I think I began watching it some time around year 2022. I was late for this, but it doesn't matter how that came to happen, early or late, I think shows this well made, including music will endure for a long time. And I don't often say that about modern cartoons, most of the TV shows I like are much older than My Little Pony Friendship is Magic which came out in year 2010 and it is also generation 4. I would say MLP FIM is a rare choice for me though, when I saw clips from earlier generations I did not think much of it, just another toy ad for children. But MLP FIM is different, although still was used as a platform to sell toys, it had a story, characters and artwork I liked.

I don't remember when I started watching in earnest, but I do clearly remember watching the series premiere two-parter on that day The Hub first came into existence, October 10th, 2010.

December of 2021. The middle of the pandemic. A real old school OG Brony was my Big Broof. I hadn't hung out with him in a while, his mom had made vague statements about ponies or something. 

My knowledge of FIM at that point was R&D memes I'd seen online and didn't understand. 

We spent the night together while he was in town visiting, who'd have thought we'd end up watching FIM, but I think he knew I wouldn't hate it. I had never seen a single part of a single episode. While the intro was playing, for a moment I was thinking, why are we watching this - especially right now of all times? 

I had even owned a gen 1 pony and several gen 1 puzzles when I was a little guy, but I'd only seen snippets of the other cartoons and that was all years in the past. 

He showed me The Cutie Map (S5E1). 

I admitted to him, I enjoyed it. He had succeeded in planting the seed. 

I did not immediately set out on my first journey to FIM. There were delays, the pandemic was a monumentally busy time for me. I was working harder than ever at a very dangerous job. 

And yet. 

The seed did not die only to be excavated as a fossil later. It germinated. And sometime later I watched the very first episode. I was very impressed. And, I had questions. I wanted to know what would become of Princess Luna, now that she wasn't Nightmare Moon anymore. I was dazzled and intrigued by Princess Celestia and wanted to see more of her. I wanted above all to see what nine years of adventure would be like for these amazing Ponies. 

There was yet another delay as I stablized a few things, but 2023 was the year of my Great FIMbinge. I watched nine years of tv, specials and a film in a little over nine months. One of the perks of working third shift and being able to have my laptop and phone with me. I was just entranced. Now, I'm going through it more slowly. Savoring instead of binging. But none of it would have happened without an unexpected twist that one night during the pandemic.

So I have yet to finish it...I just made it to season two. But I started watching it to brag. No seriously that's why I am watching it because people say the show is cheesy and I want to brag and say "actually it's really good." It has been very good so far 8/10

I was relatively late to MLP. I started watching the show on the 6th of November 2015, which was a few years after the peak of the fandom. It also means it's going to be my ten year anniversary later this year. I started with the first episode and finally caught up halfway through the break between season 5 and season 6, so season six was the first season I watched at the same time as everyone else.

I think it was a little after the first Equestria Girls film came out.

I had been vaguely aware of the show but dismissed it as for girls. Then I saw this MLP pokemon parody video on YouTube which led me to the barn raising song and I found myself drawn in. It wasn't long after that I started binge-watching the entire series.

IIRC it was before or during Season 3. the way I remember the first episode I watched was Lesson Zero, though maybe not, maybe I started with the actual first episode. I remember watching a review by SFDebris and after that deciding to watch a few episodes of the show.
