ManaMinori 4,145 April 19, 2016 Share April 19, 2016 Powerpuff Girls, Lilo & Stitch, and other beloved American cartoons have gotten anime adaptations from Japan. Vise versa, many well-loved Japan born anime have come to other countries. Let's face it, many people love anime, and no doubt a hefty number of BRONIES are anime otaku's as well. So would YOU want there to be an MLP anime? Interestingly enough, there was a Japanese exclusive MLP variant toyline made by Takara, way back along pony's root years, with anthromorphic pony girls, Milky and Pinky. Milky was the star (along with Pinky), and their baby sisters and friends were released in two types: Osharena Pony and Kawaii Pony. Though it exists as a variant toyline, it is still tied to MLP, in the same way that the Dream Beauties, and My Little pets lines are. I certainly wouldn't mind if the toyline was picked up again, and a "magical Mare Milky" anime stemmed from it, for starters. At least, to test the waters for Friendship is Magic bein adapted into an amime. I've been dying to see MLP in anime style, so this variant getting its time to shine would be perfect (still pony, and mlp related. No complaints from me)! Would a "Magical Mare Milky" type anime of an MLP Variant be something you guys would watch? Would you think it would take off? Or would you want to skip straight to a Friendship is Magic anime? Steve Piranha 29,428 April 20, 2016 Share April 20, 2016 Not sure if Neighpon would handle well MLP as an anime . I wasn't invested into anime adaptations of American cartoons, but I wasn't very fond of PPGZ (though, that might be the localization's fault). Then again, it could work, but they might flanderize our horses Sig by Discords

All Hasbro needs to do is contract the right studio, directors, and such, and ensure the anime's sucess, with reputable people behind it. Plonkett 345 April 20, 2016 Share April 20, 2016 (edited) I'd love there to be an MLP anime franchise that would take place in Equestria. We'd see more locations, characters, races, creatures, etc. On top of there being an interminable TV series, there would also be movies, OVAs, TV specials, short films, ONAs, etc. The TV series would have two types of arcs, smaller character driven arcs and larger arcs with more complex stories. There would be occasional special episodes that aren't part of the show's main episode list. The movies would be full length action/adventure stories. Some of them would have a short film on the DVD as a special feature, such as a backstory of the movie's villain. The OVAs would have stories longer than an average length episode, and would be the polar opposite of the movies. The TV specials would be stories that give background to certain characters and events shown in the TV series. The short films would be random stories revolving around certain events in Equestria's history. Think Snowdrop and Fall of the Crystal Empire. The ONAs would revolve around certain background ponies. Think Button's Adventures. There would be other things such as music videos, where the song tells a story. Think Children of the Night and Lullaby for a Princess. TerminalObsession 250 April 21, 2016 Share April 21, 2016 Isn't "anime" literally just "animation" but in Japanese? Isn't this whole question redundant? 3 Shoosh.
OrangeJackSparkle 2 April 21, 2016 Share April 21, 2016 No no and no. Both The Powerpuff Girls Z and Lilo & Stitch didn't turn out so good. I would prefer it if it stayed a cartoon
Wind Chaser 4,768 April 21, 2016 Share April 21, 2016 I'm open to the idea of any sort of alternate interpretation of MLP and I'm not going to shoot it down sight unseen. I don't know how PPGZ or the L&S anime did, but every show is different. As for the likelihood of this happening, it won't be anytime soon. MLP's Japanese marketer did a terrible job and FiM's Japanese dub failed after about 2 seasons. It would be possible only if Hasbro made another run with a different licensor. Rarity Is Best Pony 634 April 21, 2016 Share April 21, 2016 I'd be so down. I'm a huge anime fan so to see MLP drawn in that style would be a rather interesting experience.
cmarston1 5,959 April 21, 2016 Share April 21, 2016 (edited) Well the Powerpuff Girls also had 6 seasons, a theatrical movie, and Lauren Faust was involved in it somehow and it managed to get a magical girl anime due to being popular in Japan. So I don't see why MLP FIM can't get an anime. Plus Equestria Girls is basically asking for it to happen. Moony the Cat 3,702 April 22, 2016 Share April 22, 2016 I would love an Anime Version of Mlp. Why not? Whenever a Season of the original show is on Hiatus, you can just show the new season of the Anime Version. This way, we would have less breaks and more content. 1 Sig made by Kyoshi

I don't really think that there is a need for spin off. ccould be argued that there's really no NEED for anything that we have already, as it's all founded on pure, selfish WANT. So no, we don't NEED a spinoff anime. But it sure would be nice to have, because anime fans and pony fans might want it. And doesn't Hasbro WANT more money?
