Yu Gi Oh played a big part of my childhood and not too long ago I got back into collecting. Not news I wanted to wake up too, especially given the circumstances surrounding his death

RIP

I grow up with Yu-GI-Oh and it’s one of my first anime and remembered collecting cards and play it. Been watching all the series up to Zexal and this is really tragic to hear and very heartbreaking. I don’t know what else to say because his death is just so.. unfortunate and unexpected. Thank you Kazuki Takahashi and his creation for being part of my childhood and so forth, Rest In Peace.

I just thought about Kazuki Takahashi last night, I'm not making this up. I've been a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! longer than any other franchise. I always read his author's notes in the manga and I can say for sure that sixty is too young for a guy like him to be leaving this world. I always knew that out of every iconic figure that could've died, his death was going to hit me the hardest. I only wish him peace.

honestly had to do a double take when I read the news, I'm not super familiar with Yu-Gi-Oh but I know plenty who are, hope he knew how much happiness he brought to people.

RIP, what an awful way to go

Never really had any connection with Yu Gi Oh, but this is still sad to hear :worry:

You definitely should give it a shot. The anime is incredibly amazing to watch as well, including the 1998 version.

Still, 2022 has been incredibly bleak. And to see that Kazuki Takahashi had passed on only adds insult to injury...

It's quite astonishing to see what is creation became. It was originally more of a dark fantasy with Yugi acting in an almost villainous role as he played death games with his tormentors. And by a stroke of luck, his parody on Magic: The Gathering really caught on. It was perfect for the kids growing out of Pokemon and parting ways with Digimon after Season 3. Yu-Gi-Oh encompassed my life for a good decade and I met some good people from it. Every now and then I still fire up my demo of the Power of Chaos game and play a few rounds.

Rest in Power, Takahashi-san. Arigatou gozaimasu.
