'Ever After High' is an alright show.

Recently I have been watching this girls show called 'Ever After High', and it is surprisingly good. It's pretty girly (overly so, at some points), obviously, but it wasn't half bad, I suggest you check it out. It's got an actual story and the main characters are likable with good voice acting. On the negative side, a lot of the jokes are lame, but I think this show has enough charms to be worth a watch.

Out of the characters I would rather the boys and especially the animal characters had less screen-time. If you can stand the overwhelmingly girly-ness, it's a decent show.

After an /mlp/ thread of someone saying they enjoyed it, I decided to give it a go, and yeah, it was pretty decent, dare I say, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Again the flaws are obvious, it's really girly, the boy characters are lame, and some of the jokes and dialogue can be pretty lame, but some o the characters can be pretty fun(though the Rebels are much more interesting), and it has an interesting world and plot. It's better than Monster High at least

Yeah, I agree.

I like the concept of the setting, as there is some actual drama going on with the characters. It's a surprising show.

I just started watching this show, and you're right, it's not half bad. I'm definitely going to keep watching to see where it goes. I've tried some Monster High and it didn't really do much for me. This more of something I can into because the characters are way more interesting so far.

the show isnt that bad, but i dont agree with the whole idea of conforming to your parents thing. sure, raven is rebelling against the idea but most of the characters in the show are always telling her to conform to what society wants them to be and it even comes off as selfish. for example, apple doesnt care about ravens happiness because her happiness affects hers directly. i dont know, but i just dont agree with most of the things in the show. kinda glad it ended.

The show is actually nice, since it’s a spin-off of Monster High, wish that they continue the show, but alas, nothing new. Guessing sales didn’t go well or something in selling dolls and stuff. Also, the novels are awesome too, but I only read two of them.

OOoooooooh!  I LOVE Ever After High!  As a matter of fact, it was the first "girly" thing that I openly admitted to liking (not all that long after I came out as transgender, in fact), even before I finally gave MLP a chance.  What got me interested is that I like Fractured Fairy Tale type stories (like EAH & RWBY), and the whole concept of the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White leading a revolt against tradition really spoke to me, since I'd spent pretty much my whole life up to that point being told I was a guy & was only allowed to like guy things.

While I agree with the fact that some of the jokes were pretty corny, I like corny jokes, and the show was getting better right up to the Dragon Games (I'll be spoilering what I really like about the Dragon games, but it actually made me reconsider Apple White's whole character and actually start to like her), but then, it seems that lackluster sales on the EAH dolls, coupled with the Monster High reboot caused them to basically half-ass Epic Winter (although even that had some good moments).

Spoiler

The part from Dragon games was where you see that Snow White is basically a stage mom who is constantly pressuring Apple to be absolutely perfect in every way, almost like Spoiled Rich did to Diamond Tiara, only less mean, and the fact that it was DARLING'S kiss that woke Apple from the cursed sleep induced by one of the Evil Queen's poisoned apples seems to indicate that Apple is a deeply-closeted lesbian who is in denial about it, much like I was in regards to my gender identity for so long and for similar reasons), and the way that she & Raven manage to defeat & imprison the Evil Queen, along with the most recent pic posted on the Official Ever After High FB page seems to indicate that Apple & Raven are the ones meant to be together, and I am 250% A-OK with that. :D

Anyways, I will say that the books are definitely where it's at for the series, particularly the ones by Shannon Hale, and I have almost all of them. :D

Ah, you see, that's the main conflict. The Royals and Rebels are both depicted as good people (with exceptions) but who disagree with each other. The Rebels all have something about their destiny that causes them to be rebels, but individual Royals often have hangups on their individual destinies (ie, I have to do this but it sucks anyways), but at the same time the Royals have a good point about how the Rebels can ruin everything and potentially maybe get erased by not following their destinies. It's not just one side being wrong or right so much as its both sides being composed of people who are very conflicted about their rather crappy rules of their universe. Both sides want freedom, but one side is more scared of the risks because they were told that they will die if they rebel.

it's really interesting, because yeah, Apple is a bit selfish in wanting her special ever after and probably doesn't really get why Raven is so hung up on it. But raven from Apple's perspective is radically dangerous to both herself and Apple. so it's pretty understandable that why she feels like Raven is in the wrong because Raven might possibly kill her or at least destroy the future she was promised, along with Raven herself whom she cares about.

Raven, on her part, if she follows her future, will end up defeated, evil, and locked away just like her Mother, no happily ever after for her. She has to be evil and poison Apple and then get defeated, and raven doesn't want that. I think Raven is supposed to be in the right, but Apple isn't supposed to be seen as a Jerk.

In short, the world of Ever after High is kinda messed up and the characters are all trapped in it and have to deal with it.

That's what I like about the whole setting/premise of Ever After High, and why I like it better than Monster High:  Monster High is mostly your typical teen drama fluff, but with Universal/Hammer Horror monsters' kids, whereas Ever After High takes on some deep stuff.

Also, I found this fanart a while back & I could totally see Raven's mom doing something like this:

(Yes, while I'm not usually into shipping, I ship Raven x Apple like I was FedEx).

I know, right.

I'm soooo into the show! It has a fairly decent storyline, though, Apple White can be quite of a goody-two-shoes at times. Lizzie Hearts is my favourite character. I love how she likes to yell "Off with her head!" and always talks about chopping people's heads off. She's just like her mother, The Queen Of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and is heir to the Wonderlandian throne. Lizzie seems intimidating but she really is a softie on the inside. :pinkie:
