Meeting pony fans irl unexpectedly

Has anyone ever just been minding their own business and been approached by a fellow pony fan?

I happened to be thrifting, with a Spike plush in my hand, when this woman who reveals herself as a a g1 collector- asks me if that was the new version of Spike that I had, and we struck up a conversation about ponies. Of course, being the socially awkward hermit that I am, I wanted nothing more than to get away, but all in all, it was a nice moment getting to share my love of ponies irl with someone.

Any irl unexpected experiences with fellow fans that anyone wants to share?

Yes, as a matter of fact! (I work at a movie theater, and I'm the doorman.) One time, I was standing at my stand, (I guess that's what you'd call it.) and I was bored, so I was drawing a picture of a human version of Rarity on my sketch pad. Then, a bunch of people started to come by, so I started taking their tickets and directing them to their theaters. Then, this hispanic guy (I think he was about 14 or 15.) told me: "I like your drawing!" or "Nice picture!" or something along those lines. Then he said: "I know who that is, by the way. I'm a fan, too." I was pretty happy. :D

Oh really nice.

As for me --- meh, no luck so far. :mlp_icwudt: But that's maybe because I don't have/wear anything, that would sell me out when I'm in public, so to speak. :P ...Other than the ponified wallpaper on mobile. dfEG13d.png

A couple of weeks ago in Walmart I heard a little girl about five or six loudly exclaim "I love Pinkie Pie!". (There was a display with a picture of Pinkie) The little girl was so cute. I told her that Twilight was my favorite. She told me that Twilight was okay, but Pinkie was still her favorite. The little girl, her mom, and I chatted for a bit about ponies. It was really nice.

At the beginning of my previous semester, I was waiting outside my calculus classroom for the class before mine to get out, and one of the guys who came out looked over at my Rainbow Dash hat and said, "That hat is 20% cooler!". I haven't seen him much since though. :P

There were two or three others in my store but I think they've all moved on now because of school or whatever. I got a brohoof while wearing my Luna shirt not far from there, and another time in my Dash hoodie after me and this one other guy were helping push a car out of the snow.

Also, I don't know if it counts, but I saw a kid in a Dash costume today and after confirming it had a cutie mark and wasn't just a fancy rainbow dance outfit, I said "Rainbow Dash is best pony" and it got a few chuckles from the parents. Funnily enough, the little girl seemed a bit confused, probably being too young to have yet learned the net lingo.

This has only happened to me twice...

First time was when I was at a meet with a few other homeschool students at a park, and this guy walks up to me, points out my RD shirt and says "Hey nice shirt, pegasister." We got to talking and such. Turns out he was actually the cousin of one of my best friends at the time.

The second time, was when I was at Legoland with my family and this random girl walked past me and said "I love your shirt!"  (It was the same RD shirt btw) :-D

I saw a gal wearing a Fluttershy shirt at City Museum in St Louis one day. I said nice shirt and she looked at me like I was from another planet.
