26 words per minute, according to some random test I took.

Very, very, slowly, in other words.

Less fast, my Holmes-like abilities allow me to deduce.

Probably also less fast, general symmetry would imply.

I'm going for a 'dying villainously and late in life but not wasting any time converting to the Dark Side' sort of dealio.

About 20 metres straight up.

Was a part of a giant rope swing thing where you got on all this rock-climbing-like safety gear, climbed up to the top of this massive wooden post (which swayed rather dramatically in the wind, may I add), got strapped into a pair of long ropes leading off to a pair of offset posts (in a sort of top-view V-shape with me at the point), and jumped off the post.

Although they sorta had to shove me a bit before I went over.

No, no, nothing like that, it's just that the whole dealio is a mishmash of the Christian day of commemoration of the dead (as per the original festival, which I would have freely endorsed if it still existed unblemished today) with practices rather questionably appropriated from Catholic folktales, pagan lore, divinatory rituals, spirit-worshipping oddments, and assorted supernatural superstitions.

Hence, 'origins relatively unwholesome'. Plenty more virtuous festivals I can get on board with, don'tcha know.

Heavy metal being a major repeat offender in that regard.

I'm pretty sure you're asking about 'average weight' and 'total weight', respectively, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Average weight I'd place around 15-25kg, taking their average height to be around 3ft (someone calculated ponies' average height to be approximately that value and I choose to agree with them just because that means teh hoerses are xtrasmol).

Total weight, well, no-one's figured out any decent population estimates for Ponyville, but, from Wikipedia, a village has between about 100 and 1,000 inhabitants. That means Ponyville's total hoersweight is between 1,500 and 25,000kg, but I'd place it closer to 5,000kg.

Whole lotta smolhoers, I know.

37 minutes ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

How many calories does Celestia burn, (heh heh, pun), every time she moves the sun if the use of magic was equivalent to muscle?

I will tell you this if you tell me how big Equestria's sun is.

It's either a tiny geocentric-orbit magically-sustained star or it's a full-sized sun, depending on who you talk to, and that's so large of a range that there's no point even tentatively giving approximations.

To top it off, there's uncertainty over whether she actually moves the sun, moves the planet, or kinda does a bit of both, so even that would have to be taken into account.

What is a scientific explanation for why Pegasi are able to stand on clouds? (No "magic" cop-out.)

If there was a purely scientific explanation that worked according to our physical laws, we'd be walking on clouds.

Equestria's clouds have been shown to be peculiarly tangible even to non-pegasi, so there's definitely some exotic physics governing Equestrian weather systems (case in point: that rainbow that the CMC hoovered all the colour out of in 'Hearts and Hooves Day').

EQUESTRIA IS LITERALLY SATURATED WITH MAGIC THIS IS NOT NORMAL PHYSICS WE'RE DEALING WITH HERE I DON'T KNOW WHYYYYYYYY

49 minutes ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

Anarchy, segregation, imminent implosion of all social media apps, some incredibly confused blind people just standing there like 'literally wat', everyone starting to talk to themselves/their pets/inanimate objects because there's no-one else to talk to, the usual.

Fine. Say she moves the Sun, equivalent to our own sun in every way, around a stationary planet that Equestria resides on. I do enjoy things and I definitely have suspension of disbelief, but most of them creepypastas are just like 'okay yeah this happened IRL and there was like gore and dead people and things with an unnatural amount of claws and like totally be terrified right now yeah and everyone died".

Some of them were half-decent, but the majority were just meh.

14 hours ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

Fine. Say she moves the Sun, equivalent to our own sun in every way, around a stationary planet that Equestria resides on. And even though it goes against everything we know, this planet does not rotate and she must actively keep the Sun orbiting the planet. So, in a typical day, how many calories does she burn?

Distance of sun from planet = 150,000,000,000 m

Circumference of sun's orbit (2 * pi * distance of sun from planet) = 950,000,000,000 m

Day-night cycle length = 24 hours (assuming that, too, is equivalent)

Speed of sun (circumference of orbit / day-night cycle length) = 11,000,000 m/s (glossing over a bit of uninteresting unit conversion)

Now, the sun would already be in motion, so Celestia wouldn't actually have to keep it moving (it'd stay in motion unless an external force acted upon it, just like in our solar system); all she'd have to do is keep it from flying off in a straight line (i.e., constantly supply the centripetal force required to keep it moving around the planet in a circular orbit).

Mass of sun = 2*10^30 kg

Centripetal force needed to keep sun moving around planet (mass of sun * (speed of sun)^2 / distance of sun from planet) = 1.6*10^33 N (on a sort-of-related side-note, she'd need to hang on to her inertial reference frame pretty tightly if she's yanking on the sun that hard; forces pull both ways, after all, as Newton pointed out)

Unintuitively, Celestia doesn't actually use up any energy by exerting this force on the sun.

This is because the change in kinetic energy of an object (in this case, the sun) is equal to the force exerted on it (in this case, by Celestia) multiplied by the distance travelled by the object in the direction of the force (in this case, a big fat 0 distance units, as the sun moves perpendicularly to the centripetal force exerted on it by Celestia).

Zero calories, to conclude, assuming the sun-moving spell itself doesn't drain energy from her (which, according to the Journal of the Two Sisters, is the polar opposite of the truth; in fact, it's supposed to leave her feeling revitalised and more powerful than ever).

Blowtorches have a symbiotic relationship with dragons, nesting with their young inside a mature dragon's stomach and feeding on the methane therein in exchange for helping the dragon to slaughter its prey.

Favorite Disney film?

Wreck-it Ralph, easily.

14 hours ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

Just how sound is the science in Interstellar?

Interstellar is the most physically accurate sci-fi movie I've ever seen. The accelerated-time effect of being so close to a black hole, the scientific value of understanding how black holes work, and the fact that our current knowledge of gravity is still incompatible with particle physics were all well-described and portrayed, and there were plenty of other nifty physics tidbits in there (like the infinite tessellation of cubes within the black hole - a pattern with muchly interesting significance in mathematics).

I was very impressed with that movie. :proud:

I'm probably taller than you, in fact.

And who was the one who was implying that not having a problem with describing gruesome medieval torture/execution techniques was bad?

Just past 6ft.

Probably taller than you, if you're actually average height as alleged.

Random griffin who I haven't seen since Season 1 so don't ask me to tell you much about her:okiedokieloki:

Me.

He's shorter/stockier than me, which means less ability to reach further-away dots.

Sure, but the squawk would be a tad metallic.

Smol post-apocalypse doodad-hoarding robot = instant win.

This sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, you do realise.

Favorite canon MLP song remix?

You, by this, of course, mean a canon remix of a canon song, and I can think of none better than the Acid Paradox remix of the This Day Aria.

If you don't already have the Hasbro-licensed 'DJ PON-3 Presents' MLP song remix album, then I highly recommend it.

20 minutes ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

What mythical creature would you want to exist?

Unicorns?

One of the few mythological creatures without a penchant for blood, so that's a pro.

21 minutes ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

Do you have any experience with actual horses?

I was too scared to ride an actual horse when I was like 7 or some such age and my family visited a family friend's farm, if that counts.

Other than that, I've petted a good few friendly horses at petting zoos and farm parks.

25 minutes ago, TigerGeekGuy said:

Who are your top five favorite fandom artists so far?

Yakovlev-Vad, Rain-Gear, MirroredSea, The-Wizard-Of-Art, and Dreatos, in no particular order.

No, actually, but it looks pretty interesting from what Wikipedia said about it.

By way of consolation, he subsequently named both his favourite Disney princess - Moana - and his favourite poneprincess (which is probably what you meant, yes?) - Cadance.

Do try to be more specific in future, Tux, there's a good chap.
