gaming How are your thoughts about Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?

Hoooooooo boy.

Okay, I loved Black Ops 1 and 2, especially 2. Black Ops 3 showed me that this series is being drowned in a sea of greed by Activision and Infinite Warfare is the pinnacle of this.

With Infinite Warfare, Activision is deploying insanely greedy and horrendous tactics that are just a huge slap to the face to fans of the series. Locking Terminal AND a zombies map behind the pre-order, lying to fans when they said the game will be 'feet on the ground gameplay' when the game is actually like Black Ops 3.5, locking Modern Warfare Remastered behind Infinite Warfare, and so much more beyond that. The game still looks no better than advanced warfare graphically and it looks generic as hell to me. Oh yeah, and it will have micro-transactions with a $50 season pass without dedicated servers, as always, because I guess Activision just doesn't want to spend the money for dedicated servers.

If anyone is excited for this, I don't want to dampen that, but personally, I want this game to fail, hard. A series I once loved is now being destroyed by Activision and their greed. Those are my thoughts on it.

Actually zombies map isn't locked behind pre-order. And they've never said that it will be boots on ground gameplay, they've already confirmed it in the end of May that it will pretty much have the same movement of black ops 3. Actually, it was their only chance to lock MWR behind IW, mainly because:

  1. They must have 1 new game every year.
  2. Infinite Warfare sales would drop down.
  3. MWR is just a bonus for the people who buy the Season Pass, aka Digital Deluxe Edition.
  4. They've been kind and even gave people the choice to buy it without buying Season Pass.

The fans trolled the devs so hard in every year. They never get satisified by every thing. Fans in 2013: "This is stupid, same thing every year, and literally copy-paste. Quit this reskining fest, we want something new. Fans in 2016: "This is stupid, COD has changed too much. This isn't COD anymore, we want old COD back!". Good job trolling the devs that things aren't going their way. Well guess why these fans are so impudent and finical, it's because the devs treated them kindly every year and made everything that the fans desired. It will be the same every time, even if a WW2 game comes out, ppl will still find something to shout for: "Wow look at this, we used to be flying spaceships...what is this retarded donkey riding idiocity? Freaking panzers??!!!". As always.

COD is a game, that makes you don't give a damn about the setting. Fans forget that it's not COD's original setting cuz COD decorates the setting, which makes the setting feel more fun, and feel a basic COD gameplay. That's why COD sometimes can spoil video game tastes for certain people. People can see IW, like it, play it and become a fanboy of futuristic setting. "Wow, you can do dogfighting and stuff, grapple...but...I like future games now right? How come I can't feel like playing any other futuristic games now? I feel the absence of the features and aspects that COD brought with it to the future setting..."

So I'd like to address to people...

Guys...you can't decide what's COD's true and original setting, you can say it's ww2, but modern setting became a very popular setting for COD, you can't say modern either cuz it used to be a ww2 game, and people started to complain about it being a copy-paste and modern setting being too much. And now future, and you still hate, they tried to innovate the gameplay and setting just cuz you asked so, cuz you complained about it being same every year, and now you turn and say "Meh, it isnt COD anymore. We want old COD back". And to be honest, no fan asked BF to go to ww1. The fans just sit and watch how the devs push theirs. But in COD, fans became very impudent and fastidious, which was caused by the devs listening to every fan, and let the fans to pull the franchise, and they pulled it to this...

That's where generosity gets blamed...

One guy could shout "I want COD to be out of milky way galaxy!!!" and the next year, COD releases an Infinite Warfare 4, fighting with Aliens.

That's how I backed up the fact that devs aren't to blame to...

Now I want to back up my opinion.

I honestly start to love every setting and theme that COD takes itself to, I hated space themed stuff, but when IW trailer was released, now I praise it. I even hated modern stuff, i mostly liked ww2 back ago. COD revolutionized the setting, and my interests got revolutionized as well. And I lost my tastes about video game genres too, mainly because COD steals it. How? COD has unique aspects and gameplay mechanics, which the devs bring to every title but with setting and theme changes...but the settings and themes don't mean anything, especially in COD, COD is special with its gameplay. So everytime I try to find a game that is similiar to a specific COD title, I fail. I do find futuristic, modern or ww2 games (based on the COD title), but I still feel the absence of COD's mechanics, gameplay, aspects, features and techniques. That's why I stick to COD.

So it pretty much sums it up. After all that, it's obvious that Activision would do that just to make the spoiled fans suffer and have a taste of their own medicine.

I support this game in anyway I can, and even if I get bored from this, and move on, I will always remember how this game shined for me. After all the defense I've done for this game in the internet, talked with retarded people and all that......I think it would be wrong to stand aside. No matter what happens, November 4th  will be my best day of this year.

The franchise has completely run its course. Time to move on to the next yet Activision just continues to abuse the franchise because despite its popularity, the community itself has become toxic, and the franchise itself is becoming a hollow shell. Like Kyoshi said, this game is bound to fail due to the prevalence of microtransactions and lack of dedicated servers, which soon follows hackers wreaking havoc.

Also, if you show support to the game, then you're also supporting a greedy company that wants your wallet and nothing else. You're basically gonna be bleeding yourself dry from their endless greed.

CoD these days is a summary of what is wrong with the gaming industry today. The idiot fanboys that pre-order everything, even though all anyone has seen is some bullshit announcement trailer, with the game-imbalancing and stupid pre-order "bonuses". Seriously, for Black Ops 3 last year, they had a fucking mini fridge with the game plastered all over it as a pre-order package. A greedy publisher that only cares about their own bottom line every quarter, so the product suffers. And every year, it's just a copy-paste of what the other studio did last year.

And people just cough up $60+ every year...

For anyone reading this, and you buy into this every year, YOU are part of the problem by enabling this behavior.

EA may be just as bad as Activision, but I hope Battlefield 1 destroys Infinite Warfare in sales, maybe it'll get Treyarch to actually make a real improvement for next year's game.

I personally think Activision has taken the horrible cake from EA these days. EA still is not great but Battlefield 1 looks awesome and they let everyone try the beta for like, a week. Activision only let's people that pre-order their precious game play the beta and even then, the beta only lasts a few days and the game has already gone gold anyways so the beta doesn't even matter, it is just a marketing gimmick. Sure, the BF1 beta could have been a marketing gimmick, but at least they let everyone try it.

Activision is doing so many horrible things with CoD now and other games that I am not sure how anyone could support them. I mean, they announce each CoD game now WITH the season pass! So they announce the season pass a year before you will even see any of that DLC. It is insane. I hope the game fails, hard. Activision is pretty much putting all of their eggs into the CoD basket now as every other game they publish they just push out the door when it is not even close to ready, so CoD gets all the money. Yet, it is still the same, mediocre game every year.

I'm not the biggest fan of COD and I usually skip games here and there but I will be getting IW. Having said that though it isn't because I really want to play it but because I just need a new game to play and for $80 I get two games that will at least be fun but not groundbreaking or anything like that.

And let's be honest if IW sucks then at least we get the awesomeness that is COD 4.

Was kind of interested when I saw the trailer with Kit Harrington, but then I saw the game's egregious file size and that you have to download the MW remake which would all just kill my PS4 hard drive so I'm gonna have to skip it for now lol, was never terribly into CoD anyway... :P

I'm not a Call of Duty fan, don't mind them, just not comparable to Arma for me. But I would like to know, does anyone still remember Finest Hour? I played that game, remember the first mission even. I honestly expect some people have never even heard of it. I wouldn't be surprised if some people googled it looking for a release date because they think it's another new one

Okay, so some people on my Xbox Live friends list have been playing the beta for this game. With that, they have been recording clips of it as well. So, I have been doing some watching of these clips to get a good idea for what the game is like.

What did I find? BLACK OPS 3, Seriously, this game is just a copy and paste job of black ops 3. The movement system is identical, the winners circle thing is identical, the characters once again have specific abilities, the characters are preset, and pretty much all of the in game animations are exact.

I was honestly stunned. It looked a lot like Black Ops 3 in the trailers, but I actually did not expect it to be nearly identical to Black Ops 3 minus cosmetic differences. So yeah, this is just a copy and paste thing from last year's game. Minimal effort for maximum profit. Considering Black Ops 3 absolutely sucked as well, I don't know why they would want to copy it in the first place. Also, this game clearly is once again setup for the bullshit microtransactions that Black Ops 3 had, with odds of getting a new weapon being fine tuned to be as low as possible. And yet, some people wonder why I think this game will suck and why I hate Activision so much.

It is funny too, Activision is advertising Modern Warfare Remastered far more than Infinite Warfare itself, that should explain a lot.

It's a shame what COD has become. I used to love MW2, I'd play it every afternoon with friends and it's the first game I could say I had a passion and obsession with. But these latest games have ruined it for me. It doesn't feel like the same, fun game anymore. Microtransactions depict the greed of Activision, and the community has become as toxic as League of Legend's.

As for gameplay, Black Ops 3 does its job. I cannot find many things to complain about and I've had a lot of fun watching this year's CoD Championship. Personally, I am not a big fan of the super-future themes and I don't like the thrust jumping. However, there are many people who don't mind it and I think it has given the series an interesting new aspect. I think it looks fun and I certainly would've bought it if I didn't have to get a new console to play it. As for DLC, Season Passes, Supply Drops etc, I do agree with most people that they are doing it wrong. I do not support their overpriced products nor the childish camos that come with the dlcs. I also don't like the silly gestures the characters do when you win. It makes it feel less like playing a game about war and more like playing war in a game. This isn't really something that affects gameplay though so I don't care all that much.

Infinite Warfare looks decent so far. Better than expected, to be honest. I do not like the fact that it is a BO3 clone. Even though I and most other people hated the idea, I actually believe the game would've been better off going all out with the space theme. Low gravity maps, more future-ish weapons and so on. Now when they hold back because of the future hate it just became a third version of advanced warfare. Kind of sad. Either way I think it looks fun and I definitely would play it, even though I don't like the future setting. Sadly, I'm not excited to the point where I would buy a PS4 or XBO just to play it.

I love that they have released cod4 remastered, but I'd have to buy an xbox and infinite warfare just to get it and that's just not worth it in my eyes. I'll be sticking to Black Ops 2 (my favorite cod so far) for the time being until they release a World at War 2 or something. Now that would be sweet.

What endless greed if I am the one to choose what to buy? I really don't understand how people always say that. Do they force you to buy a triple digital deluxe edition with double price? You buy what you want. I loved the game and pre-ordered it.

CoD these days is a summary of what is wrong with the gaming industry today. I don't feel like I'm part of any problem, because I don't care how much Activision gets or doesn't. I'm not their caretaker, nor hater. I loved their game, and I pre-ordered it to have fun myself. That's it, I only care about myself in this matter. Should you not enjoy something just because others are taking profit of it?? I don't care about them.

Unlike most people, I just get MWR only as a bonus, to play MP ( I haven't played mp) and of course, to get Season Pass.

I never play COD games but I can't play Infinite Warfare as COD is Awful!

Then you definetly should because people are complaining about IW not being true to COD.

Absolutely zero hype for this game, and I'm usually one who gives these games a chance, but considering the last few campaign modes have been lackluster(haven't heard good things about Blops III and AW, but I hated Ghosts), and considering that all I ever hear about IW is bad news, there's no real incentive for me for picking it up.

I'm mainly excited for MWR, but I am not paying $80+ for a remaster

The main reason is because fans were asking for COd not chnage too much, and they decided to make it identical to past previous games. And actually, the 3 games of the cycle were immediately burst into production, having some similarties, that includes the time setting and all the supply drop stuff. It's not judgable until we see COD 2017.

Oh, it is still entirely judgable. If the system sucks, it sucks and I have now played the Infinite Warefare beta since they made it open to everyone for like, a day and my god, it is boring. It is literally a copy and paste job of Black Ops 3 and everything is as pointless as ever. So my suspicions were spot on for me.

Advanced Warfare is my favorite CoD of this gen.

Infinite Warfare feels like Blops 3 but faster.  I have a lot to say really.  I actually feel the bulk of the games issues could be solved with longer time to kill.

I'm not bothered by the space thing.  CoD has never done space combat, at least, not a central focus.

The maps are hit or miss.  They kind of remind me of Modern Warfare 3 which was very cluttered and corridor-based but great for twitch shooting.

Right now it's looking to be my #3 shooter.  With Overwatch #1 and Modern Warfare Remastered as #2 and my go to CoD this year.

You msut not have played Black Ops 3 then because IW and BO3 are nearly identical in gameplay and visual presentation.

I also noticed in the beta that the maps are all static, boring. Advanced Warfare at least tried to mix things up with that and make some of the maps dynamic. Infinity Ward seems to be taking yet another step back.

Another thing I find funny is how blatant they were in the beta with the microtransactions that are going to be in the game. Another copy and paste from BO3, this yearly $60 game with a $50 season is going to have immensely expensive micro-transactions and the system seems identical to BO3. Pretty much every single negative thought I had towards the game was confirmed by the beta. Activision is just being Activision, greedy beyond compare.

That's your taste which I'm not against. But uh, I don't care about activision, and I've played bo3 so much that I'm very bored of it and feel cancerous and just waste of time while playing it. So much that I want IW very much, even ignoring how it copies, because I want something fresh. Also, the maps are mostly something what i've asked for so far. And I've never seen any COD game that has no loading screens and brings back classic weapons (and pls, i don't want to continue what they've done the best).

The idiot fanboys that pre-order everything, even though all anyone has seen is some bullshit announcement trailer

For Black Ops 3 last year, they had a fucking mini fridge with the game plastered all over it as a pre-order package.

For anyone reading this, and you buy into this every year, YOU are part of the problem by enabling this behavior.

1. This is offensive. Who are you to judge people for pre-ordering? If a person enjoyed the previous game very much I don't think it's weird at all that he would buy the new one before anything is shown. Since Call of Duty apparently changes so little from year to year, one can expect the feel of the game and many elements to stay the same for the next installment. A lot of people here on MLPF have probably already got their hands on tickets for the PonyExpo, even though we literally know nothing about the convention except for its location.

2. This comment makes it look like you have no clue what you're talking about. That wasn't a fridge full of advertisement on it, it's the JuggerNog fridge from Call of Duty Zombies, the most iconic object in the entire Zombie series. It's rare merch, I'd buy the fridge alone.

3. If I as a customer very much enjoy their games, how am I a part of the problem? Should I just stop buying the games simply because I dislike the publisher's behavior? It's not fucking mandatory to get any of the DLC or even the games themselves for that matter. If I think the deal is fair and the price is worth the content, I'll get it. If it's not, I won't. Did you ever hear someone say "Oh damn, this Infinite Warfare looks like crap and it's a hundred dollars, I really don't want it. Welp, guess I'm gonna buy it anyway..."? No? I thought so. I'm so sick of this kind of view. No, I don't support their shit but I'm not willing to stop buying their games because of it. No, I don't like Google's spying but I'm not gonna stop using google because of it. No, I don't like H&M's children slavery but I'm not going to stop buying their clothes because of it. It's like that "Will you press the button" game. There's a button with something good and something bad happening. Sometimes you value the good over the bad, sometimes you don't. You buy Coca Cola? OMG U CARIES SUPPORTER!!! Do you get my point?

I (and probably a lot of CoD fans) would rather have fun with the game while it lasts instead of ignoring them for a sake that probably even won't change. It's not like I support Activision's doings. They are the ones to blame.

I ignore how it copies, because I want something fresh.

"Man, I really hate lemons. That's why I eat these lime fruits every morning". No offense but that comment is kind of contradictory, lol.
