about the judge still. Something was definitely amiss here...

 

"Good luck guys! Or gals." I can never tell if people use guy as a gender specific term or a gender neutral term.

 

"Alright, I'm comin'," Denise smirked, and nodded to Scarlett, "Red, you comin' over? You can celebrate with me if I actually manage to win."

"Alright, then we'll be twiggy together," Denise smirked, and gave Scarlett a gentle punch on the shoulder, "Twig sisters for life, yo."

"Oh, don't trouble yourself on our account," she snickered, and nodded for her friend to follow, "Wish you joined as well. Imagine the three of us showing our bad selves off."

"Oh who am I kidding, look at me. I'm not that twiggy at all." I paused for a moment. "Neither are you. We're both close, but not quite there."

 

"Oh, don't trouble yourself on our account," she snickered, and nodded for her friend to follow, "Wish you joined as well. Imagine the three of us showing our bad selves off."

 

"Nah, just you two. I'm bloody fabulous~" I said, striking a pose for a moment before giggling a little. "Lead on, I'll follow. I can't wait to see who wins."

It made him happy to here that this person will be staying in his life, at least that's how it looked like. "Nice to know I've left such a good impression on you. After today then I really should take you on a day out around the town. Help you familiarise yourself with it. You should at least know the area in which you're staying after all."

"Nah, just you two. I'm bloody fabulous~" I said, striking a pose for a moment before giggling a little. "Lead on, I'll follow. I can't wait to see who wins."

 

She giggled and gave her a thumbs-up. "Damn right. Okay, wish us luck."

She followed Mary up to the judge's panel and stood next to her, hands on her hips. "I'm not holding my breath, but I'm sure you got this in the bag, Mar."

 

She watched the bunny woman, with a look of 'Don't screw me or my friend' in her eyes.

Savannah waited, shifting from foot to foot as she eyed the bunny woman. "Wonder how I did..." she muttered to herself. "Hope I did okay, I guess." She thought about earlier when the judge had laughed at two contestants. She thought, why would she do that? What was 'funny' about them? She scoffed. Rude.

Kerrigan was having difficulty maintaining her demeanor. This entire event was supposed to be a means of recreation, of "cutting loose" so to speak so that the town could bring in tourist dollars and the young people could unwind after the scholastic year had ended. There had been some aggressive competition, but that was normal for the demographic- this overt hostility towards authority, however, was something that rankled. Kerrigan was beginning to have second thoughts regarding any future investments in the festival.

 

Still, there had not been any fights or lewd behavior thus far, so in that respect it was a success. Perhaps she was expressing her own bias and seeing a problem where there was none. Or perhaps next year she would take over responsibility as event judge to prevent similar issues from cropping up again. Al the girls were aesthetically pleasing according to mammal tastes, so it would merely be a matter of picking one at random really. That seemed a more equitable option.

 

She waited, wisps of smoke winding their way out of her nostrils, with her forked tongue occasionally flicking out.

"We could've entered the bikini contest! Give ourselves some promotion. Feel sexy while doing it! But nooooo! We had to freakin hit up every single shop in town! What the f--k is wrong with you!?" Miko growled at her batty compatriot. 

 

"Hey what can I say? I like to shop. Besides, I prefer to observe than participate. Besides, maybe this is just a first round? Or maybe they're still accepting last minute entry's?" 

 

"I doubt it. You're making this up to me! I had the perfect outfit too!" 

 

"I'm sure it's a big step up from those denim panties and what's left of that halter top you're wearing." Ruby sarcastically replied.

I watched from the sidelines as the bunny person stepped up to hand out the information of whoever it was who won. I was hoping it was Denise, or at least her friend. "Come on" I mumbled to myself.

Blitz noticed Kerrigan out of the corner of his eye, but figured that it would be best to talk to get after the contest. Along with that, he didn't know how Apep would react to seeing him talking to another dragon and while he had talked to her, he didn't need any attention directed towards him.

Apep gave a silent hiss in a somewhat impatient manner as she waited for the rabbit to release the results. "Come on. Weren't they supposed to be released by now?" She thought.

Scarlet wasn't really angry. If anything, she was happy for both of the constants. "Well, that's the way the cookie crumbles." She thought to herself, before thinking about what she had seen between Apep and her boss. "I figured she would've had a bigger reaction to meeting him. Maybe she was just putting on a façade while in public."

 

Nero nodded slightly and smiled. He was glad that a reptile had won in a contest of only mamals, and began to think that perhaps that they weren't as prejudiced as he anticipated. Still, why would a city rabbit come all the way out here to plan a festival. A thought then crossed the snake's mind that made his eye ridge rise and then furrow  "If that is her game, then this town could be in trouble." He thought.

Huh, so she won, Kronos thought as he heard the results, Well then, I guess this competition isn't as superficial as I initially suspected.

 

"Yay," Blob cheered, "Our video game friend won. Did you hear that?"

 

"Yeah yeah, Blob, I heard." Kronos replied with a chuckle. He looked at Denise again and smiled.

 

He then thought to himself, Hmm, when the hell am I performing, exactly? What's the time even? I don't have a watch to speak of.

Apep's eyes widened in as she heard that she had won and felt a slight heat rise in her cheeks. While she could create works of art, there were times where she felt self conscious about herself. This only helped muffle that issue.

 

Blitz frowned slightly slightly when he heard that Apep had tied. While he was happy for his sister, he could tell that something was off with the rabbit's voice, even from the distance he was at. The dragon noted that fact, before moving a bit closer to Kerrigan. "Sorry about not coming to find you earlier. I had something I needed to take care of after the race."

"I don't like draws. They're really freaking stupid. There can be only one!"

"I'm not saying that." 

 

"Then what are you saying?" 

 

"I'm saying it's pointless to get worked up about it. The contest is over. Move on."

"No apologies are necessary. I noticed the pyrotechnics earlier, would it be a fair assessment to presume those were yours?" Kerrigan said, though her gaze never left the contest. It was odd to have a reptile finalist, when reptiles lacked the secondary sexual characteristics that mammals found most attractive, but she interpreted it as a positive sign of the increasing diversity among the populace. "I met your friend Scarlet earlier. I have the distinct impression that there is some tension between the two of you, or if not tension at least ambiguity. Perhaps the two of you should talk?"
