According to sources, G5 is supposed to be a continuation of G4... But, hmm.  Maybe things have changed too much, maybe even the name of the nation. :worry:

As I see it the nation of Equestria do not exist any more right. The three tribs is once again splitt upp.

You're probably right...! If harmony no longer exists, how can the kingdom of harmony exist!? It's back to living the nomadic lives separated into three tribes... Which begs to mind...where are the Windigoes? :sunny:

I imagine it's like Game of Thrones where the setting is in one of the 7 kingdoms, of Westeros. The nation of Equestria is gone, but it's still an associated name.

Another example could be how the people of the original 13 colonies could be generalized even before independence, and despite the people themselves being more closely assigned with their colony. I.E, George Washington would have considered himself a Virginian prior to the conflict.

Who knows. The mention of FIM’s time mentioned as “Ancient Equestria “ implies the territory’s name remains as Equestria. However, it’s also possible to not be the case with the segregation of the different species of pastel horses

It's kind of sad to see Equestria as we know it gone. I wonder how many magical airtifacts survived from the FiM times? That period being called ancient Equestria, and seeing the advancements in pony technology leads me to believe that unless efforts were made to preserve history, a lot of it could be gone for good. Especially because since the three main tribes are enemistated, probably not much effort was made to preserve historical airtifacts from the ridiculous times were everyone lived in harmony.

The land is probably still gonna be called Equestria - just the Nation of Equestria will probably be no more. Just like Europe and the European Union are two different things, so are probably Equestria and the Princessdom of Equestria.

When you asked the question, I was thinking your question was more "is the character of the land the same?" instead of "is the land still called Equestria?"

To answer your question, I don't know if they'll call it that---probably the name Equestria will be familiar, if not actively used.

But what made me think "This is the same G-4 universe" was how, in the trailer, all the townponies ran like crazy when they thought a threat was coming:  that's totally G-4 right there, with prey-animal instincts on display!

All that hard work, friendship, lessons and dedication to see Equestria thrive and blossom throughout Generation 4... Gone.

I suppose one must honestly wonder what could've happened to cause such an insane turn of events which brought about such an unprecedented conclusion of the land.

Well, if the translated lyrics from the new song, "Fit Right In," are anything to go on...

Spoiler

Well find the magic inside, this’ll be the time of our lives!

In the lost kingdom of equestria,

We’ll follow our hearts and we will succeed!

.... lost kingdom? Maybe none of them are living in the old homeland anymore?

Or it's a strong possibility that the Kingdom of Equestria under Princess Twilight's rule collapsed? Thus the Earth Pony, Pegasi, and Unicorns segregated?

I was wondering about that after hearing the lyrics.
