I would definitely want it. The world and story of the comics is soooo much better than the games. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a massive Sonic fanboy and love all aspects of the fandom, but aside from the fact that I'm a gamer and must, by default, go with the games, I really think the comics are infinitely better in story (disregarding the fact that they tie up loose ends in super specials or miniseries' a lot)

I would love a game based on the comics, possibly with a bunch of playable characters from the Freedom Fighters. I think it would be awesome.

What say you?

Oh my fuck, yes.

That was the only comic I begged my mom to bring me to the store for when I was little.

Seriously, the Endgame saga? That would be the best ending to any Sonic game so far!

Remind me what happened in the Endgame saga. I read it a year or so ago but I don't remember everything. I remember loving it, of course. Was that the Ultimate Annihilator part?

Oh, lord, I last read it when I was 12, man.

Basics? Sonic framed for Sally's murder. Hunted by most of the Freedom Fighters, Rabbot aside. Robotnic had kidnapped her, Ultimate Annihilator, epic fight, textbook Sleeping Beauty/Snow White ending.

Wouldn't that be a bit dark?

I mean, I remember some of the Archie Comics being really dark...Or weird....

But yeah, I'd love to see a Sonic game, with some guts for once!

He's died out due to crappidity of late, He needs to get going again.

Ah yes, I remember now. I read a lot of the comics all at the same time so some of it meshes together. I need to get the Sonic Archives comics which they are up to volume 18 now (which is up to issues 67-70) so I can have them for real instead of having to use less-than-legal ways of obtaining them.

That didn't stop Sonic Adventure 2 or Shadow the Hedgehog though, did it? :P

Still, the series could stand to use a bit of a darker story. It'll likely help in the story-telling department if nothing else. Things like Sonic used to being the leader but when King Acorn returns he has to suddenly listen to him because he's the king and struggling with the change from a world where a hero is needed to one where normal society takes place and his adventures aren't needed anymore...there's a lot the comic stories could add to the games as far as story goes. The games tend to focus on Saturday Morning Cartoon-ish stories of late and though I don't mind them I would prefer them to get a little more complex now and then.

Leave SatAM alone!

Uh...Yeah....

Hmm, I didn't really think Shadow was that dark really...Jus' me I suppose..

The games' story Dept. could really do with a wake-up call though, I bet half of Them haven't even looked at AC before.

Reminds me, I'm gonna go read some now, Thanks for the reminder.

Ah, you misunderstand. I was talking about the bad kind of Saturday Morning Cartoons, not the awesome ones like SatAM.

The ones that have super trivial reasons for doing something and usually tone down violence of any sort to the point it's like "A cork gun, really?"

Shadow was meant to be dark, at any rate, even if it didn't totally succeed. lol

YES! It's about time they get Sally Acorn involved! Especially now that she's been roboticized..... :(

Yeah, I heard about that. I haven't gotten an issue since like 180 or something so I'm way behind. Lack of a job didn't help. :(

I recently got the Super Special volume 4 (the one with Mobius 25 Years Later stuff in it) which said Sally was roboticized! I was shocked. Now I really need to get a subscription and stay in the loop. xD

Did you know that Amy was originally supposed to be Sally in Sonic CD? And that the Freedom Fighters made appearances in Sonic Spinball?

I voted to keep the cartoons out of the games. The video game series and cartoon series are two separate canons, and they each are very different, from the setting to the art styles. Unless you do something drastic to the Archie/SatAM characters' personalities, designs, and story backgrounds, then they're going to clash badly. Keep the comics in the comics, and keep the video game series in the video games.

Having lighthearted stories doesn't mean it's shallow, and having darker stories doesn't mean it's deep. Unleashed, for one, was lighthearted and very deep; and Eggman's PA announcements in Colors Wii are rich in characterization.

Well I didn't mean mixing the game canon and comic canon. I meant making a game purely based on and within the Archie canon.

Also, I wasn't trying to imply that the story was deeper just because it's darker, I'm just saying that lately the games haven't been as deep as they could have been. They do their job but they could also do a bit more, flesh out the story a little.

Well...I don't know I've never read the comics and never plan to. I mean maybe if it wasn't canon or if it was apart of the comic's continuity rather than the games' because it would get confusing otherwise. But overall I could care less. I just want more of the games to be fun, lord know we don't need another Sonic 06.

Why not? The Archie Sonic comic series were probably the most remarkable thing from the franchise. It had better plots, characters and villains. It also extended the Sonic mythos a lot.

My only complain is that the characters felt too overpowered sometimes. Enerjak is WAY too overpowered.

I agree that a game based on Archie would be interesting.  The only issue that I ever had with the comics is that they really jumped the shark later on.
