ManaMinori 4,145 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 (edited) Not people who go to cons in fursuit, or pedos, or anything, just people who like anthropormorphic animals. That's not a bad thing. It's no cause to give the term "furry" a bad rep. Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Goofy, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Big Bird, Daffy Duck, Babs and Buster Bunny, Lola Bunny, Bugs Bunny, Nick Wilde, Judy Hopps, the Ninja Turtles- all these are anthropormorphic creatures, and there are people- both old and young- who like these characters, and could be considered "furries", as the love of anthropormorphic animals is what that originated as. Furries wear fursuits and go to cons, and some don't. Both are equally furries, and I treat and view them the same. We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we say. Phosphor 11,529 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 I've wondered about that myself. When I see the term furry, I think of the folks wearing fursuits in public or drawing lots of anthropomorphic characters, many of which aren't from a specific show. I'm not in the furry fandom but I don't see anything wrong with it.
Ganondox 899 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 People a fan of anthropomorphic characters doesn’t automatically make one a furry. Furries are part of the furry fandom, it’s hard to define exactly what they are but people know it when they see it.
Ganondorf8 11,321 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 And yet the idea of people dressed as these characters--fursuiters--is typically what most people associate the term 'furry' as being.

SharpWit 2,675 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 I've noticed a particular style tends to be used by furries, mostly in peices of artwork, so although people might have been inspired from the likes of Disney's Robin Hood, I don't often see a tribute to the source but maybe that's because I'm not a member of the community so what I come across is a very limited view to what might be out there. The thing that erks me about them is when their passion starts showing up in everyday life. Idk. With us for example, I'll se someone in a t-shirt. Fine, but if I see someone walking around with the ears and tail it makes the old grumpy guy in me come out.
Dabmanz 2,139 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 In Australia we have a chocolate called furry friends and believe it or not it has nothing to do with people dressing up in costumes.
Rainbow Dash 1,472 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 Alot of bronies wear pony suits. Does that make them exclusively furries? There is this whole meta debate about are bronies furries or not. In any case, owning a fursuit is not a prerequisite to being a furry. Just liking the art or community is enough to be called one. Thats like saying only people who own legit cosplays are cosplayers. Or that only people who know Tara Strongs most obscure roles are considered bronies. Furries are individuals who enjoy the art, community, suits, or media made by others in the community or by major publishers like Disney or Warner Brothers. R.I.P. Rixton 1,105 September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 Furry stuff is not just about anthro characters, some of them creates fanfics, fanarts and other stuff with feral characters, and I believer Brony and Furry are almost the same. heavens-champion 1,905 September 18, 2018 Share September 18, 2018 Let's just say people thinking that furries are zoophiles are another example of why ignorance is highly unpopular.
Here No Longer 5,276 September 19, 2018 Share September 19, 2018 Honestly, it's actually kind of hard to define exactly what a furry is, but usually you'll know if somebody's a furry or not. (Usually, that is.) Nonetheless, society seems to forget that not all furries wear fursuits. Some of them are just a little more subtle.
cuteycindyhoney 13,307 September 19, 2018 Share September 19, 2018 I never would wear a fur suit, but I adore anthro artwork. Some of it is quite lovely. So I guess that makes me sort of a furry at heart. I do know that the first female cartoon character I had a crush on was Gadget Hackwrench. Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
