movies/tv Favorite movie to watch when you are sick

@Starzen created a topic here which had a focus on helping her feel better due to general maladies that are common this time of year. It was locked as it would be better served as a blog or status update, however I see that there are two unique opportunities that I can avail myself of. One is a thread about cheering someone up when they feel sick. Life Advice sounds like a good place for that since it deals with mental well being, and we all know how crappy it can be to fall ill during the holidays. :)

More importantly though, is the question that Starzen actually posed in the OP of the locked thread and is the actual subject of this topic.

What's your favorite movie to watch when you're sick?

That is a phenomenal question. Movies can be a way to unwind when feeling bleh. They can pick you up when your body is focused on fighting the viruses and such that have mounted an invasion ... at least they do that for me.

When I'm sick, I tend to go for nostalgic value. Being laid up I'll put on a OT Star Wars film, a Disney film, or even a campy 80's movie like The Last Starfighter or Cloak and Dagger.

So who else has that drive to pop on a movie when the ick gets ya? What movie is it?

As I said in my thread I also like to put on Star Wars. Another movie series I'll go for sometimes is Back to the Future. I don't know why these are my go-to sick movies, they just are. Haha. ^_^

(by the way can anyone tell me how to make a status update? I can never figure out how. It's not under the create pull tab at the top of the site. Do I need to be at a certain level or something?)

@Starzen go to your settings page here and click on 'edit profile'.

You should see a toggle switch for enabling Status Updates. Green = on. I have a feeling yours may be off.

Also BttF is a perfect example of that nostalgic gem of a film that can make you feel better.

Thank you! That was it! Now I won't have to trouble the mods again when I feel like writing something more personal. (Sorry mods! Didn't know any better!  )

I usually just turn on a playlist of may favorite game reviewer when I'm sick an fall asleep to it.

But if I was going to pick a movie, I'd pick Disney's Sword in the Stone. Such a chill film and I've alway enjoyed it. Another great option would be Fantasia.

I don't usually watch anything when I am sick, but rather rest and try to get better. However, when I do, I have the weird habit of watching the first Harry Potter movie.

Bambi II or Robin Hood: Men in Tights

Bambi II is a legit choice. One of the better direct to home sequels.

Fantasia is actually one of the better atmospheric films to toss on in general, so I can see someone putting it on and being lulled to sleep by it.

When I'm sick or just in down in general, I'll usually throw on either Princess Mononoke, Captain America Winter Soldier, or Star Wars

When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move,
your job is to plant yourself like a tree next to the river of truth, and tell the whole world
"No, you move."

I think for me its the Movie " Flushed away ", im pretty sure its also the Movie i watched the most. Both me and my sister liked the Movie and we always watched it before going to bed, when we were children and were by our dad at the weekend. It sort off became a tradition for us.

I recently even watched it again when i had this stomach pain, because its simple and easy fun, so i think this is the movie i would always watch, when im sick. Its not to long, its just about right. This Movie always cheers me up.

anything nostlagic works as the "best to watch when ill". I think because when you were a kid (most of us i'd assume) would just have cartoons on. I certainly did. It was Disney mostly. But as I got older, my Mum would try and keep me educated when I off sick by using that time to get me to watch more grown up films that featured historical events. Like Forrest Gump, Schindler's List, Tea with Mussalini, Empire Under the Sun etc. Just big films. TBH Being sick is the best time to absorb useless knowledge through films and TV.

Also if you put on a long film, then youre more likely gonna snooze during it and help get better.
