Swifty 249 January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 (edited) Nobody should complain then, if the episodes on youtube get deleted. If you are only allowed to watch it on tv, Fanbase would be quite smaller in the world, too. Bad luck that would be, i guess. Frozen The Unicorn 484 January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 I think ethically and legally It's wrong. But like most "wrong" things if people have the power to do it without risk of punishment, then they will continue to do it. Hasbro doesn't get Ad revenue from people stealing their videos and posting them online, and Hasbro's ad revenue is their main source of income alongside the toys! But the counter problem is, they've let the printing industry grow to the point, that any attempts to clamp down on illegal providers would not only result in a large amount negative press but also have little effect as other sources would soon appear. Hasbro has little option now to just let it happen, and try take down biggest of the biggest. 1 "Don't hide behind the shadows of others come out and forge your own destiny." SRN 146 January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 Piracy, in a nutshell - is illegal and you could potentially have charges pressed against you if you get caught. Yes but watching online streams isn't considered pirating. If you don't download the episodes, you're fine.
Amaterasupony 19 January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 Yes but watching online streams isn't considered pirating. If you don't download the episodes, you're fine. But isn't online streaming downloading in a way? I mean -- you can't be watching the stream without the video buffering, and that's downloading. But I digress. I feel like it's complicated. I don't live in the States, so that immediately makes it a lot harder to acquire the newest pony episodes legally. I do watch it via these kind of sites, but if Hasbro puts the seasons on Blu-Ray, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I think DVD doesn't cut it these days.

I can understand if you really can't afford it, as I'm in the same situation. But please try to buy something at some point.
Tilgoreth 1,915 January 17, 2017 Author Share January 17, 2017 Ponies get to feel better about themselves by posting how evil he is for pirating I suppose. Even though he said he doesn't have cable, which is completely legitimate, and that he might buy the dvdsOh no I don't buy DVD. What's the point when I can watch them on kisscartoon? Yeah I know that's wrong. But I'm not the one who provides the service. Be angry at kisscartoon not me. Well.........it's not up to little old me to tell you what's right or wrong. However...............you wouldn't want to be seen like this guy............................................................. I'm Okay with that. What's the point in buying movies if their free online? No I'm being serious. Once I found pirating websites I stopped buying movies. You wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't steal a handbag. You wouldn't steal a television. You wouldn't steal a movie. Downloading pirated films is stealing. Stealing is against the law. Piracy. It's a crime. So? For most it's a "crime" of convenience. It's easier to watch a movie free online then to go and buy it. Yeah it takes money away from the creators. But I wasn't the one who created the site in the first place. Besides not everyone has money to buy blue rays or DVD all the time. I think ethically and legally It's wrong. Like put them on their website five days after they air on tv. Or th day after. Then they could have the normal commercial breaks so they'd still get ad revenue How is the fact that he might buy the dvds relevant at all? I mean, there's an equally big chance that he won't buy them so I honestly fail to see your point. Yeah I won't. Their free online.how is he supposed to watch the show anyways without cable??They want me to wait seven no the and buy them on DVD. Which isn't an option for . 1 Signature made by Kyoshi. Zachary 5,522 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 Yes, It is really wrong to pirated that. PiratePony 8,486 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 But the service is illegal. If someone ripped off a store and gave you the items would you be taking advantage of a servce? Seriously there are a lot of people involved who are affected by pirated work. For example, you like Rainbow Dash. You watch a pirated video. Ashleigh Ball is out of money she should haves earned in royalties. What about the characters who have one or two lines in an episode? They have rent and bills to pay. This is their job. What if viewership drops due to piracy and the show gets cancelled on account if it? Now a hundred people are out of a job. 3 Courtesy of @Sparklefan1234
trademark2 485 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 (edited) While it's true that ratings matter, DVD sales matter much more. If people even buy a single season on DVD it would likely be more revenue for Hasbro than if you watched the entire series on the Discovery channel. It might be a little draconian to condemn people that don't have cable and maybe can't afford to buy all the seasons (which is close to 100$ for new bronies), when they would be spending that money for nothing more than moral reasons (since if they are a brony, they already watched all of the episodes and gain nothing by buying them). Realistically, about half or more of bronies start out from watching the series online, so I think these online sites actually help Hasbro. Still, the people watching online that can should spend that 100$ on Hasbro products, or at least help support the company in some way to make up for it. I myself started watching it online, but now I have spent over $250, and plan on spending much more, although a lot of that isn't going to Hasbro but rather to artists. Some of it is going to Hasbro though, and I have bought seasons. People may disagree about whether I am being moral, but this is what I see as right Edited January 17, 2017 by trademark2 1 Feel free to message or add me everypony! Gestum 2,493 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 Well, it's wrong from a legal viewpoint. how is he supposed to watch the show anyways without cable?? He can buy the episodes on itunes or he can buy the dvds. Also I think that netflix has MLP. Another possible solution is to simply not watch the show. It's possible to live without watching a cartoon.

Also, people who discoverer the show by watching it for free online are probably going to keep watching it online for free. Yes, but I bought pony merch because I watched the show online, and a lot of other people do as well, and they wouldn't be bronies(and obviously, wouldn't buy merch) if they hadn't had the ability to watch it online. The ad revenue potential is pretty much nonexistent for this group in the first place, since they definitely weren't going to watch the show on the discovery channel as their first exposure to it. People have to be exposed to the show before they start buying things, that is what the online episodes help with. especially since the online users tend to be young adults that are trying new things. Of course, its better to watch it on the discovery channel once you have become a brony and know about it though. I am thinking about driving to my parents house to watch it, just because it would be cool to see it on TV (I only have internet, saving money is good ). Children help with TV ratings, but bronies help more with merch sales I think. Sure, some might spend as much a hundred dollar on the toys and DVD's and that kind of stuff but not everyone are going to. Not everyones going to buy any product in the world, the reason they market them is for the people that will buy them, not the people that won't buy them Edited January 17, 2017 by trademark2 1 Feel free to message or add me everypony! Darthy Hooves 106 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 Pirating episodes & movies is illegal and a form of stealing. Everyone involved with the show gets paid when a DVD, a Youtube viewing or a Netflix viewing is bought. Plus Hasbro gets paid by sponsors who run their commercials during the show on Discovery Family. The funds raised by reruns, the seasons' viewing & EG & MLP movies help to fund the costs of future seasons & movies. The more pirating occurs, the less funds there is to pay for costs of producing future episodes & movies. Pirating an episode would like me going to work, not punching in the timeclock, & working without getting paid!! It's illegal, just like pirating episodes & movies are illegal!! Hope this helps to explain why pirating episodes & movies is stealing! Equestria Rises !!!!!!!
trademark2 485 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 (edited) I'm really shocked at the level of vehemence against watching online, when most bronies watch online. This is fascinating to me. I don't really understand it. Maybe a lot of bronies just aren't commenting because of the atmosphere? Edited January 17, 2017 by trademark2 2 Feel free to message or add me everypony!
