My sister and I went to Target today and gave our first impressions of some of the My Little Pony merchandise. There were no plushies, so we grabbed hold of the toys Target had lying around. What we found wasn't pretty...

Hey, they have to cater to some of the kiddies out there, who, y'know, we're the primary target audience before certain 25-year-old men blew through the bar doors?

Maybe they don't want to run other the plushie makers out of business or maybe they are targeting little girls who really don't care if they look 100% show accurate.

Still pretty bad. Of course, the merchandise IS selling. And for the record I am 19. But are bronies actually buying this junk?

I think you're too picky about certain things, the hair mainly. It's packed, off course the mane will look straight. Also, they're brushable, it's almost impossible to make it show accurate with that. I do agree with you on many levels though.

(Sorry, wasn't referring to your age lol)

Um...well, the dedicated ones are, for sure, regardless if they're reminiscent of G3.5 *shudder*.

I have a theory that they really don't care if the dolls look like the ponies from the show or not.

Hasbro, you disapoint me so much...

You know what you can do?

1. Take out the doll's hair.

2. Make your own hair for the doll.

3. Stitch it on.

4. ???

5. Profit.

it was funny watching you two be butthurt about the toys. But I must point out one thing. The white Wonderbolt with yellow hair isn't supposed to be Spitfire. She's an actual pony from the show. Just an unnamed Wonderbolt.

Hilarious that the "unnamed wonderbolt" is included in the merchandising and not the most popular wonderbolt in the series (you know, the one that has voice acting).

I have no clue about that one. Toy companies can be weird, but I guess Hasbro takes the cake, eh? Take a look at their Transformers toys.

Hahahaha! You are so right! Hasbro is just raking in the big bucks! They can produce a good series, but when it comes to merchandising Hasbro is like a Chinese knock-off.

Oh give it a rest about Hasbro making "Chinese knock-off" toys, they're just toys, that's what they're in this business to do.

BTW, how can you say it's junk when you're among the people who watch this show? You don't have to buy the toys or other pony merchandises. There are dedicated fans who love the show so much, they chose to buy their merchandise. Who wouldn't want a huggable Fluttershy plushy when every time you hug her, the plushy goes "Squee!?"

If there were to be such merchandise distributed by Hasbro, I'd be completely satisfied. But there are not any.

It's like you had me in mind when you said that. I lol'd.

But yes, the youngin's that these are intended for aren't going to be show nerds like us, who demand show-accurate things. As long as there's a purple unicorn with X number of stars and at least one pink stripe in her mane, that'll do for a five year old.

That's why the so called "brony pack" sold so damn fast.

This is one of the reasons I have no phisical evidence of being a brony (aka outside my computer and sketch book). The lack of good merchandice that I actully want.

Those don't seem up to Hasbro's typical standards ._. I'd only buy them if I was a super hardcore fan. Since I'm not, I'd pass on buying those. lol.

The only thing I never understood is why the applejack toys never had her hat. What's up with that?

They would have to make special moulds for it and those cost extra money.

They are all about producing cheap toys for a high sell price, I honestly don't think they care.

I think it's less that they don't care and more that they've never had to care.

Remember that people asking for show-accurate representations of animated equines is a new thing that they totally weren't set up for. Not to mention how much early planning goes into mass producing toys. Such things have to pass panels and production managers and marketing execs etc, etc. Changes can take years.

Yeah, you may be right. I just hope they will pony up(no pun intended) and give her a hat in the future.
