Improv

Seeing as how there doesn't seem to be a place to talk about the performing arts, I figured I'd stick this here. For those of you who don't know, improv is a form of comedy where everything is improvised and often involves suggestions from the audience. There's a lot that can be done with improv such as short or long scenes, songs, etc. I'm an old hand at improv, and it's one of, if not the only art form I can definitely say I'm good at. Anyways, what do you guys think about improv? Have you ever seen it? Have you ever done it?

I've had a fondness for that type of comedy, but I don't think that I'm the natural improv kind of person. The first and last time I attempted in front of an audience, I was a nervous wreck.

I can get that. Improv requires some skill, and a sense of timing is good as well. You really have to be able to think on your feet.

I'm like GeekySonic, I love watching improv, like Whose Line is it Anyway or the old Comedy Warehouse at Disney World.

 

It impresses me with their fast wit. Not sure I'd be good at it, though.

I've seen it. Went to a show (if that's what they call it) on my 16th birthday and it was hilarious. It's crazy how fast they can think up stuff, I was impressed.

I do a lot of Improv in my drama class, and I normally do a lot of Improvisation when doing Roleplays and such. I can think of ideas instantly, thought the question is whether the idea is actually funny or creates my desired effect.

Why yes, I have done a bit... I not only did some feelance here and there, but I was part of a college improv club which performed at a number of conventions - I even got to sign autographs!  In fact, there is YouTube footage of me doing so; allow me to show you what I mean.

I spend more of my time behind a script, whether in theater, or voice-over. I'd try improv, but I almost guarantee it'd start going the more offensive route.

I was once very skilled in the art of Improv, people once told me. But as I grew up and started maturing as an adult, I found that with more order and structure in my life, it also became like that with everything else.

Whilst following a script can be useful, realistically being able to utilise both talents is what makes up great acting/comedy in my opinion.
