First Drawing of my OC Wildcard

I made this quick drawing(45min) so I finally have a picture of my OC

About his personality:

Well, he's 20, quite tall, light and fit(a body shape quite like Braeburn) and a pegasus. He is usually very kind and nice, but also a bit teenagerish,playful and immature. He is a bit shy when it comes to relationships and girls and often tries to hide this with witty(but also often out of place) quotes. He likes music(mostly punk/rock), sports and also reading when he is in the mood. He looks a bit introvert for ponies who doesn't know him, but is outgoing and talkative with his friends. He is also quite laid back and a bit lazy when it comes to studying.

My critique:

• The head is way too narrow. He looks like a chille pepper, or a wolf.
• His mane looks like grass is growing on his head at the top, but looks better at the end.
• His tail also looks good.
• His hooves aren't round enough, and his back leg has too sharp of an intake moving to his flank.
• His cutie mark isn't visible, due to the oddly drawn wings. It looks like there is a cloud at the base of them.

I would say a nice try for a beginner! Keep practicing my friend!

My critique:

I've made the head a bit more narrow on purpose, since I am more of a slim person myself(I would not look like Big MacIntosh or a royal guard if I were a pony^^) and wanted my pony to look a bit more unique. I agree with you that it's a few mm to long tough.

And for the wings I didn't went into much detail on the picture, but I used Soarin's to get an idea and they also have this "cloudy" base.

-_- Well Oc's are not supposed to be yourself as a pony..Oc's are Original Characters not pony's based on how you look. Other than that its a pretty good drawing.By the way his eyes looks cracked...

_{- Dont' do it on lined paper. It's possible to get really good at drawing on lined paper, and then forever after suck on anything else.}

_{- Make it bigger. That way you can identify problems and mistake easier.}

- Your lines are kind of sloppy. Be crisp, clear, and precise.

- Work on your forms and proportions. Don't be afraid to use a reference if you need one!

Keep working and you will improve in no time.

I don't get it. Wildcard is not the pony in your avatar?

 

I first planned to make him look like in my avatar, but in my mind he always looked a bit like this. Just the lack of options in the creator forced me to make my avatar that way(for example, there were no nice spiked back hair, no different body shapes, etc.)

Aweome job on the drawing! It looks great overall but someI notticed were that

- The back legs are too sharp.

- The chest looks more rectangular, try to make it more rounded and less flat

- The ears like more elf-like, they should be abit more wider.

Giving critique towards OCs is difficult, so if I gave a critical opinion on something that was purposely supposed to be drawn as it was , I'll apologize now. C;

why don't you like him? when you were talking about a creator, you were refering to the pony creator or a person?

another thing, I saw another user with the same avatar you own. It was the same OC, with the scarf and everything, with the difference that his mane and tail has 2 shades of gray, and the scarf is black and green

I like it because it's 3D and all, but there are only a few mane and tailstyles, only one body shape, so when it will be more known/used amongs Bronies there will be many ponies very similar to my OC :<

And when I made my profile Wildcard I had a similar hairstyle. But now I have short(er) hair since a few month and I wanted my ponysona to look a bit more like me. To be honest I never start another OC because there is always room to improve on my actual one :S

This pony creator is much better than the popular one, but it's sooooo limited, I guess the person who did it it's just starting with it, and it's not 3D it's flash animation

One advice, try to trace ponies images until you get used to the shapes, their snouts, their hooves, the manes and the form of their bodies. Do a million of sketches and draw Wildcard again, believe me, these ponies are a challenge at first, but aren't that hard to draw.
