gaming Google Stadia.

As a gamer, no. I see no need to add another gaming platform to my collection (unless it's cheap or free).

I sure hope game developers don't release their games first on Google Stadia though, and I really hope they don't make amazing exclusive games for it, as that always annoys me. I play Xbox One, not PlayStation 4, so I know what the feeling is like and I don't appreciate it. Make Xbox great again.

Not to drink the kool-aid or anything, but this seems really impressive. It actually makes all three of the gaming companies seem like there a step behind.

Noooo thank you. Majority of games that are free from Google Play contain bugs and obvious microtransactions. Google is clearly shooting themselves in the foot here. There are a few gaming apps that are amazing, though they're quite a rare sight.

Dead thread lulz. So I know that I'm an ideal Stadia candidate, but Google is doing nothing to boost confidence in buyers. First, currently there's no real release date other than 'November 2019'. Second, they don't have any games that you can't get anywhere else. Google is notorious for trying things out because other platforms have made money at it, and then dropping it later because it's not the screaming success they were hoping. While I understand that if I buy a game digitally it's not mine, I expect to have access to it indefinitely. If Stadia goes under in two, five, seven years, I have to buy another copy of Cyberpunk 2077 again, and I have a bluetooth controller that may not interface with anything else. Now, I do have a fiber connection coming into my house, and two of my consoles are directly linked to my router, because I'm a snob like that, and I could have the same setup for Stadia, if I chose to buy it, but I'm not going to. I'm fascinated by the service, but I'm not interested. I'm fascinated by car wrecks on the side of the road, but I'm not going to join in for the lulz.

Now Google is talking about negative latency and predictive button presses. This actually isn't really anything new, and was implemented in Duke Nukem 3D. Getting classy up in here. The thing is that Google hasn't really proven that they can actually DO the thing. A service like Stadia isn't new or inventive. They tend to fail due to the infrastructure needed, lack of consumer belief in the product, and the ability to perform based on promises made. Google has a lot of money to throw around, but they do tend to get bored easily, when they see a new shiny toy.

Also, beware your data caps. Assuming it's running at 4k, 60 frames per second, and you're streaming Cyberpunk 2077... Oof.

I do believe that eventually this is where the future of gaming is going, but I think this particular service needs a few more months/years in the oven. I'm not sure why Google is so insistent to shove it out the door, aside from 2019 holiday. The PS5/XBomination are coming out next year, and the Switch is happily printing its own money.

Will you get one?

No. I dislike services in general. Basically if it's something that has to be provided continuously (electricity, internet connection, phone service), then I am OK with paying for it every month. However, it it's something static (movie, music), then I'd rather buy the Laserdisc or record or Bluray or whatever and not pay for it every month.

Most games fall into the second category, except MMOs and I do not play MMOs.

Also, I play the most games when I am on vacation and usually I do not have a great internet connection there.

Anyway, I dislike the "Cloud" stuff, unless can run it on my own servers.
