Phoenix237 353 January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 (edited) What I really have a problem with (and this is what I have consistently pointed out) is the assumption that Equestria physics is equivalent to real life physics. Given that assumption, your argument is very logical and convincing. Kudos to you for noticing Twilight being pushed down into the ground when using her magic to lift the water tower. As for the assumption itself, unfortunately, it's very very often contradicted by what happens in the show, which if anything runs on cartoon physics (Fluttershy flattening herself against her door, Winona becoming a pan-dog, half of what Pinkie does ever) Not to mention the Sonic Rainboom is heard before it is seen, impossible with real world physics. (But what if the Sonic Rainboom is magic? See below) Pegasus ponies themselves are an affront to all real world principles of aviation, aerodynamics and physics. You simply can't slap (relatively small) wings on a horse and have it fly and hover, particularly not with the slow beating of wings that pegasus ponies show. Personally, I consider their flight (and other abilities) to be magical rather than physical in nature, which then breaks the connection between physics and magic in any case. Another point to consider. If the sun of Equestria is assumed to be equivalent to our sun, then it surely has to rise the same way i.e. it doesn't. If you're making that assumption, then you have to assume that Celestia is rotating the planet rather than moving the sun, so that would be the known limit of her magical strength. Superman has pulled Earth out of it's orbit before (I think it was even Post-Crisis, but I will admit that I don't have all the details) which would seem to me to require greater strength than turning it. And he definitely can destroy a planet like Earth if he wanted to, so he could destroy Celestia's body too. Yes well this is a problem that I have found when factoring things in my previous analysis. I thank you for also noticing that. Superman's Abilites are measurable. We have reasons as to why he can do certain things, how he can do it, and what his average rate is in terms of strength and Abilites. The problem with princess Celestia is that she is in a univers that, as you are aware of, has residents that defiy the laws of physics. Cartoon physics is a strange thing that messes up analysis like this. We cannot determin exacltly how things work in their univers because of the way it works differently. When factoring abilities for characters in the mlp universe it is always a pain to try an use our world physics, when we have conflicting evidence. Most of the things I put for princess Celestia where all based on assumptions. The reason I chose to assume that Equestria physics worked the same is because A) this was the only way I could give princess Celestia possible feats, limits, and rates on her strengths. And B ) it would give her a fighting chance. First of off, if you didn't see my first analysis, you can find it somewhere in this discussion. There are more things I covered. I also have a reason why Superman would win. Anyway suppose I didn't use our form of physics. Based on what we have from the show it is impossible to determin what Princess Celestia is capable of. By adding our worlds physics, I was finally able to give an estimate on what Princess Celestia may be capable of. They are abiously assumptions, but none the less, it was the only way I could find a reason for Celesria to have a chance. Honestly if Celestia can't handle the pressure of the sun and make the sun move around effortlessly, then what chance does she have against superman. Superman is too fast and powerful and if he hits fast and hard, assuming celestia can't handle the force, she would certainly lose. By adding this said duarability and possible magic streangh, I was able to give Celestia a fighting chance against the man of steal I tried to be fair in my analysis and used real world physics to give Celestia a chance to win. The point is I tried to make it so that it seemed as though both combatants had a chance of wining. That's why I used real world physics. However I still found that the man of steal would win. Also to answer your question yes post-crisis superman can move the Earth. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Superman has pulled Earth out of it's orbit before (I think it was even Post-Crisis, but I will admit that I don't have all the details) which would seem to me to require greater strength than turning it. And he definitely can destroy a planet like Earth if he wanted to, so he could destroy Celestia's body too.Just wanted to give you details on this part.I wanted to be sure I was right and checked my notes to se of they were accurate befor I gave you this info. Note that this is just some trivia info I though I might share with you. Superman has moved the Earth before The force needed to move an object out of the suns gravity and orbit by 1% is about 1000 times less then the object. The Earth weighs about 6.6 sextillion tons, this means Superman is strong enough to move 6.6 quintillion tons. However since his solar power is infinante his max strength is probably higher Also superman has a move called the "infinante mass punch". What he does is that he vibrates the molecules in his fist to light speed and strikes with the the force of a supernova. Now a supernova has the impact of 10 octilluon megatons of force. This is Superman at one of his greatest. This force is more then enought o blow up a planet. The reason he doesn't use it a lot is because A) he holds back unless he sees that his ebonies are trying to kill, him or is a threat to the world And B ) this move requires a bit of a charge time and needs Superman flying at almost light speed. He can only fly at light speed of he is accelerating, but this takes time. Well that's about it Yes I know I over analize things in my spare times. So what. TheUltimateAvenger 16 February 1, 2013 Author Share February 1, 2013 I would say Superman would win, but it depends on "which" one of him you compare. Pre-crisis Superman is OP and no one should be able to defeat him, considering he had any powers the writers could come up with and had only one weakness, kryponite. With risistance to magic unlike future generations, Celestia wouldn't really have any advantage, and Superman with all his infinite powers can papowee her. Now if your talking of later, more reasonably Superman generations, Celestia would have way more of a chance of beating him, since he lacks risistance to magic. But Superman is so fast and has so many abilities n' stuff, it would we be quite a challenge. Yeah I removed OP the character... um PC Superman from the equation one I realized how OP he is. Post-Crisis is FAR more receptive to magic than PC Superman, though he has managed some great defensive feats against magic uses before. So it really matters which is better at attacking. And really, I doubt Celestia doesn't have some sort of spell to make her faster though. And if the Season Finale is anything to go by, "changing destinies is considered enough to become a princess"... Damn. Then again... this is the same guy who punched holes so hard into reality that he shattered the fabric of space and time (Post-Crisis) and reworked the time space continuum (Infinite Crisis Superman vs Golden Age Superman). So yeah.
Betez 1,734 February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 Hmm... I think in a battle of strength, Superman would win, but in a battle of just powers, Celestia would win. They can both obviously fly. I honestly think Celestia is a better ruler, but Superman is more heroic. Overall, I'd say Celestia. I don't know if that puts her 100% on the level of everything Superman has. Celestia can fly probably a lot faster than Rainbow Dash (Hyper Sonic), Supermans FTL (Faster than Light) Celestia beams can be seen up to a least City Level, Superman can make his Heat Vision PLANET LEVEL. Supermans Stronger and possibly Smarter. However....Superman has a LOOOOOT of Powers, Celestia has magic than can duplicate all this powers if she needs to (maybe not to the full extent but still) and more. Celestia has over 1000 years of experience, Superman has 20. Celestia could produce Kryptonite (if she even knew about it) and Red Sunlight (she is the master of the Sun) That and... Superman isn't entirely vulnerable to magic... not weak to it, but it can affect him. And Celestia is a master sorceress soooooooo. Yeah its hard to say. Personally I think Superman is a better leader and hero, he gets things done without being cryptic to her subjects and sitting on his ass all day, so yeah. Wait, you spent like 5 pages explaining that Celestia couldn't do anything to Superman, and then you tell everyone she has a chance? ... Or where you making fun of this argument? Listen, after that Death Battle with Superman and Goku (which I thought was fair despite the rabid DBZ fanboys) and ill admit, Superman is a lot stronger than I gave him credit for, and I don't know if Celestia could beat him. I mean, survived a SUPERNOVA... WTF?
TheMarkz0ne 962 April 28, 2013 Share April 28, 2013 They Are magical beings and superman's weakness is magic. But are the ponies even fast enough to beat supes. Guest April 28, 2013 Share April 28, 2013 The problem with topics like these is that It's been done already, and even that being said it's not something even worth talking about or speculating. They're fictional characters with their own universes, what does it matter who would win?
Umbral Noir 1,556 April 28, 2013 Share April 28, 2013 Ponies beat superman hands down. They're 20% cooler, they're awesome in general, and superman would immediately be sent TO THE MOON! Win for ponies, no question!

Scootalove 10,689 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 Well, Celestia has a lot of magic and power that could be very matched with Superman. Superman's weakness is obviously kryptonite, but if Celestia had a huge stash of kryptonite to defeat Superman then she could defeat him. But as for other alicorns/unicorns, maybe. flutterdashtejha27 0 September 3, 2014 Share September 3, 2014 Have you seen the royal wedding episode?? She took a couple hits and she got injured. I honestly think she is incapable of doing so. Zoraxe 546 September 4, 2014 Share September 4, 2014 I bet about 3 top level unicorns (or whatever the other pony races equivalents are) could take Celestia on. sweetolebob18 728 July 26, 2015 Share July 26, 2015 Superman is vulnerable to magic, but how much magic does Celestia have? The 5th dimensional guy Mxyl whatever can kick him round the block, no problem. But, Celestia isn't that powerful. + Would the Elements of Harmony even affect him? He isn't possessed or Chaotic, so would it even make him sneeze? Final answer: Discord could easily beat him, Celestia or Twilight maybe, an ordinary unicorn might give him a problem but not a serious one. sweetolebob18 728 July 27, 2015 Share July 27, 2015 Giving this some serious thought. If Celestia can use her connection to the sun to make the sun turn red (I remember a few villains trying it over the years), Kal El is in for a serious workout. Otherwise, it is doubtful he'd even work up a sweat. You want a serious fight? Celestia vs Dr Strange or Zatana.
