As gaming has advanced throughout the years, the technology has gotten better and better. With better technology, comes increased visual fidelity. With increased visual fidelity, comes the Bit Wars of the 90's. XD Still, each system in gaming has had their fair share of games that show of their graphical prowess. Even if the game wasn't good, if the graphics were top notch, it can still leave a huge impression.

So what I am asking today is this: For any game system ever, what are some games that you think were visually impressive for that particular system? Can be for any game console ever so have at it! This will be fun to see the answers. :)

I personally always thought that the Donkey Kong Country series on the SNES did an amazing job at showing what the SNES could do, with its silicone graphics that looked incredible for the time and its scrolling.

Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 for the Wii

RE4 and Twilight Princess were mindblowing on the GC at the time

Most games on the Xbox looked better than almost anything else at the time

The Golden Sun series on the GBA

On the Dreamcast, I would say it's a tie between Dead or Alive 2 and Sou Calibur.

On the Xbox 360, I think Gears of War is one of the best looking games.

On the PS3, I think I would say The Last of Us.

I think Rayman 2: The Great Escape looked really good for a PS1 game.

But I don't own a PS1, or have played any games on it, so I'm probably wrong. :adorkable:

Dishonored 2 also looks really good, even though it isn't even out yet.

Look at this, man! It's gorgeous!

I just want to mention this game, because it's the best looking game I've seen so far, and you didn't say I couldn't mention modern games. :toldya:

If I remember correctly this game is for the PS4, XBox One and PC.

The original Star Fox for the SNES. That game was very impressive with what it does. It handles nearly full 3D polygonal graphics, which is unheard of for the system. It is in fact the only released game for it to do that. There was going to be a sequel for the SNES, but wasn't released officially. It is still possible to obtain the rom and play it though, and that game is quite impressive too.

Even if it looks simple now, it still shows what they were capable of.
