Whatever Happens Next Is All Sunny's Fault

At the end of the movie Sunny finally succeeded in giving Equestria back its magic. Ponies can fly now and can freely use magic once again (after learning how it works, after all depending on how long they went without it I doubt anybody can cast even the simplest of spells anymore). All is well again for the little ponies, right? ...I mean, it's not like some big bad villain is just going to spring into action. They don't even have the magic to...oh mother of Luna, they do now!

This is an idea that sprouted in my mind the day after I saw the film. The Earth ponies lived in fear of the other 2 races to go and built traps and machines to defend themselves. The other 2 races are not as fearful but they do react in a way to defend against and even arrest the other races on sight. So far there has not been a serious villain to so much as rob a bank in this present. But now that magic has been restored to the three races, doesn't this open the doors to a new Sombra, Trixie or even a Pony Of Shadows type of villain?

Sure, not all villains are ponies but this generation of ponies seem to be more concerned about each other than anything else...at least with the Earth ponies, as they are the only side to show actual outright fear. We can go ahead and assume that the non pony races never lost their magic, but now the ponies have opened a door for a villain to arise and do some damage, and it is all because of Sunny for giving them that magic. That's just something that is going to happen sooner or later.

Will the first true villain of Gen5 be a pony who went evil with magic and if so, would Sunny feel some sort of guilt to overcome? And, just a side note, if restoring magic somehow leads to Tirek, Cozy Glow and Chrysalis returning that would be such an ironic turn of fate. X3

Thank you for reading and please share your thoughts below. ^^

If the non-pony species never lost their magic, then the ponies regaining theirs could just as easily end up being the only thing that lets them defend themselves from the next Big Bad to show up.

Plus you have to weigh all that against their quality of life. The earth ponies were living in constant fear, buying useless Canterlogic products to fend off a nonexistent threat (and if Sprout hadn't gotten it in his head to launch a pre-emptive strike against the other tribes, chances are somepony else eventually would have). The unicorns were still in a funk over losing their magic, their society having mostly stagnated. The pegasi appeared to be doing a bit better, but they were still shaken up when it was revealed that the royal family couldn't actually fly.

We have to consider intent here. Sunny could not have known about the negative aspects of bringing the magic back, so, while she may have caused it, she is not responsible. Also, peace betweel the three groups of ponies is a good thing.

Why are villains boring?

90% of villains in G4 were literally just unicorns who had tragic backstories, redeemed by the good guys, or made into a antagonist role just for the sake of having one

I think that Sunny isn't the villain or even an antagonist for causing the restoration of magic to the pony races as this topic seems to portray her as. The problem all comes down to this - does something bad resulting from something good cause that good to be bad? To put this into perspective, Sunny caused something good to happen, the restoration of magic, but let's say an evil pony comes along and uses that magic to do something bad - does that make the restoration of magic bad? One can argue that it does make the good turn to bad because that bad would never have existed if the good never happened. One could also argue that the good does not turn to bad because each person (or pony in this instance) is responsible for how they use the good that was given to them. Regardless of what side of the argument you take, it all comes down to your view of morality on a philosophical level.

Nope, don’t agree.
1-Possibly, a villain comes, and ponies need their magic

2-if a pony with their newfound magic uses it for evil, you can’t hold accountable the Mane 5 for it. While thanks to them, the evil pony(es) got their means to be a threat, they are the only ones responsible for their actions >_>

Well, let me be the first to say I never intended for my thought to hold Sunny at fault like you guys said, I know she can't be arrested or thrown in jail by just bringing about the next pony villain about. I never actually considered what I wrote had implied it that way.

What I meant would kinda be like how Twilight's school led Cozy Glow to be the villain she ended up as. She was already shown to be on that path, but was just the one bad apple to not take the lessons to heart and went down the dark road when Twilight's school gave her the means to do so. No school, no Cozy Glow. Although I'm certain Cozy would had found another way, Twilight's school just sped her across the finish line. Sunny restoring magic would have the same effect.

I agree that blaming someone for another's actions just for giving the means is wrong and terrible to even suggest. Sorry if I sounded like I was doing that before. ^^; I should've been more clear.

Might be a good idea to change the topic's name---if it's possible to do that.

Personally, I harbor suspicions that there was no inter-tribe war, and instead, something happened centuries ago that made the tribes willingly part ways, and then make up the war to try to keep the three tribes separated.  Maybe it was the fact that villains keep coming to try to steal their magic, so they figured the magic wasn't worth the hassle.

If that's the case, then restoring magic will bring the villains back, too...and Sunny might just blame herself for that!

Would the re-title be? If can change it by holding my mouse over it.

If there was war I am certain the ponies of today would had kept it in books or some sort of fairy tale. The Earth Ponies, as scared as they were, would've been the ones to remember it. They built ROBOTS and traps to defend themselves, if that was due to a war they would had kept reminding Sunny or Sprout's mom would've said it like a catchphrase. Chances are a war 'might' had came about, but could the ponies of the present really had forgotten it? By how they kept reacting to each other, something had to have seeded that fear for so long. So if not an old war, then what?

Maybe the last villain was an Alicorn? Horn, wings, so maybe Twilight turned into Midnight Sparkle after all? ^^;
