"I mean, don't get me wrong," Oliver said, "I'm not planning to run and leave you alone in this. I'm sticking with you no matter what." He smiled at her, almost sadly. "I just hope I won't get in your way."

"I honestly wouldn't blame you if you did." Jenna admitted "And don't worry, you won't get on my way, though sometimes getting in the way is the right thing to do." "Just promise to keep me in check, if I seem irrational at any point, don't be afraid to point it out." she smiled at him, she didn't have any worries about her sanity or anything, but she didn't know how she acted under this type of stress, and knew that it was possible that she wouldn't think straight all the time.

"I will," Oliver said, smiling. "Just be careful. I don't want you to get hurt, or worse. I know you can take care of yourself no problem, but you never know what could happen. Heck, neither of us know."

Jenna put her hand around Oliver and pulled him closer, leaning on him, she didn't say anything as she didn't know what to say, she wasn't nearly as sure of her own capabilities as Oliver seemed to be, but she didn't want to bring it up and worry him.

Oliver smiled and blushed as Jenna put her arm around him and pulled him close to her. He certainly didn't object to it, happily letting her lean on him. He sat closer and put his own arm around her, hoping to comfort her a little.

Jenna stayed quiet, there was nothing to say, and it was good to enjoy the peaceful moment now that they still had a chance, sure it wasn't exactly quiet, as the sounds from the military and the sound of radio-static were constant, but it was still peaceful. If Oliver didn't say or do something, they would stay like this for about half an hour before Jenna broke the relative silence, "We need to start preparing." she would pull her hand away and wait for Oliver to do the same before getting up.

Oliver kept quiet, letting Jenna relax beside him. It was relatively quiet, and it was somewhat comforting with her beside him.

He watched as she got up, and he stood up with her. "What do we do first?"

"First we need to check that everything in the building is secured, or in other word, I need you to come with me...inside? downstairs?...down the makeshift stairs, and see if you see anything that I may have missed where someone or something could get in." Jenna said and started making her way down "Then I'll show you where's what in case you need to get something from the boxes." "Then you can prepare your own things if you have anything while I try to get connection to anything with the stuff on the roof." "There's also some stuff that's needed on the roof so carrying that is also a thing, it's not heavy, but I can tell from experience that these stairs are not good when you are carrying something."

Oliver listened closely to Jenna's instructions, nodding slowly.

"Yeah, I can handle carrying stuff around," he assured her. "I'm sure the stairs aren't so bad. Maybe we can find something to secure them?"

"It's not really about how secure they are." Jenna said "It's what they are." "You may remember that yesterday I said that stairs are too material heavy and ladders would be too hard to climb, well, my solution was these, which are something in between." "So they are basically very steep stairs, which makes climbing them harder when you can't really see where you are going."

"Well like I said, we could find a way to secure them so they're safer," Oliver pointed out. " That way it'll be easier to move around and get stuff up and down, without getting hurt. Maybe put lights there or something."

"I went through all kind of designs and this is the most optimal one." Jenna stated "And light won't help you see your legs through the things you're carrying." "It is what it is and the stairs won't change, I just warned you so that you're prepared." "I'll make some sort of elevator system if there's any need to get anything heavy up there at some point, but until then, this is what we got." for the first time she was showing signs of impatience, she wasn't looking for suggestions in this matter, she had stressed over the stairs among other things so much that she simply didn't want to hear what she may have done wrong.

"Alright, I was just suggesting," Oliver said, shrugging. "I mean, it's easier to get stuff done when there's more than one of you."

He looked around again. "So, is there any other stuff we need too?"

"Right now, no, but later maybe, depends on how things go." Jenna said "If you don't see any spots I may have missed while securing this place, I'll start showing you what we have and where." she would then proceed to do exactly that, showing Oliver what boxes had what, everything from food and water to toilet paper and batteries, there was flashlights, walkie-talkies, tools, pretty much everything one could possibly need in a bad situation, where she had gotten all this? who knows, but some of the stuff was dusty enough to indicate that she had had them for a while.

Oliver followed Jenna around, listening as she showed him what was where. He nodded and took note of the supplies and how much there were.

"How long have you been gathering this stuff?" he asked. "Have you known about all this all along?"

"I have been gathering stuff since I first moved on my own." Jenna explained "And no, I didn't know anything, preparing just kinda comes naturally with conspiracies." she continued half-joking, it was true, but it was also a joke.

"I just hope we can get a nice bed in here some day," Oliver said, frowning as he looked around. "It doesn't feel right that you have to live in a big, cold warehouse. You should at least have something nice to sleep on."

"If the situation ends up being calm enough that we have time to worry about beds, it will be safe to head to my apartment." Jenna pointed out " The reason why I brought sleeping bags instead of anything better is because I'm not sure how long we can stay here."

"I could always check to see if the route to your apartment is safe," Oliver offered, smiling at her. "You know me, I can smell out danger from miles away, so I'll know for sure if it's safe for you or not."

"That'll be planned when it is relevant, currently everything is safe as nothing has happened yet." she took out a small box that had in it two pairs of sound protected earmuffs, some earplugs, two pairs of very dark sunglasses and two welding masks, she gave it to Oliver "Here, this is what we need on the roof."

Oliver blinked and took the supplies, wondering what they could possibly need them for.

"What're these for?" he asked, looking at her and tlting his head. "Are you gonna do some welding up there or something?"

"In the video we saw, the portal thingy seemed like it was very bright and very loud." Jenna explained "So I got us eye and ear protection, we don't want to ruin our eyesight or hearing after all." "But since we don't know how bright or how loud it is exactly, I figured it was better to over estimate rather than underestimate."

"That makes sense," Oliver agreed, nodding. "Better to be safe than sorry, I guess."

He looked around at the other supplies. "Are there any places nearby we could go to get more? Just in case we run out or anything."

"Depends on the situation." Jenna said "And on how many people will stay in their homes." "If everyone evacuates, shops and houses will be full of stuff we may need, if not, well, we'll have to see then." "Sure that would be technically illegal, but if we really end up staying here long enough that we run out of things...well, I don't think there will be anyone around to uphold the law at that point anymore."

"I think, at that point, people wouldn't really mind us stealing a few things," Oliver pointed out. "I mean, if it gets that bad, there'd be bigger things to worry about than someone stealing a few loaves of bread, right?"
