I believe they get more recognition because we have so bloody damn many of them in the RP. WE NEED MORE OTHER SPECIES GUYS

 

The thing is, people only pay attention to her when she explodes. And it's just negative attention, so I wasn't too keen on that, honestly. Even Serah, who has a... rather uncooperative personality, is receiving more positive attention than her. That's where I felt I failed. I'd like to show her good side. But because I'm naturally self-depreciating, I tend to show a character who is based on myself in a negative light because I'm rather bad at seeing my good traits.

 

Anyway, a quick short post for me. Really short. The walls did not fall this time. @_@ Without Skyman, not much to say. Have to wait for him to post until tommorow. I posted 'cause impatience and also, I'd like to address him in a separate post.

I guess some of the recognitions of pegasai in the whole RP is that of Starry flying and subsequently crashing (So far, she crashed two times as of this post) also Kloop's struggles.

 

Kloop? What is this... Kloop? Is that a hybrid between Klopp and Zoop or something xD Nah, I'm just messing with ya, Naru... But still, ya had me chuckling there xP

I believe it's the fact that people like to SEE the aspect of power. Forget having it in general. Earth, Pegasi, and Unicorns have magic in some way, shape or form. Unicorns are the most easiest to observe this. Pegasi have the "magic" of being able to stay afloat on top of clouds and I believe some magic is put into the flight aspect.

 

Now the problem I think most people have with earth ponies is that people view them as the "humans" of Equestria, whereas the unicorns and pegasi are more like the powerhouses/super heroes. This is where I interject. Earth Ponies have the "magic" ability to grow food, crops, etc. It has been mentioned in the show (Hearth's Warming Eve), but most don't notice this. If Earth Ponies were scarce and/or non existant, you can forget about Pegasi and Unicorns surviving. Other than that, Earth Ponies are very strong and very quick. Applejack is a prime example. Not only does she buck apples everyday, but she ran pretty far and pretty quick in the race against RD (although they ended up last because of their quarrels).

 

The personal reason why I like choosing Earth Ponies is because of the struggle I have to go through. If I made it more easier on myself to use magic for X reason or flight to make the trip easier, then I feel like there's no worth in it. Sure those are gifts given to their respective races, but Earth Ponies have that vibe that they can take on whatever is thrown at them regardless of what the challenge is. With Brave, in the previous Shifted RP, I gave him restrictions. Limits that he could not pass because it was a part of his character or he hadn't grown enough to pass this limit. It was with this that it made it fun to role play as Brave. Trying to get through the challenges Arylett had set forth in this RP as well as the challenges that were self-imposed by Brave himself. I'll admit that I kinda made some events for Brave a bit ridiculous, but I hope to revise those mistake and create challenges.

 

In any case, Earth Ponies have the struggle to get through life with those other "gifts", but it doesn't mean that they are weaker. Earth Ponies just have to be more adaptable. They have to be quick on their hooves. They have to be able to take a hit and deal it back ten-fold. They are pretty dang amazing if I do say so myself.

The reason I went with a unicorn is because I always liked and envied magic, especially when I was younger when I was reading though all the Harry Potter books. I know it's cliché but I always wanted to preform magic myself so I couldn't pass the opportunity up when creating an OC.

I figured that playing a pegasus in the RP would be easier than with a unicorn, I guess that's why I decided to use Starry Sky instead of my old unicorn character Arty. (Used in the first Shifted, but was found to be unsuitable, therefore, I got ejected from it.)

 

And plus, I thought that she'd be the most suitable character out of all my OCs for this story.

I wish I could take the merry time to be more active and read through the roleplay, but with many characters and some activity creating entire slews of text to read every day, I am finding it difficult to catch up with so many exams to study for in real life.

 

I would recommend that if interaction is needed for my character for now (up until Monday evening my time). someone else (preferably Scootacool) can god mode my character a little just to drag her along to where the important stuff is going on. There's just so many pages of text to catch up on (actual pages) and I have to decide where I want to spend my time specifically, I would catch up if someone made like an Audio book version for me to listen to while I try to catch some sleep, bat that's just silly.

 

This isn;t me pulling out, I just can't take the time to do this now, my replies take too much time as is to make, and I haven't even gotten to the point where I know what is going on to reply properly.

There is that, but... let me direct you to the character stats:

• 15 Players Total.
• 7/15 Females (46%)
• 8/15 Males (53%)
• 7/15 Unicorns (46%)
• 4/15 Pegasi (26%)
• 3/15 Earth Ponies (20%)

As you can see, there at almost 50% unicorns. Understandably, because there's so many, this means they're more likely to get attention. If the species were balanced a little more, I believe the unicorns wouldn't be as much attention whores. But I can see what you're saying, and I agree with it, really. I only chose a unicorn for my character because she has very specific abilities and it suited her personality. I wasn't in it for the power.

I can see it happening, Arylett. Three groups instead of 2 and honestly, that might not be a bad thing. This way, the groups would be even now. Team Silver, Team Serah, and Team Artsy!

I don't think mentions work if you edit it into your post after having posted it though, that's just what my logic tells me. I can't say for sure though as I haven't tried it. Few times I've forgot to mention in RP I had to make another post and type a bunch of stuff just to pass the character limit, have it attached to my last post and then edit all the unrelated text out. Also, If you quote someone's post and they have mentions in it the said users will get another notification which is annoying but there's always tradeoffs.

Also, it seems I missed the discussion on why each character is their particular species. But before I answer that, some background knowledge is needed. You'd better sit down for this. Ready?

 

Serah is not based on me.

 

 

In other words, her being a unicorn has nothing to do with what I would like to be/expect to be if I were a pony.

 

I know I've gone over this at least once before, but it might bear repeating. Serah was originally one of two characters I created for a sci-fi fantasy book series I planned to write. At first, the book was just going to be a Sonic the Hedgehog fanfiction, but I realized I could do a lot more if I turned it into a completely original work, and created my own characters.

 

I spent some time fleshing out the protagonists and some of the world details, but the project was just too big to involve myself in considering the constraints of college. So I just left the character bios sitting in a word doc for a long time, until I found a use for Serah again in one of the RPs on this forum.

 

The idea for Serah was always that she would have fire based abilities, a concept brought over from when it was still a Sonic fanfiction and her role was played by Blaze the Cat. So a unicorn really is the only thing she could be in an RP, without sacrificing a large part of her character.

 

Besides Blaze, Dinobot from Beast Wars was another big inspiration for her character, as well as Samus Aran before she became over sexualized.
