Our town used to be called Lickskillet, and we tore down two indian mounds last year. We have a population of 21,221. Not really too much, other than ~4000 person growth.

I live in Gulfport, MS. A place only known for it's seafood, casinos, and what little music came from here. We're also known for Hurricane Katrina! The worst hurricane to hit the US in modern history.

 

The closest major city is New Orleans, LA. That sprawling place has a rich history and culture, but since the hurricane, it hasn't fully recovered and likely never will. It has the highest murder/manslaughter rate per 100,000 people for 2010, even though it only has a population of approx. 350,000. It's not that city itself is bad, but it's been handed some tough challenges by nature and politicians. It's still a very strong city, though! Very few southern cities share the glory, history, and culture of New Orleans. A real gem of a city.

I live in Oakland, Florida but there is nothing there and the closest Big City is Orlando 20 minutes away with a population of 243,000 people and it gets over 50 million tourists each year and we beat NYC to 50 million tourists

The Closest,Well known City I live near is Charlotte, NC. It's about 45 minutes away from me.

It's the 17th largest City in the US.

We are the second largest Banking city(Behind NYC).

We were named after the wife of King George the III.

My city is known for its mental hospital that served a rather big part in the "darker" history of how mental patients were treated back then... okay, just so I mention something nice about it to, it is also fairly known for its Nature Reserve which is really nice taking walks in and such.

I live near St.Louis, Missouri, it's a 30 minute drive there, it hosted the Olympics and the World's fair in 1904, it has the world's tallest monument (gateway arch, 630 ft. tall, 630 ft. wide), the world's second tallest fountain (630 ft. tall), and it has a nice collection of ghettos and gangs.

Closest city is Hartford, Connecticut about half-an-hour away. It's known as the Insurance Capital of the World because so many insurance companies are located here. Mark Twain lived in the city and most of his famous novels (including Huck Finn, Tom Sawyer, and Connecticut Yankee) were written there. We also boast the oldest art museum in the US, the Wadsworth Atheneum. The oldest continuously publishing newspaper in the US, the Hartford Courant, has been printing newspapers since 1764.

I live in Naperville Illinois, which is 30 miles away from Chicago

 

Facts:

In 2006, Naperville ranked 2nd of 100 best places to live according to Money Magazine

Naperville was the first place to make a 9/11 memorial, which is located on the riverwalk

RIBFEST!!

The Naperville Public Library is ranked one of the best libraries in the US for 9 years in a row

We're well known for our school districts and home to 8 colleges and universities

Population of 141,853

Philadelphia is about a thirty minute drive from where I live. It's loaded with historic sites related to the founding of the United States. Even though you're not supposed to, I ducked under the ropes and touched the Liberty bell. A park ranger scolded me!

The last time I went to Gulfport was when I was like 8. And the only place I went when I was there was a casino, where my dad had a gig with his band
