@@RealityPublishing,

It might need innovation but what Nintendo's doing isn't the kind of innovation we need. Especially when it comes at the cost of a console that can't even keep up with current ones for sheer lack of power.

Power? Why would you want extra power? Are you trying to mod the console to emulate? Are you trying to build a PC out of Nintendo consoles? Sorry, but that's not going to happen. Nintendo knows how to use their hardware and make something look good with minimal graphics. What is the kind of innovation we need? Would a new Metroid game be innovation enough to please you? Is it that we need a new flag-ship franchise? Something with guns?

It's the 9th Gen, so of course we're going to price it at 300 bucks. We've gotta make every bang for our buck! At least Nintendo isn't charging the poor fools for server use! (Not to mention raising it)

Oh, please; give me a break! The gaming industry needs innovation now more than ever! Oh? What's this? You want a PS4? Might as well get a PC! IT'S GOT THE SAME SPECS AS ONE! Optical Disk Drive? Check. Oculus Rift? Check. USBs? Check. Some crappy AMD GPU? Check. What more can I say?

I should be the one saying "Oh, please" - I never said anything about Sony or Microsoft consoles. Don't even get me started on PCs. They're a different world from consoles. I'll take consoles any day.

Hmm. . . come to think of it, the Nintendo DS was an innovation, right? Two-screens, the first to pull it off. Yes, what was it? 2nd best selling console? I guess innovation can really pay off.

I could not even possibly care less about what is the 'best selling'. If you want to mention a gimmicky console that has a large amount of quality games, you could have just gone with the 3DS, and I wouldn't be able to argue. The 3DS has so many good games. The DS was a lackluster console for me.

...But I resent the fact that you think that being 'best selling' is supposed to mean anything at all to me. Hint: It doesn't.

As for the rest of your post, I'm not even going to respond, really. It's all based on assumptions that I'm speaking of Sony and Microsoft consoles and their games. I'm not. I'm *actually* comparing to the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo GCN, which both focused on just being more standard consoles (they had some odds and ends for their time, but nothing like Nintendo's systems since), and they worked. Because the games were great, and rarely focused on gimmickry.

Now all Nintendo games are about is wagging around a Wii Remote for no reason whatsoever and Amiibos. Gosh darn Amiibos. Gimmickry, gimmickry every where. None of this is innovation that is fun. It is just innovation to be innovation.

So let's see, Nintendo 64 was a legend because. . . it was the first 64-bit console and it made good games for its time that still live up. Great, it was a new idea, good concept, first of its kind, and hard to replicate in 2016, got it.

GameCube. . . uh. . . had better graphics than the 64? Had connectivity to the GBA? Had a couple of good Nintendo games? Wind Waker controversy? A strange controller? (Still not as strange as the iconic three-handed 64) Smash Bros. Melee? Bad sales? Donkey Kong Bongos? I still don't understand the Gamecube, and in my opinion, the SNES held a better legacy. Nowadays, the only time people even think about the GCN is when talking of Smash.

The DS, like the 64, was an example that would evolve into the 3DS. We wouldn't have the 3DS if we didn't have the DS and the Virtual Boy (try getting that one out of your head). Yes, I will agree that the 3DS features many great games that are fun to return to, but it's important to remember that it too, started as a failure. We can't appreciate the 3DS without respecting the DS. (I still wish they had waited on that Super Mario 64 Remake). Oh, by the way, those Gyro cameras and 3D functionalities were pretty "gimmicky" too (only used in a handful of games). No console is perfect.

And just what kind of Innovation are you suggesting? Should we be suiting up for a fully-immersive Sword Art Online MMO? Should we be preparing for a DirectX 20 4DS-U experience? Since you don't like the whole, Amiibo "scandal" (which to be fair, it's a cheap way to make a buck, but cool in a collection), what would make you happy? The only reason the 64 was successful was because of the flag-raising feat of True 64-Bits. So with Moore's Law exhausted in the console industry, what is your next suggestion, Dr. Envy?

What's with the hatred toward PCs? Just because Ubisoft makes bad ports, doesn't mean all companies do.

It was great because it had good games. Not just 'good' games, but great games. Games that remain in my top list all of these years later. Games are what make a console.

You keep on bring up sales. I don't care about sales. Sales do not have anything to do with the quality of a console. There's so much more to the GCN than Melee. Just off the top of my head I think of Animal Crossing, Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, etc. And IMO, of those three titles, only one has since been bettered - Animal Crossing with New Leaf. Of course, that's IMO.

I stated that the 3DS was gimmicky, but was an example that Nintendo can still make quality games (although some series were like really bad on this system, can't win them all).

I'm not suggesting 'innovations'. I just want a system with a regular controller and games on par with N64/GCN.

What's with the hatred toward PCs? Just because Ubisoft makes bad ports, doesn't mean all companies do.

Again you're running off which assumptions. I don't bother much with PC gaming, because it costs too much for me. The only PC series I even play is The Sims, and since The Sims 4 is an utter waste of space, PC gaming is not even on my radar currently, and I couldn't be any happier about that.

However, we really don't need to go off on that tangent. Please don't. I've had enough of that subject.

Well, with the "Wii" Title out of the NX (From what we've heard, Nintendo may be keeping that name), we can hope Nintendo ditches the Motion control for good. (Wii? Wii U? Both with Motion sensor? It's a fair assumption) It was a fun little quirk for the early 2010s, but it's hardly interesting for the newer generation. I think one of the better proofs for this would be in Zelda:BoTW. It seems they've already abolished the Wii-Mote sword swinging, so that's a good sign. We'll just have to wait an extra 24 hours.

The lack of power is precisely the reason why the Wii-U failed. All of the biggest and brightest games were put on other platforms because the Wii-U didn't have the power to play them. We're not just talking about multiplatform games but most new, big games. Instead the Wii-U mostly gets the first party games and the few third party brands the Wii was familiar with.

@@RealityPublishing,

Having a legit controller is a plus but if it's not sold with the system they're already going down the same stupid path as their last two consoles.

And nothing in that video really showed what kind of power it has. Nintendo first party games always look better than most other games. It's their console so they know how to use it to the fullest. We'll see when people actually start making games for it whether it has the power to be worthy of third party attention. Otherwise it will just be another Wii-U.

Well, you can actually determine the power of the hardware based on the games featured, that mainly being Skyrim: Legendary Remaster, which specs are already revealed. Not to mention the hardware featured have already been leaked to the public.

Can we all just appreciate what Miyamoto has given us for the moment being?

@@RealityPublishing,

I'm not even against the console but I wouldn't get it for multiplat games. I already have a PS4 for everything else. As with the Wii-U I'd want it purely for exclusives, which is part of why it needs more third party support. Getting a couple of no-name sports games and a remake of a game that's not even six years old and wasn't even very good in the first place is not a promising outlook on that front.

The portability is a big plus for me. The gamepad was great, like the time I played my Wii U on the bus to Baltimore for Bronycon back in July, but it was a bit too much. This looks very lightweight and much more portable than the Wii U. I don't know what the deal is for backwards compatibility, but I'm really looking forward for it.

Also, I saw the Basketball game that looks like 2K17, the most recent game, but was that really Skyrim?

Yeah, and you can tell it was the remastered based on the different lighting settings. The gameplay looks "bronzed" which wasn't introduced until this year (unless you used mods).

For 300 bucks, I am definitely looking forward to this! A portable TV with a charging dock the size of a PS4 Controller charger? SIGN ME UP! Also, did anyone notice the cordless setup? Pretty swanky!

I'm on a wait-and-see plan for now; I'm definitely curious, but I am much less concerned about the power or innovations. I just want some good games, and while there were some on the Wii U it seemed lite in under-performed in that area for my specific tastes.

We'll see; I'll remain optimistic to a point. :)

As a gamer, I think it definitely looks interesting. Personality, I can't say I care much about the portability of the console, but I know other gamers probably will.
