Hypothetical Granny Smith's death episode?

I don't know why, but we all subconsciously think about Gtanny Smith's death since day 1. I think it would be a risky but if done right, an amazing episode. What do you think about Granny Smith's death episode? Do you think it's too much for kids to include such a heavy subject? (I heard they dialed it down at Tank's hibernation episode.) Do you think it's necessary, and why? What do you think it might turn out to be? If it's gonna happen, what will be your best way to make it?

That would be waaaaaaaaay too sad for a kid's show like this. Granny's been around since the very beginning! Giving kids the feel of losing someone they loved and respected in a show that's supposed to be a haven real-life? It ain't much of a haven anymore in that case!

A lot of shows have dealt with death, I believe the most monumental being Sesame Street when Mr. Hooper died. They just straight up told Big Bird he ain't coming back. Big Bird didn't get it because it was the first time he had encountered death, and was like Yo, I'll just give him this picture when he's back. Alvin and the Chipmunks covered death with Cookie Chomper III, and then there was Mr. Rogers who covered just about everything with style and grace. Land Before Time, Wonder Years, Up, Hook, Never Ending Story *RIP Artax*, here's a list of them FFS.

Kids should be told about death. Should it be Granny Smith who is smote by the cartoon gods? Perhaps not, given the limited number of episodes left. Because Tanks for the Memories was temporary, and he was coming back, it was less agonizing. Plus he's a tortoise, and they live forever. At the same time, it was still a feeling of profound loss for a character who, in that episode, was supposed to have the mentality of a child, that winter takes forever.

MLP can't cover every topic in the limited run they got left, nor should they. I hope Granny Smith makes it through healthy and hale.

@Troblems you can’t be in this thread until you finish Season 7 and watch Perfect Pear with me!

Also I definitely agree with you, and do want to add one element, children should not be sheltered by loved one’s passing. But often times it’s not the death that is important in a kids show, it’s showing specifically how everyone reacts to it, and that people will heal over time. That family continues. No show can prepare you for the death of a loved one, but it could help kids with what comes after.

One more before I apparently get spoilered, although not specifically a kids show, I know I watched him a lot as a kid.

I would much rather have an episode where it's revealed that Granny Smith IS death! Complete with scythe and cowl.

...And then I found this!

Well .... considering what one can make from apple seeds ... it isn’t too far off.

Yeah, I highly doubt this will ever happen. Yeah, I know it's hypothetical but it's kind of weird of thinking about a MLP:FiM character dying.

The "King Sombra might be okay" guy does not believe this will ever happen. :nom: I like the idea, I agree nothing is impossible, I know about the original darker concepts of both Tank's hibernation and Philomena, I even believe that the show's creators will respect the wishes of Faust and have Applejack's parents be dead like Faust intended. But all the way throughout the show's run, it's been consistent with Hasbro's alleged "no killing off characters" policy, so I doubt that they would throw a curve ball right at the end.

Cue episode where they reveal Granny Smith has actually been dead for years. That's why she was present at the founding of Ponyville, which was actually *hundreds* of years ago...

She didn't die in over 9 years of a show running, and she wouldn't suddenly die in the last season.

Okay fine...

Spoiler

"You never take me alive!" Screamed in fear Granny. In front of her was Applejack. She was standing in front of her with maniac grin, "I was counting on you to say that, you witch." With a swift swing of the axe she plunges the blade into her grandma.

What? You said hypothetical, and I am really good with OOC behaviors.

Shouldn't die, nor does she need to die. It's way to sad to happen right now, and it would feel really pointless
