People don't actually think this looks good, do they?

The voice acting, animation and dialogue are TERRIBLE.

 

Rewatched the trailer, and OK, MAYBE I was a bit harsh.

 

How do you feel about the new VAs for the Mane Five?

I thought they removed Izzy's bracelet but thankfully I saw it in the thumbnail.

That doesn't mean they're terrible though, surely? Personally I think they do a great job.

I got used to the new voices right away, which I found surprising.

Something about the visuals still looks really off to me but I was decently immersed by the end of the clip. Hooray for the bare minimum! I'm a little more excited for the special than I was previously.

For me, their voices seems fine, except Izzy's. I can't help but wish that Izzy's voice was closer to her voice in MLP:ANG.

I think that having celebrities voice the main characters in an opening film isn't the wisest decision as it would be unlikely that the all the final voice-actors will be able to sound just like the celebrity voice actors and that can really impact the quality of watching the series.

I guess that means the happy ending from the G5 movie was only temporary given what this clip shows. It makes sense as you can't really expect problems to just go away like that. These things take time to be fully resolved.

Yeah, Izzy just sounds so annoying, she was endearing in the movie, but here? She's just irritating.

Honestly; I thought the animation was better than I was expecting. Yeah it's a downgrade from the movie, but I was expecting that. What we get is actually lively and colorful; just missing the detail and such.

Also I like the new VAs; just need to give em time.

This clip is an interesting look into what the special will be like.

I'll start off by mentioning that the animation here is a bit disappointing. The character models look a bit cheap, and the movements are ridged. While it isn't completely compromising, this lower quality animation looks off and makes this production feel cheap. Along with that, the voice acting here also sounds off. It was really noticeable with Izzy, who's voice is lacking the character it had in the movie, but even comes off as obnoxious at times. As of now, I am not a big fan of these aspects of MYM.

Now, onto the actually content and story of the preview itself, I am interested. This clip establishes that Mane Melody from TYT has carried over to MYM, and that Pipp is likely tryinhg to cheer up her concerned sister. Then, it shows that Windy has fallen out of the sky onto some others, who are upset. Not only does this relate to the trailer and how magic is glitching out, but it also shows the tension that is forming in Maretime Bay. Also, it is cool to see that Windy has a role in this MYM special. Then there is a storm that suddenly appears as the conflict ensues, which is likely a result of the fighting. Lastly, it is shown that conflict causes the unity crystals to glitch along with pony magic as a whole. While I'll wait until I watch the special to give full judgement on this aspect, I'm not a fan of basic conflict causing magic to glitch. Will magic just glitch out every time there is a little argument or scuffle? The way pony magic is being handled and executed in this generation is a bit concerning. That being said, I am still interested to see MYM.

The animation momentarily look bad and then good, which obviously aren't great news since the series lacks of consistence... Unfortunately, but hopefully the plot will be enough interesting to "mislead us" about that.

Even though this is still high-quality animation for a little kids show, let's just keep complaining about how it doesn't look as good as a movie originally made for theaters. Just like the VA complaints, this is beating a dead horse. I don't get the fixation on inevitable downgrades.
