Mountain Dew Voting Edit - They've Been Hacked.

lol I see 4chan is up to their old tricks again. ahhhhh I remember those days. hours upon hours of absolute mindless social stupidity mixed with misguided genius. gotta give them credit for managing to get "hitler did nothing wrong" to #1. But in the end The Brony Republic will win.

Yeah, I can see /b/ being responsible for that one. It's just gonna be deleted soon anyways, or at least pushed back very far in the list. I can assume people are also spamming many names, Applejack included so I can see Applejack being placed in at least the top 50 no matter what tomorrow.

4chan and 99% of hackers are stupid jerks in my opinion. Same goes for Anonymous. Really hope they will get owned sooner or later

Can't wait to see an AJ Mntdew though :)

We were at 17 when it got hacked and I think crashed for the most part. They will probably take the contest down now on claims it was hacked. Stupid 4chan.

As for mixing Dew and other alcoholic beverages, there aren't many that work well together.

Code Red is a fantastic chaser for shots of Wild Turkey.

I also don't think Dew would name a drink Applejack, the same way McDonalds didn't name one of their chicken sandwiches Scootaloo in a similar contest.

You do all know that applejack is the name of an alcoholic beverage that dates back centuries before cartoons and TV were invented, right? Hasbro can not prevent people from using it as a beverage name. Mountain Dew was also originally a nickname for Moonshine, Illegally produced corn whiskey. Edited by cuteycindyhoney

It might be my internet connection out here, but it looks like the DubTheDew site has been wiped. Big surprise.

It's mostly because the contest was hacked by the stupid people at /b/. I checked the Facebook account and THAT was also wiped away. Weird.

I know that it is something very simple to freak out over but the idea behind it is still very clear. When men watch the world burn they see themselves as people who are challenging the world to a laugh off. He who laughs last laughs best and in this case the men watching a company struggle and begin to hate the internet are laughing. This isn't over and the Mountain Dew company is now more likely to lean more towards supporting internet censorship. In the end when the people involved with these actions gets all of our rights stripped away by the actions of a few the mountain dew company will be laughing last.

That's why I had stopped, for the most part, trying to talk to people and be a part of the group's over at 4chan. I was in there back in 06' so I guess you could say I'm a pretty old fag from there. I'd frequent it from time to time through the years and people from there where not at the level of stupidity everyone at the site is right now. I was there the night actually witnessing this thinking to myself "Well, fuck. There goes another company that will slip over to the SOPA party, trying to pass any bill to better censor the internet."

I don't blame the site in a whole to the idiotic stuff happening, but you have to admit a great majority of the blame is easily pushed towards the users from that site. I'm mostly just upset this contest was taken down for a few chuckles for the site to have.

One of the biggest arguments that supports internet censorship is the fact that people who run sites such as 4chan do a poor job of trying to take care of things that should have been taken care of. I do blame 4chan for not stepping in when they should have and deleted that whole thread that planned the attack on the Mountain Dew site. Further more they need to do this to any future posts that threaten to attack other sites. If site moderators did this more often then we wouldn't have to worry about the government stepping in when they know we can take care of ourselves.

Of course Moot's never on there all the time and his Mods and Janitors rarely take down things that are even somewhat amusing, this attack being one of such a thing. Silly things like grouped attacks of bombarding sites with gore and porn, hacks and hate spread messages on Facebook are many of the things they have done in the past. I feel like there is ultimately no solution to this that wont turn around to bite someone in the ass.

If this is the case than 4chan faces inevitable annihilation. They better think of something to do and fast because the users on their site are only allowing the idea of internet censorship to sound better and better by the day.

Well it's not only them that are the cause of it, but they are the ones that are being publicly acknowledged for such things. You can't just take down a website this big either without consequence, they have around almost 70 million viewers per year. So yeah, that's a lot.

And on the seventh day, there was butthurt. And this too shall pass.

Anyways, if they broke any laws, then they might find themselves facing charges. If not, then they simply confirmed what the entire world already knows: they're fucktards. It's lame that /b/ apparently trashed an otherwise fun thing, but giving random internet people the mic on your public website shows a stunning level of naivete on the part of Mountain Dew.

I'm not defending the people who organized the Hitler Did Nothing Wrong thing...just saying that every self-respecting marketing department should be aware that there are people like that out there, and they will do stupid shit if you give them the stage.

Agreed. What they SHOULD have done was force voters to like them on Facebook then be granted voting privileges there, that way they could monitor it better and kick idiot names like Hitler Did Nothing Wrong out of it.

I don't even like Mountain Dew. It has nothing but artificial color, high fructose corn syrup and caffiene.

Yet I'm voting Applejack all the way, baby!
