my... 19th/20th one of them... cant remember. my partner at the time actually made me miserable and cry because he just didnt do Birthdays. I made the effort but it wasnt returned. Just remember crying in the kitchen of the flat at the time. No friends over, he was playing xbox games the whole time and I just had nowhere for me time really. No meal out or take out either =/

This year's. I had a lot of schoolwork and didn't manage to make any time for celebrations. Friends couldn't cone over either. They too had schoolwork. Kind of a boring one really.

Probably my 15th birthday back when I lived with my mother. We waited at home doing nothing, while my mother promised to take me out to dinner. We were a bit poor at the time so I didn't expect much. What I didn't expect was for her to finally come home near midnight when everywhere is closing, and not only that she was piss drunk. But she did give me some money to buy my own present, that's the only good thing that happened that day.

IIRC, it was back in 2010. The year was...particularly painful in that my parents were at each other's throats almost constantly, and I was considering just throwing my hands up and leaving. My birthday...well, my mom was the only one who took me out, but she couldn't help but bring dad up, and just increase tension from some reason, and dad at home...yeah.

Thankfully that awful year has passed and things are much calmer...for the most part, anyway.

14th birthday. I was recovering from a really bad head cold, and we were at this arcade that also gave birthday buffets, and I was playing around, and I went to hug my familly for coming, and too say I ended up tossing the cookies. On my parents. In front of god and everybody. 

and ever since that day, I, for some inexplicable reason, somehow always get sick on my birthday.

I don't remember any particularly terrible birthdays. I could be forgetting something. I went back through my LJ which mostly covers the last ten years and could only really come up with two that had bad moments:

2015. It probably wasn't a bad birthday in general. However, back then I was still holding onto my ex. Her birthday before I had really took care to make sure she got a happy birthday wish from me. She never wished me a happy birthday in any way, shape, or format. Now I understand that she owes me nothing and I don't want to sound like that, I was just hurt. When it was that night and I was at work and I still hadn't received a birthday wish from her I broke out in tears. She hasn't spoke to me since the November before that birthday.

I also recall having a bad oboe lesson that day since I had not been able to practice and my lessons instructor of the time would have none of it. She's not mean in anyway, just really she doesn't accept any excuse. Lol.

2011. In my LJ I noted that this day I chose to go to Applebee's for my birthday. The one we chose to go to had terrible service. Like we were waiting FOREVER for our food and they didn't have any straws for my drink or anything. In some twisted turn of events, I think it may be the only Applebee's left in town. =/

I would say my last. I have anxiety, and I just couldn't handle it then. I stayed in my room most of the time trying to feel better, and it was just hell for me.

I would say the 2011 one, the year we migrated from Turkey to France.

First, I invited a bunch of classmates to my party on the actual date (May 2), and I shit you not, not a single one of them showed up. I tried to convince myself that it didn't matter because I had my family and I wasn't expecting them anyway, but I still felt something stuck in my throat.

Of course, I didn't say anything about it to them afterwards, cause I was the quiet kid who never spoke unless asked.

But credit where it's due - the principal conspired with some pupils for a surprise party at the school cafeteria, a couple days later. They even had one of the girls play Happy Birthday on the violin for me, and I felt something else stuck in my throat at that instant.

I still have postcards from that day (in Turkish, English and French) wishing me the best in France.

A lot of my worst birthdays happened as a kid. No one ever really came to them, and it was super bumming for me. It got to the point where my mom stopped holding them for me because of it. ><
