I was quite hyped for this film. I know a lot of people think that Emma Watson may not be the greatest casting for Belle but I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt and thought she'd be fine as Belle. The trailer just got released:

I have no real issue with Belle. The Beast doesn't look exactly how I thought he would but he looked fine. I have an issue with how Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumiere and Cogsworth look. They are creepy and uncanny af (Mrs Potts and Chip are the worst) Surely I can't be the only one who thinks this :|

I will probably still watch the movie but.... ewww.

They just don't transition into live action well, at all.

I feel they ruined one of my all time favorite Disney movies it did not need to become live action it was fine the way it was and I feel Emma Watson is not the right person for the role of Belle they could have chosen a better actress she should have just stuck with Harry Potter and stop ruining the Disney princesses did it Disney learn from Cinderella? she just does not do well in Disney movies she should move along to other movies I am not in any way saying she is a bad actress I just don't think Disney is the place for her I mean it could be only if she is lending her voice to an animated movie/short, knowing this movie is coming out makes me angry inside I know that sounds silly and maybe over the top, but it just does it makes me angry because I feel they ruined the movie I know people can say its just live action, but it did not need to be live action and now their going to be making a Lion King and Little Mermaid live action DISNEY JUST STOP IT!!!!!

The trailer looks fine, but... I remember reading an interview with Emma Watson back when she was first announced to star in Beauty and the Beast. She stated that she had to learn to sing secifically for the role... I mean, holy sh*t, it's supposed to be a musical! Did somebody actually pick an actress who couln't sing and gave her the main role? Is it even possible to learn to sing just like that, from scratch, at the age of twenty something?

The whole Disney craze of rebooting all of their animated stuff into live action is just typical of Disney. They found a niche they could exploit and are attacking it in the usual Disney fashion. While the calculated manner in which Disney seems to rake in the bucks is a bit annoying, I can't really complain too much because they make these live action spin-offs well enough to keep me coming back to see them. I liked Cinderella and Jungle Book, and intend to see Pete's Dragon soon.

Now Beauty and the Beast is a whole different kettle of fish. The animated version is my favorite movie so it'll be hard not to be a little critical of what they choose to do.

So far I can see some pros and cons. Emma Watson, oh my, I love that girl. I can't imagine better casting to be honest. Call me prejudiced because she's one of my favorite actresses, but she looked great in the trailer. I don't mind if she had to learn to sing for the role. They wanted the actress, and if they can teach her to sing as well, so much the better.

The look of the side characters; Lumiere, Mrs, Potts, Cogsworth, is fine. Granted they're a far cry from their animated counterparts, but I think Disney is trying to blend some of the Broadway show look into it.

As far as the cons, Disney made a notable blunder, as they seem bound to do on all of their live action remakes. In this case, (SPOILER ALERT) they removed the songs 'Human Again' and 'If I Can't Love Her' and replaced them with an original song (or songs) for this movie. Okay, if they want this movie to be it's own thing, fine. But if you're going to have the majority of the songs from the movie and Broadway show anyway, don't cut out what is arguably the two most popular ones!

Disney did a great thing when they put 'Human Again' in the Broadway show, and reinstated it into the Special Edition of the animated movie. But then they removed it again (from the movie) when it was released in 3D. Now it's out of the live action version, ugh! 'If I Can't Love Her' is one of the most popular songs from the Broadway show and the finale of the first act. Now it's out too. Are they just trying to annoy the fans so some egotistical writers can say they know better than the rest of the world?

Anyway, despite the shortcomings, I am looking forward to the movie and I think it'l be good, if not the all-time super classic it could have been.

I'm a massive Disney fan and a Beauty and the Beast fan (as I type this, I can see my large plush Beast sitting proudly upon my desk) but this is one project I care very little about.
