Does Big Mac prefer the kinder mares?

Regardless of whether you ship Fluttermac, Cheerimac, Sugar Mac, or even Marble Mac. One thing I seem to notice is that Big Macintosh seems to have a thing for mares who are usually known for their kindness. After all, Fluttershy is the Element of Kindness, and she's often paired with Big Mac by fans. Cheerilee is a teacher who works with fillies and colts, thus kindness certainly applies to her. Sugar Belle is pretty quiet and soft spoken and has been known to be kind as well. Marble Pie is a little confusing. She's quiet and soft spoken, but I'm not too sure if kindness is a part of her. 

But nevertheless. The common ground of each of these mares is that they're known for their kindness towards other ponies. So I don't think that we should accuse the big red stallion of having bad taste in what he likes in a mare, no matter which of these 4 ponies you ship him with.

Kind mares sure but to be honest, he needsa mare that is kind but not afraid to spreak up. That's why I could never see him with Marble or Fluttershy (at least the fandom's interpretation where he is in charge, no she would be in charge with the characterization she's been going through).

Now the thing with Cheerilee, is she's nice but that is the air of the teacher persona, outside of the classroom we see her cynical side and I fear too much baggage for poor Big Mac.

I will totally agree with Sugar Belle though. She is kind to plenty like she was with Feather before he became too pushy. She will care for anypony as long as they are willing to listen and care for her. And if they don't, well she's not hesitant to put them in their place. She's kind and would be willing to speak for and understand the soft spoken stallion.

Well I would be concerned if he was interested in Marble Pie in a romantic way given how that would basically be incest.

Plus she doesn't even have a personality so she shouldn't really count.

He has only expressed interest in Sugar Belle, she's said to be his first (non under spell effects) crush so I don't see a pattern there.

Cheerilee doesn't count, because Big Mac was forcibly fed a love potion by the CMC to like her. Fluttershy doesn't count, because she and Big Mac have never spent any time together on the show. Marble and Big Mac doesn't count, because I'm pretty sure those blushes and awkwardness was due to embarrassment and awkwardness, not arousal and affection- and they're family. So we can only realistically look at Sugar Belle and ask that question.

Big Mac had a purpose at least with Sugar Belle, which is providing her with apples for her bakery. Out of his own kindness, Sugar Belle saw that in him and in return, they both genuinely feel affectionate about each other.

Where does Fluttermac even come from? I remember every detail of every episode and the two haven't had an notable connection ever. Pony tones doesn't count cause you might as well ship Big Mac with the other Stallion of the group.

The first part for sure. No offence, but for the latter, the show has been known to make plot twists so I wouldn't call it official yet.

You need to first separate fanshipping from canon befre you ask such a question. Big Mac has never shown any interest in Fluttershy, in canon. That's fanshipping. Big mac has never shown interest in Cheerilee in canon, outside of a FORCED love potion by the CMC. The fans mostly ship them.

 

One thing fanshipping tends to do with him is pair him of with the same shy, quiet characters that also are qualities seen in Big Mac. Like Marble. 

 

So by fandom standards, yes, Big Mac does go for the shy, quiet mares.

I don't think Sugar Belle is a quiet and a shy mare. Marble was one but its clear Big Mac wasn't into her as much as she was into him. There was an animatic shown at SDCC where Marble goes to approach Big Mac when he visit with Apple family and she witness him kissing Sugar Belle and then she gets sad and hides. From this perspective i can mostly see Big Mac being a quiet pony himself but still wanting a talkative mare that would complement him rather than imitate him. Same goes with Fluttershy and her close relationship with Discord or even Tree Hugger. I don't think she would ever fall for someone like Big Mac or Bulk Biceps. She would see them as someone reliable but not someone charismatic or funny and i think those are traits she enjoy the most.

If we include Cheerilee, Marble Pie, the question should be:

Why would someone not like a kind mare?
