Ponies control the weather! What about the other races?

Something really interesting just popped up in my head! Pegasi control the weather over Equestria, and also Everfree controls it's own weather! But something is off with every other race kingdom around Equestria! The changeling hive sits upon a desert wasteland! The yaks live in a snowy wasteland! The dragons live in a desert wasteland! The griffons live in a desert wasteland! Don't you see the pattern here?! The other creatures can't control the weather like the ponies do, and that's why they all live in lifeless wastelands! Most of them don't even grow crops!

The ponies are so afraid of these other creatures that they're not sharing their weather! What do you think about this? Don't you see that every other civilized race around Equestria has the same weather while the ponies in Equestria can control their own?

Ponies can't completely change the climate, or else the Crystal Empire wouldn't need the Crystal Heart. It's not like every part of Equestria is a lush, temperate climate. Still, it's quite peculiar how so many other species lives in extreme environments. Looking at the Griffon kingdom, I think they might have destroyed their environment, but

in a recent episode, the Yaks struggled to endure extreme weather without pony help, 

so maybe you have a point.

Don't you have to fly to move clouds? Well the only winged race on that list are Dragons who probably prefer the wasteland they live in. And the griffons who are probably too selfish at the moment to do anything about it.

Or at least that's my theory on it

Arguing about the weakness of other factions when other factions have been used as nothing more than malleable plot propellant for lousy lessons is a bit unfair, wouldn't you agree? But let me say this one thing: if one was to throw a global artifact and enchantment destruction spell on the plane where Equestria is situated, ponies would likely be the first to go extinct.

 

And about the weather: Spike was able to thaw a massive iceberg as a baby dragon, and griffins seem to be able to live in Cloudsdale just fine while being able to resist windy conditions that make skilled pegasi crap their breeches. I recon they'd be able to handle the weather.
