general media Public Radio

Do you listen to your country's equivalent of public radio? If so, what shows do you enjoy on that station?

I really enjoy the main public radio network in the US, National Public Radio (NPR). I would say my favorite shows are All Things Considered, Fresh Air and Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me. All Things Considered and Fresh Air are mostly news shows, but Fresh Air mostly inserts media and interesting stories in than normal news. I mostly like Fresh Air because of that.

Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is a comedy show that takes the week's news headlines in the US and beyond, and makes fun of them, which feels so much better since people aren't usually yelling and trying to push a certain side on the stories. I would highly recommend it.

I almost never listen to radio of any kind. I usually opt for my own CDs. But I do love the National Public Radio's version of the Star Wars original trilogy. I have all the episodes on CD so it's easy to keep up with them, and I really love listening (and re-listening) to them.

Our local classical music station is a Public Radio station. I sometimes like listening to that. Until it gets into opera or squeaky violin music.  But seriously, I do have to give them credit. It seems like every time I'm in the car (where I usually hear the station) they play some kind of oboe concerto or sonata.

I listen to All things Considered on the drive home from work sometimes, but that's about it these days. I used to love Car Talk and I enjoyed Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know?, but those are both off the air now.

WAIT WAIT WAIT you forgot "This American Life" hosted by Ira Glass, I mean I love all those other programs you mentioned too, but "This American Life" is by far my favorite of them all, I also really like MPR's "Morning Edition" too, it gets me caught up on all my news for the day.
