Question on how the Rainbow eyes work.

Ok, so sometimes we see one of the Mane 6 get Rainbow eyes after a sudden realization. 

This was somewhat talked about in this thread.

But, that is 4 years old and things have changed in MLP since then, the OP from the topic said that it was when a pony realized a problem, and had a realization, but again, this has probably changed and there is probably more information on it. Not sure if that is enough to leave it un-merged, but why not try.

So anyway, do we know what this really means? why does it happen? and what other instances has it happened besides the ones listed in the topic posted above?

That only applied in Season 4 in the episodes where The Mane 6 get their objects that ultimately unlocks the chest of the Tree of Harmony. It not only helped the Mane 6 defeat Tirek. But the Chest planted itself in the ground growing into the Castle of Friendship. The Rainbow Eyes arc was closed a long time ago. I even wrote in each episode where it happened pointing out the steps.

Ok, I actually went to the wiki page, and I understand it all now.

i remember now that the glow had a certain correlation to something that would happen in the future, which were the keys. So the keys were an item that had sentimental value to the ponies, that was acquired by doing the right thing.

Thanks, now sure what will happen to this topic noe though.
