movies/tv The Human Centipede is really not what it was cracked up to be

It was an interesting concept indeed and they made some pretty heavy implications but in the end it wasn't all that bad. I don't understand how this could make anyone's stomach turn unless they had a weak stomach.

I'd probably give it a 6/10 because it had decent setup but in the end things just didn't go as well as they should have. Once again: I thought it was a really interesting concept in theory but they didn't pull it off very well.

Ugh all the kids at school think there hard core because they watched it and vomited 600 times, they treat it as if it is the best horror movie ever... I never would have expected it to be good anyway... Did you expect it to be good?

Well the way people explained it to me it was the next Silence of the Lambs. I haven't seen SotL but this certainly wasn't all that scary. I had more trouble with Rose Red at 14 years old.

Wait, human centipede was supposed to be a horror? I thought it was a comedy...

Jk jk

But honestly, I laughed through most of that movie. Acting was... well, it didn't even deserve to be called acting. Because of this, the parts that were probably supposed to be horrifying were darkly humorous instead.

And other parts were just stupid. I mean, a Japanese news reporter in Germany that only speaks Japanese? Seriously? They didn't even subtitle what he was saying. I do speak a little Japanese, though, and was able to get the general idea of what he was saying, usually.

I suppose the girl in the middle was kinda hot, but the fact that she was sewn to 2 other people kinda detracted from that.

I swear the people who do reviews for horror movies must be 3 year olds who hide from monsters in their closets.

I have NEVER seen a movie that actually scares me! Perhaps a jump scare that lasts mere seconds like at the end of a prank YouTube video. Nothing that actually makes me feel fear for any real amount of time.

The only thing sorta like a movie that got close was Amnesia the Dark Descent, but that's mostly because video games are more immersive than a movie.

I liked how the film wasn't completely dull like the vast majority of modern horror films, but that doesn't warrant it a positive reaction either. Other than something that I bet exclusively exists in my perspective, the film thrived on goofy Dr. Heiter moments and nothing else.

Wasn't scary at all,

and I've seen both the first one and it's sequel (which is basically begging for an outrageous reaction)

Things I liked:

-that they kept the nudity to a minimum

-that the japenese guy spoke japanese and the german doctor's english was existent but limited, just how it is irl.

-the original idea

-cliffhanger ending

Things I didn't like:

-the acting (altho I found the doctor's acting to be quite amusing)

-the drawn-out scenes

-how I wanted the protagonists to die (forest scene : jenny! jenny! jenny! *whine*, repeat 10 more times)

-the believability (or the lack thereof)

*The movie was not scary or vomit inducing, it wasn't even all that suspenseful, it's more just of an interesting concept . I think people like to over exaggerate and make big deals out of things for attention

**Watch the sequel

It was subtitled on the DVD I got. Where did you see it?

Is it sad that throughout the movie I was hoping for more shots of the boobs rather than hoping things got dangerous? lol

I saw at my friends house, and I think he pirated it, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, like I said, the boobs didn't do as much for me since the person they were on was attached to other people. Kinda kills the mood.

And I was not aware there was a sequel. I might watch it now. I want to, but I no longer have the computer access I used to, and it's not like I can just get the dvd and watch it in the living room.

Its not as much the movie as it is the concept that freaks mw out. When I watched it tho, there was certain environmental issues making it harder to not get sick :P

not to mention it was actually a terribly bad movie. imo that is.

I haven't watched the entire thing yet but it looks like on of those movies that will just make your stomach twist during the gore scenes but other than that it's not good for anything.

I never watched it, but not because I was horrified or anything. I thought the concept was pretty stupid. What was the point of doing this? I would have eagerly watched if he put together something using all the arms legs and torsos, but only one head at the top. That would have been pretty cool! Oh, the one and only movie to ever scare me was the original "Hellraiser". That sacred the mess out of me! I saw it when I was 10, I think, and it actually gave me nightmares. Thanks Clive Barker!

It doesn't really have any gore scenes, now that I think of it, not real one. There is one where there's a ton of blood, but it looks really fake (I'm talking like, Monty python blood) and I was laughing too hard because of what was going on in the scene to pay much attention to the blood anyway :/

Ah yes, the surgery scene. The tooth removal was kinda gross, but that's just cuz I have sensitive teeth and can't imagine what it'd be like to have my teeth ripped out like that.

Also, the thing movie/show that's come closest to scaring me is actually the YouTube series, Marblehornets. It's got some creepy shit in it.

Oh well I was referring more to the sequel, there definitely is some stomach twisting gore in that one x)

Ah. I've not seen the sequel, and I don't even know if I'm going to watch it. Not because I think I'll get grossed out or scared or disturbed, but because the first was barely worth watching, and I doubt the sequel is any better. Probably not worth the time it would take to either download or find a hard copy :/

It's not worth buying. It's one of those movies that you are just gonna end up fast forwarding most of it to get to mediocre gore scenes.
