What kind of music do you wish the MLP Film would have?

I'm sick of people here being content with mediocrity. For a theatrical film you best be putting forth your best effort. Having glam pop songs about fashion runways won't impress people.

 

I was never the biggest fan of the EQG movies and the songs. But everybody has their taste and everybody is allowed to have these tastes. There is no reason to be angry about someones taste in these songs.

And it still sucked.

In fact up to Legend of Eveefree the Equestria Girls series has had some of the most ear grating songs ever made.

I mean seriously? "This is our big night"? "Na na na na na na na"? "I'm gonna be myself no matter what I do"? Are you kidding me with these lyrics?

And I don't blame Daniel Ingram one bit. With Unleash the Magic and most of the LOE soundtrack it's clear that he wants to make memorable music but Hasbro says otherwise for the most part.

1. No not all pony music is great. 95% of FIM's is, but the EG songs (the first three movies at least) are unbearable to listen to. I will admit that the Cafeteria song is somewhat catchy for 20 seconds and Unleash the Magic is great, but otherwise... get the bleach.

 

2. No, sorry, but Rainbow Rock's soundtrack was just as abysmal lyric-wise. Musically it was a tiny step up and the visuals are great, but the composition is awful. It's especially apparent when Sunset Shimmer's song completely hijacks the powerful final sequence into yet another generic glam pop song.

I'm not angry at people who enjoy that style. I pity those who think that having it in a wide-release theater in a competitive movie world (around the holidays nonetheless) is a good idea.

This is a forum about Friendship is magic and not a forum with a bunch of "movie experts" who care about box office numbers. All we want is having a good time watching the movie. We don't care if it will reach one billion dollars.

Dubstep? I don't know, I mean if it matches the scene like if it involves Discord it could make sense. The other kind would be if there was some kind of robot or mechanical thing going on.

 

Wonder if they would get a big name to help with the music.

Those films had plenty of energetic and exciting music that plenty of people enjoyed, and it's easy to see that Daniel Ingram and co. really enjoyed making it, again there's a reason Rainbow Rocks is widely loved among the fanbase

Being primarily for children has never been a factor in quality. There's a difference between Finding Dory and Hotel Transylvania.

They already confirmed it will be a Disney-esque musical, especially considering the posts from Daniel Ingram of him studying Disney films/musicals.

 

I don't get where you're thinking it will be like Equestria Girls when the mane series doesn't have any of that overly synthesized stuff. Sure Sia may provide a modern-like song but more on the level of Try Everything than ACADECA.

Even the greats make sh*tty stuff at times. His work on the actual show far out weighs the EG stuff.
