Rainbow Dash DEMO

I finally got my MIDI keyboard working again! Yay!!!

 

This is by far the most difficult thing I have done so far, but Rainbow Dash deserves the best, so i'm reaaaalllly trying here. This is only a demo. I still have to finish the composition, and it needs a lot of EQing. Oh....and VOCALS. I'm finally doing a vocal track I have a basic idea for lyrics, but they still need to be written.

 

So let me know what you think of what I have so far. Should I continue with it, or did I fail horribly?

 

Oh, and I just picked a random picture for the cover image since it's only a demo. I don't own the artwork. If you happen to be the artist, please don't kill me

It looks pretty promising so far, I think you should continue and see how the final product turns out. It feels full of freedom and I like the rhythm ^^ Look forward to how it turns out in full, and what kind of vocals will match up to it. Good luck~

Really, really beautiful track. Can't wait to hear this with vocals. Got some questions, though:

 

1: In which ways was this track difficult to make ? General composition-wise, or EQing-wise ? Or something completely else (hope you don't mind me asking )

1. It was difficult in both composition and EQing actually I haven't been making music for very long, so i'm not used to working with so many different instruments at the same time. And for the EQing, i'm not very experienced with that either

 

2. Yep I will release the vocal free version very soon. I just hope it doesn't sound too repetitive without vocals...

Though, I don't think you should worry about it sounding too repetitive. So far it sounds good. :3

This feels better if used for a video game, it sounds like it belongs in something like that. As for the actual song itself though, it doesn't feel like something I'd associate with Rainbow Dash; if anything that felt more like a Fluttershy song to me. I always felt Rainbow Dash was better in a sort of hyper type of song, a song that can insinuate her speed, or a lyrical expression to Rainbow Dash as a whole.

I understand how you'd say fast paced, but I can't see Rainbow Dash as much else either, other than loyal to others but that's exceedingly difficult to portray. You could also do something that feels bigger than life, that is a very good portrayal of her since she has a tendency of making herself the center of attention. Maybe something along the lines of what Aaron Musslewhite did for his Overdrive song (god what a freaking awesome song!)

Eh, i'm quite happy with the pacing of this song currently. In the future I might make a more upbeat, "bigger than life" Rainbow Dash song, but for what I have planned for lyrics, this song needs to be mellow. I appreciate the feedback though

You have an excellent sense of melodic balance and a very cool, very chill atmosphere! Personally I think you could ease up on your bass and snare drums a couple dB, but I think that's just where our tastes might differ.

 

I can't wait to hear what this could sound like with a vocal track! And I especially can't wait to hear when this has been properly mixed and mastered!

Thank you! I enjoy melodic music, so I try to use melodies as much as possible

 

I actually thought the same thing about lowering the bass, but it just didn't sound right without it for some reason.

 

I have only been making music for about 5 months, so I'm not very experienced with mixing or mastering. It won't sound perfect, but i'm going to try my best.
