Finally did it! I had to do it on easy because I am honestly not that well coordinated with my middle and ring fingers, so easy was still a challenge! Either way, really fun game, well done, very sleek, and well made! Are you planning to do more songs, and if so, which ones?

I finally had the opportunity to play Friendship Melody! I was having trouble playing the music, but I managed to get the music to play!  

I played on Easy mode as I Normal has been pretty tricky, but Easy was still felt like a challenge. This was still a lot of fun to play!

No worries, having some fun is what's important. ~and these are not bad scores! I'm glad to see the easy difficulty helps players get some stars.

Thank you! I really appreciate it!  I'm happy with how it turned out, considering it's my first browser game ever (previously been using engines to create Windows apps, this time I wrote a single wall of code as is and that's the entire game), and first rhythm game too.

I don't have any plans at the moment, but if I'd decide to rerun the event featuring this game in the future once again, of course I'd bring it back with new songs to play just like now!  As for which songs, time will tell, but I'll vaguely mention, that it will probably be something from Friendship is Magic next time, to have some variety. Generally, I'm open to suggestions, so I observe feedback I get here closely.  Either way, thank you for the interest, it helps me find the motivation to work on such things sooner, than later.

Yeah the music acts so strange when served from MLPF server, works flawlessly when I load files locally. Next time I'll see if I can improve it in any way.  Either way, I'm glad you got it to work!

Here are my scores, it was a little tough for me as this was my first time playing rhythm games in a long time, I'll play it again when I'm bored to brush up on my skills, maybe try the Normal difficulty when I feel like I've gotten the hang of it.

I finally got around to playing this. Normal mode absolutely kicked my flank, I was not ready for it. Never got above 50%. Easy was way more my speed, played until I got 90% on both which took around 5 or so tries. Very fun and surprisingly addicting, I'm sure if I put in the time I'd be able to get at least 70% or 80% in the normal mode, wouldn't be easy though. Rhythm games are tough.

Hello! That's wonderful you had fun!

Actually yes, I made it in VSCode, the language is JavaScript. The entire game was programmed in a single wall of code (HTML Document). Thank you very much! ❤

 

You can adjust the dots/notes speed in options. If these are too fast to follow, you can make them fall slower, although keep in mind, that it will result in having more notes displayed on screen at once.  If the map itself is too difficult at first, consider trying out the easier modes for each map too!  

~And a friendly reminder, that if you're after the badge, you have to submit your results of both new songs - so don't forget to post results from Shine Like Rainbows (any difficulty) when you get the chance.  You can submit the second song in a new reply, I'll keep in mind you've already posted one.

I only now realise this event was taking place, and I went straight ahead to give it a try! I know I didn't score perfectly on Shine Like Rainbows, but I do hope a higher difficulty gets implemented for those talented players. This was so much fun, and I look forward to more musical events

Whoa, just like this, "hello, here's 100% and gimme hard difficulty".  What a plot twist considering, that initially the event started with normal only, and I added easier mode mid-event due to it being too hard to enjoy for most.  Not that I judge anyone or something, don't get me wrong, it's just that it's a bit of a relief for me, that lately more and more players come and successfully challenge the initial difficulty. There were moments when I was thinking, that I went too crazy, and not many will enjoy it (which was somewhat remedied by adding the easy mode), but it feels so nice to see more ponies knowing the drill, so to speak. 

I don't know about you, but personally, if I got 100% on one song, it would forever bother me if I didn't do 100% on the other. teehee~

but me in my left mind created easier difficulty with 4 keys tho 

you can also assign all cutie marks to the same key and then just smash that one key  #hacks

I gave Normal mode a try today on both songs and here are the scores I got:

I do find it easier to play "Shine Like Rainbows" in the normal mode, even though "Welcome to the Show" has less notes in normal mode it feels like the hardest for me to play. I ended up using easy mode to cheat the difficulty because my fingers felt faster than the speed of the notes but they were also harder to hit somehow

Yeah, Shine Like Rainbows is a slower song, and the difficulty mostly comes from that.

A little tip I could give is that mistaps reduce your completion rate (and score obviously) - therefore, if you're having troubles catching the notes, you could try focusing on just two paths (one for each hand) and ignore all the rest. That should make it a bit easuer and be enough to get a better score.  

You can also try toying with the note speed and layout overall in the settings.
