How often does your OC lie?

Being so close to the Apple family, my OC is actually rather honest, but he's not above sugarcoating things to spare ponies' feelings. But in certain cases, such as if a pony somehow suddenly comes into money and the power starts going to their head, he won't sugarcoat at all to send them crashing back down to Earth, and it can be absolutely BRUTAL.

Mesme almost never lies. And if he does, he just does it in a playful, sneaky manner. :P

Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. smile.png

Please, don't be afraid to talk to me. I am not as unapproachable, as you might think.

My OC doesn't lie.

Mine don't ever lies.... as a foal at least. As he grows up (due to the nature of his job), he changes, though he rarely outright lies, but he tells half and cryptic truths

He doesn't really lie at all. He'll either look at a situation from a different point of view or just tell the truth. Sometimes when he does tell the truth, it can be rather hard to bare. He's not trying to be a jerk, he's just that honest

He doesn't lie, depending on the situation he can be blunt but there are situations in which he attempts to be gentle. Either way he will relay the truth regardless of what it is.

Depends on who he's talking to. If he's talking to friends, he'll be as honest as they want him to be. However, if he's a hostage situation, ie taken captive or prisoner, he'll tell his captors lots of BS and would strangely sound rather convincing. Only those who know Kronos very well would tell if he's lying.

Also, in terms of how honest he could be, he'll typically be rather blunt and straight to the point.

Very, very rarely, if ever. He's a lot like me in that he favours honesty as a personal rule, but that doesn't keep him from lying to himself from time to time.

My OC is big on lying through omission, so if that counts he lies pretty often. He's kinda secretive and doesn't like people in his business, so he keeps most info to himself and won't tell people things he doesn't want them to know

"Just because something isn't a lie does not mean that it isn't deceptive. A liar knows that he is a liar, but one who speaks mere portions of truth in order to deceive is a craftsman of destruction."

- Criss Jami

Famine holds himself to a high moral standing. He believes that every lie that crosses his lips is a stain that can't be washed away. However when working an occupation like his he knows the value in silence and therefore knows to hold his tounge when dealing with sensitive matters. In such cases he'll over look his morals and merely stretch small portions of truth in order to misconstrued the details.

Well said Famine.

Lies are most often sourced from fear. Good ponies do it when they're afraid of an undesired outcome. They manipulate each other because they fear punishment, banishment, loss of respect, or whatever. Sometimes they repeatedly put themselves in an avoidable situation due to lack of self control, encouraging them to lie to cover for it, and denying to themselves and to others their true... if pathetic... nature.

Calculated manipulation is a possible reason for an evil pony to do it, but they can engineer the reality they want without having to lie. It's almost always a choice they make, but ponies... like people... are unpredictable elements and thus their manipulation falls short of being a science.

It's a stylistic choice. Regent doesn't think about this sort of thing, and he doesn't condemn it. He's very direct by nature, not because of a moral code, but because his brain's energy is spent not on being a chess grand-master, but on technological invention. Science and technology will set the world free from the reign of superstition and magic. All Regent has to do is get to work.
