Ponified Abraham Lincoln (A Nation Divided)

So I felt inspired to make Honest Abe a pony, though this may look nothing like the man. I always thought he would have a very dark brown color to his hair so that explains that. When I took this on, I didn't think of how tricky the beard might have been and how strange it would be to see an Equine with facial hair, but overall, I'm pleased with it and had fun doing it. I know there are a couple things like the cutie mark is a little too far forward, the sun's outline on the left and right sides is MUCH too thick, and there may be other things.

Now, since Lincoln was in a position of power, I seriously mulled the thought of making him an alicorn...but scrapped the idea. I couldn't imagine Lincoln being anything but an Earth Pony for a couple of reasons:

1. Earth Ponies can't fly or use magic, meaning they must find honest solutions to their tasks and problems, and Abraham Lincoln was, and still is, revered for his honesty.

2. (You'll forgive the pun) Abraham Lincoln was a down to Earth man. He set realistic goals for the country and he went through with what he planned to do. The slaves were set free, the Confederacy was defeated, etc. You know the story.

[EDIT: Finally, the cutie mark is a ball and chain, but the chain is broken to represent freedom and liberty for all and the end of slavery.]

Anyway, this is my tribute to who I believe was our greatest and most influential president along with one of the best men God has ever graced this planet with. Under his rule, more blood was shed than in any American war, but if not for men like Lincoln, there would be no fifty United States today.

A Nation Divided

Five years have aged me like fifty.

I rise in the morning in pain.

This “Civil” War needs to end swiftly.

And must never happen again.

How can we call ourselves brothers

With knives to each other’s throats?

Mangled men go back to their mothers

Whilst men on the other side gloat.

My country! America is dying!

Soldiers march through the red flood!

Her women and children are crying!

Her sons have spilled their own blood!

What matters if you’re white or you’re black?

Why must you refuse to see?

Our fathers envisioned this pact

That all men are created free!

How can we say we are united

When we look at each other with hate?

I see a nation divided,

Which believes its division is fate!

My life is nearing its end.

I look west, o setting sun!

My country, alone, she must mend

The damage that we all have done.

This “Civil” War is so far from o’er.

This old pony knows every clue

That the blood will flow all the more

Staining our Red, White, and Blue.

Five years have aged me like fifty

The sun has set on my life.

My country must heal herself quickly

Or endure many decades of strife.

Let us never forget who we are

Or the oppression from whence we all came.

Hail ye, The Old Stripes and Stars!

Know now that we’re all the same!

Black and white are only mere colors!

Ponies! Unite and stand firm!

Let’s tolerate and love all each other!

Lest we fall and watch our flag burn.

Haha! Awesome. The drawing is really nice. And I don't think making him an alicorn would have beeen a good idea. You know, the hat wouldn't fit because of the horn. Speaking of the hat, it is a little bit too small.

Yeah, I thought that too, but once I had the finished product, I had just that lol I don't have a pencil sharpener and all my colored pencils are starting to dull out. Not to mention, I just didn't feel like doing it a second time if I was overall pleased with what I had the first time :3
