TES Online

Well this may be news to some, but it's been known for a few weeks that TES Online is on the way in the future. With the information already released about it, what are your opinions about what has been released.

I am honestly not too excited and not looking forward to this Mmo. From what I understand, The progression through the game I will find quite uninteresting for an Mmo, even worse than that of Sw:ToR (Which I didn't enjoy at all). I also don't personally think that it will feel like a good addition to TES. I am quite a fan of the series, and all the things that make it an Elder Scrolls game I feel will be lacking. Simply because it wont function the same way at all gameplay wise.

I really do think that TES should be just a different game with a different story. It just comes off as a theme park mmo to me, like how ToR is a theme park mmo. and I just don't think many TES fans will enjoy the game for what it is other than playing with friends and perhaps the lore simply because it may feel like a bad spin off or something.

I guess that it is way too soon to have a final opinion, but I just am not impressed at all.

But what do you ponies think for what has been discovered about TES Online?

well..I'm interested in the fact a ES game is going online.

Not really liking the fact its going to be a MMO. There are so many out there right now. It'll only weaken the amount of people that go for it. I've always wanted them to allow some high end dungeons in their games that make it MMO like, but instead having a multiplayer option to have friends join in. Keeping the ES gameplay but allowing the user their own personal world to take place in. Kind of like the Fable games, where you have your own world, but you can drag friends in to make it multiplayer.

Yeah that model would be much better. Like a friend or 2 would be perfect. But I feel that the mmo modle would just be a piss poor example of what playing TES with friends could ever be.

And honestly, I think it would be better to try the 2 player or 3 player system first, get feedback and see how the fans react to it. That would give a good foundation to see the pros and cons of having another player in Tamriel, and how to improve upon them for a mmo format.

The 3 factions idea sounds kind of cool. but it can limit the whole "Be who you want to be" which is an important aspect of the game, just to be able to do whatever you can with what the game allows. Like stealing everything in a town, or joining factions and guilds as any race. such as an Altmer warrior, and a Breton thief or whatever is your call.

I've been a fan of the series for awhile but I haven't exactly heard enough about this to give a decent opinion. I just hope "Bethesda" or whoever is behind this idea doesn't force the whole series into the ground with this new game.

that be who you want, reminds me of SWTOR :(

I was hoping you werent going to be stuck picking a side. Would have been nice to be able to start as neutral at lvl 1, then along the way you decide whether or not you want to be sith or jedi. How does this tie into TES, if they allowed you to "switch" or not be locked down into a certain side it would be cool. I'm not asking to be able to jump w/e I want. But if they have a difficult quest that took skill(not players) and time to change faction.

Just to allow players the ability to choose their play style.

Exactly, and I mean I guess you can say "Well you can pick your play style, just pick a race that fits the faction/playstyle" but what if I don't agree with the political system that the Daggerfall covenant follows but I like my Dark elf, or Argonian races? That causes a limitation towards immersion.

I forget the company's name I think it begins with a "Z" though. Bethesda kind of watching from a distance or something, though I don't think they are actually taking much part in it's development. It is basically a TES game being made by different developers from my understanding. That will already make it feel not like a true TES game potentially.

From the screenshots it looks like a joke compared to the other games in the series. In all likelihoods it will be another theme park game and wont do the series justice at all, but like you said, its too early to really tell. I think it will be bad, there is only one MMO that I am at all interested in and it is very unknown compared to other ones. I think Darkfall 2.0 will be awesome. Every other MMO that i've seen that either came out recently or is suppose to come out soonish looks boring and bad in general. I knew from very early on that SWOTR would just be starwars WoW. This will probbaly be ES WoW.

It is a real shame they ended SWG and then ToR became such a flop. Though if you ask me ES Online is trying to be more like GW2 and not WoW. It will probably play like wow, but it will probably quest like either ToR or GW2's system. Not to mention the questing is solo. Meaning it's an mmo but the story is only on you which sounds cool, but doesn't really fit with an mmo. That is if my information is correct on that.

That is what killed ToR for me. Not much to do at max level, and the leveling was so boring because it felt like a single player game only I was collecting 20 of this, killing 30 of these, etc over and over for a long grind.

yup, Coming from old school MMOs, DAoC, EQ, era, most of todays games have become solo games + multiplayer attachments.

it stinks for the MMO feel, but its whats in for the market.

I remember getting a group of people together because it was faster leveling with a group than it was soloing. Now it doesnt seem the case.

The difference in questing between WoW and GW2 is so small that it doesn't even phase my opinion of it at all. For me, pvp is the most important thing in any game because that is what I will be doing end game and if its boring and stupid then forget it. That's why most MMO's are boring to me at least.

Many games still do this, the problem is that leveling itself is boring as all hell. Edited by Bohtty

I have to agree with you there. Its why I keep signing into DAoC every now and then(the model being used for TES) pvp.

This BG pvp imo is dumb, I like the idea of open world objective based pvp.

you know you're probably right, I know when I group up with my friends on wow it just gets boring leveling

For me it's not usually where I pvp that is the problem, but rather how the combat works. Nobody is doing anything interesting with combat and as a result nothing is fun right now T_T

Hardly, they just got rid of the click to target. It's still a massive piece of shit imo.

It has click targeting?

did you play on release or beta?

I started playing around 2 weeks ago and there was no clicking :(

would've made it quite fun for pvp if it was click...more challenging too

No I haven't played at all. Not worth it at all. Clicking to target by nature completely removes 99% of the skill involved in pvp. Not that it matters with tera, it mine as well have clicks for all the skill that games pvp takes. Almost like LoL in that aspect T_T

oh I think I theres misunderstanding then

is there clicking to target like in other MMOs then where you just let the character you're playing to its job? No

you have to use the mouse as a cross-hair to hit your target. Its "live" gameplay. No longer letting the programming determine whether or not you hit the target.
