If it is really problematic on your end, you could try the other version of the game. At the bottom of the game page I added a link to it. That version of the game is exactly the same, except it uses a different, compressed audio format, which is much lighter. These files don't seem to trigger these security measures, and were loading fine for me even when I was spamming the loading screen.

That format isn't as widely supported by browsers though, I've been told it doesn't work on mac at all. So, unless you're on mac, perhaps try the other version and see how it works.

Perhaps later, I may add a toggle button on the main game page to let players switch between different formats until finding one that works best.

And then I set out to improve my results on all the songs... I didn't play last year's edition much, so I got four stars on those two songs for the first time (I think I only got three last year). Soon I had four stars on all the songs. I tried easy mode too, and getting five stars there wasn't much of a challenge. But I didn't want to leave it at that!

Five stars on "Winter Wrap Up" – something I couldn't do two years ago! And the star goes to Twilight, my original best pony for a week or so. :adorkable:

Play the game available on MLP Forums, in your browser, on PC, mobile or any device that can run modern internet browsers.

The event will feature two new songs - "The Magic of Friendship Grows" and "Rules of Rarity."
Play both songs on any difficulty, and submit your results in this topic, by attaching screenshots or photos of your screen in your reply.
An example of a valid submission:

Please ensure your screenshots/photos capture the following fragments:

Title of the song (at the top - submit both, "The Magic of Friendship Grows," and "Rules of Rarity")

Your Completion Rate (on the center - must be at least 10% to qualify)

Your UID (in the bottom right corner - you have to be logged on MLPF)

These three need to be at least somewhat legible to be eligible for receiving the badge!

After you submit valid screenshots/photos of your results from both songs, you'll receive the badge within 24 hours.

You don't have to submit both in the same post. You can submit one, then come back sometime later to submit the other one. The recent post will grant you the badge, if all your posts combined meet the criteria.

If you haven't received the badge after 24 hours, please make sure your posts qualify for the badge, and feel free to ask, if you're uncertain.

2 NEW SONGS!

"The Magic of Friendship Grows" and "Rules of Rarity"!

This time the game doesn't have any particular theme. I just added songs, that were requested/mentioned during previous events. It's all for you ponies! Thank you for supporting the game! 💛 There were more songs mentioned, but it took me a long time to polish the game overall, so for now I selected only two.

Also these songs are in their full glory! I've listened to your feedback and didn't cut songs to make them shorter. You can blast pony songs on full volume and sing along!

...and nothing too crazy besides that I suppose. I improved some core parts of the game and added plenty of quality of life improvements. Probably most of these changes will be overlooked, but it's all thanks to the little details, that make the game prettier.

added save system

high scores and settings are automatically saved into your browser's storage

autosave is first-created / overwritten when:

clicking "Save" in any relevant settings menu

the moment the player enters the Results Screen after finishing the song

WARNING! How the save is stored, and if the game will be saved at all, may vary between devices/browsers. Clearing browser's data might wipe out the save as well. Browsing incognito may erase data after you close the tab, or prevent from anything being saved in the first place. Generally, it's an experimental feature, so don't take anything for granted.

DISCLAIMER The game uses auto-save feature, which, unless prevented by any means, writes a tiny little bit of data into your browser storage without any prompt. The data is strictly related to your in-game settings and scores, and absolutely nothing else. These are not cookies used for marketing (lol) or anything like this, so of course it's nothing crazy, but please be aware, that the game does something like this. If for some reason you see it as a problem, please let me know.

reduced score penalty for Mistaps from 50 to 10 points

changed slider sprites (from pink-yellow notes with star in the middle to purple notes with arrows)

it was mentioned these aren't that easy to distinguish from normal notes, so I made new sprites with vastly different colors

notes are now tilted towards the lane path

minor visual changes

song name and the difficulty is displayed in the upper left corner above score

added star rating bar above score, which displays the current success rate (completion rate in the results screen)

the bar displays segments for each star rating, and changes its color depending on current star rating

FIXED: It was reported, that sometimes the keyboard input wasn't recognized at all. It turned out, that due to my oversight, the controls were CASE-SENSITIVE. This meant, that enabled CAPS-LOCK could prevent input from being recognized. I have adjusted the key-bindings to be CASE-insensitive.

MENU NAVIGATION OVERHAUL

added full keyboard and controller support for menu navigation

now players don't have to grab the mouse just for that

added key/button hints in various menu elements

added fadeouts when entering/exiting some interface screens for smoother experience and to prevent accidental mistaps when navigating menus (notably accidentally setting volume to max after leaving results screen, due to volume slider appearing where "Return" button was - bro was I jumpscared... )

TITLE SCREEN

minor visual changes

changed background music

the game can be activated and started using space or confirm button on controller, if the canvas is active (the game window is in focus)

HOME (SONG SELECT) SCREEN

improved visuals and added new animations

song duration and map's note count is no longer displayed on entries of the song list. This information is displayed in the selected song's details to the right.

entries on the song list now display achieved best star-rating

the difficulty is no longer set on per-song basis. Instead, it's a single global setting

RESULTS SCREEN

the performance's summary in Results Screen now displays "NEW BEST!" tag if new personal best has been made

the title of played song no longer mentions difficulty by name. Instead, the difficulty is represented by its background color

LAYOUT CONFIGURATION

Note Speed setting now accurately represents the actual Speed multiplier. The default is x1.0, and it can be adjusted from x0.5 to x2.0, which realistically means from half to double speed. Previously, due to how Speed was originally programmed, it used to display a rather arbitrary value to more or less visualize the difference, but it never meant the actual multiplier, hence why the default was x1.9. In this version, how the Speed is calculated was reprogrammed to allow accurate, user-friendly configuration

Q: Do I have to download the game?

A: No, it's playable inside MLP Forums. Just keep in mind, that the game will have to load assets, notably music tracks, that might weight a bit. Refreshing the page will require the game to load assets again, and the process may vary between browsers/devices. Typically files should be cached by your browser into your local storage to avoid having to redownload them, but there are factors, that may affect this.

Q: The game broke, what should I do?

A: Refresh the page, and if possible, please reply here to let me know what happened, so that I can look into it.

Q: What if the game gets stuck at loading resources?

A: If it gets stuck on "loading music" without displaying any in-game errors, close the game and try again few minutes later. Generally, the first time you run the game, it should load the files without problems. However, if you refresh the page and attempt to load assets multiple times in quick succession, the server MLPF is run on may refuse to provide music files, and constantly refreshing the page will not help. This is something I haven't figured out a workaround for yet.

Q: I entered the Gameplay Screen, but nothing is happening, what to do?

A: The game is unplayable if relevant song file cannot be played. Given it's a rhythm, music-focused game, the timing and some of the game functions rely directly on song files and their parameters. If the song doesn't play, the map attached to it can't be played properly. This may happen, when for whatever reason the game went through the loading screen even if the files weren't properly provided by the server, OR when music files stop working in the middle of session (maybe your browser freed these from memory or something). You can try to choose another song that still works, or refresh the page to reload all files.

Because it's a browser game, and there are plenty of browsers that behave differently, and also because the game loads files from the server I have no control of, unfortunately I cannot guarantee bug-free experience despite my best efforts. When I play the game locally during development, such problems don't occur. Of course if anyone manages to find ways to improve the game's stability and quality overall, I'll do my best to try things out. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, the requirement is to get at least 10% on any difficulty. Don't worry though, getting this much isn't challenging at all, it's just something to prevent participants from waiting the songs over and posting 0%, thus getting the badge without even trying. :mlp_icwudt:

This one feels harder than Rules of Rarity, mostly because of how long it is, and how late the harder parts come in. I'm sending now, in case I can't get 100%.
