So with Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo Switch coming and setting up to be Nintendo's big game of both E3 and the holiday, it's time to get those speculation gloves running just like we do every time a new game is announced. What are you interested in seeing? New Characters? Stages? Modes? Story? Etc.,

My only real desire is to see the return of Snake despite Konami's bullshit, as well as Isaac from Golden Sun who is my most wanted Nintendo character. And Travis Touchdown since I'm in a huge No More Heroes kick again

A part of me feels like this is going to be an enhanced port of the Wii U version but I'm also leaning towards it being something new. I guess I'm taking a neutral stance in both camps until the answer gets revealed in a few weeks.

Same as @Ganondorf8, All of the Smash games are like 6 years apart from each other (except Smash 4 because of the port in 3DS), it's only been 3 years! (4 if they want to do this 1 year long hype train)

It'll be a better version of the Wii U+3DS, I hope they'll listen to the community and release a Turbo mod and a adventure (or a avdenture smash like the 3DS) mod.

Given how Smash 4 didn't have an adventure mode, I would like to see Smash Switch have one.  It doesn't have to be as big as the Subspace Emissary, I would perfectly fine with having one that is similar in size and scope as the one in Melee.

Speaking of Melee, I would like to see Race to the Finish return in some capacity, whether it be only in Classic Mode, or if it can play it outside of that.  I would also like to see Break the Targets return, as I wasn't really a big fan of Target Blast in Smash 4.

I would also like to Smash Run return as it was one of my favorite things to do in Smash 3DS.

I would also like to see Custom Moves return but updated a bit and made less of a hassle to unlock.

Some characters I would like to see in the game would be:

Agumon

Laboman

either Zeraora, Decidueye, or Gen 8 Pokemon Trainer

the return of the Ice Climbers

Shantae

A reworked Ganondorf who uses magic attacks instead of being a Captain Falcon clone

Ridley

Bandanna Dee

Spring Man

I would also like to see Lucina and Dark Pit function similarly to how the Koopa Kids are just alternate skins with unique models to Bowser Jr.  Also maybe Daisy as well for Peach.

Incorrect. Super Smash Bros Melee was released not even exactly three years after Super Smash Bros 64. Evidence points toward the usual development time being 3-4 years total. There was a large number of years between Melee and Brawl, and then Brawl and SSB4, which is true. However with the Wii U not selling so well, Nintendo may have felt like they needed to pressure development of a new SSB on the next platform quicker. I'm not saying I can really understand the actual reasoning, but it has been said by Sakurai that he has been working on this in secret for quite some time.

As I've stated previously in other topics on this matter, the way Nintendo went about teasing/revealing this game is 100% how you do not reveal a port of any kind. Even if Nintendo thought they had some reason they had to be vague about it for some odd reason (with all of the hype for a SSB4 enhanced port, I don't think Nintendo had to do this), they still could have thrown in some SSB4 signs that people who pay more attention would see but are still subtle enough to pass by more casual watchers. These would include beginning the Splatoon character introduction with the fiery cross logo animation (of which they did even before the initial reveal of Villager before the first trailer of SSB4), citing Bandai Namco in the credits (which would be 100% necessary if this is a port), and using the same logo as SSB4 just without "for the Wii U" or "for the 3DS".

Yet not even a single one of those are present. That would just make things worse if this is revealed to still be an enhanced port. If it was I would call this very misleading advertising, and I absolutely would not buy the game.

Am I really the only one who's 100% convinced it's not a port? I understand that we're not going to know for sure until E3, but like @Envy said, everything points towards it being a new game.

Not only is Nintendo holding an invitational tournament with pro Smash players, they name-dropped it twice when they announced their E3 plans on Twitter, as seen above. I just don't understand why they would push it so much if it was only a port of the Wii U game.

As for what I'm interested in seeing in the new Smash, I'd like to see representation from other Switch games. A Mario Odyssey stage, Snipperclips assist trophy, Spring Man as a playable character, stuff like that. I also wonder if Mario's move set is going to change to accommodate Cappy. Same goes for BotW Link and his Rune abilities.
