It looks like Tom Petty will represent me in a rematch against Sharp Staccato's nominated artist Beethoven later. Of course, whoever wins this round will represent Pain-Rikudo in a rematch against my nominated artist Chicago later. I kind of figured that Tom Petty would win that matchup; I wasn't sure about Chicago, but they proved to be more popular than I thought.

I've seen both Stevie Ray Vaughn and Joe Satriani on the Mainstream Rock charts before. They both had a string of small hits with a few bigger hits on the Mainstream Rock charts; neither had any significant success on the other singles charts. Both of the songs in this matchup were charting singles on Mainstream Rock, but not big hits.

I've never heard either one before. I really wasn't sure which song was better - I went with Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I'm actually going to wait until tomorrow to see if there are gonna be more votes. A large group of members voted while this was on hiatus, so I'm just going to test out this theory.RESULTS: Joe Satrini wins 5-4!Not a lot of comments or votes as I had hoped. D'oh! Well, might as well get on with the next battle, don't you say?

Chasing cars gets my vote, partly because Snow Patrol is one of the bands i put forward but mainly because while highway to hell is a great song, its a little too over-rated, Chasing Cars just beats it over all.

AC/DC gets my vote due to the vocals playing a major role. I also have seen to have missed one of my own match ups . The Snow Patrol song doesn't really work for me

Seems as though this thread has died, i guess that means snow patrol win by default then! :P

Guess it could use this bump, maybe Aegis will come back, else is anypony else up for running it?

I think part of the reason for the lack of interest is the sheer size of the bracket - 64 artists. I can't speak for anyone else, but I have never even heard of at least half of the artists, which serves to dampen interest. Also, because the bracket is so big, the contests would drag out over 2+ months, and maybe people don't have that kind of attention span and don't feel like waiting that long to see their favorite artists finally compete.

Maybe if this were attempted again with fewer and more well-known artists (like 16) it would work out better.

The reason why I stopped this was that A) There was a long-ass tie for like 6 days and I didn't even know that the tie broke until recently and B ) Waning disinterest. The last round if I recalled had like only 5 votes.

I will start this up again if more people are willing to vote.

I don't particularly care either way. If we choose to continue the tournament as it is, I would be in favor of doubling up on matches every day to speed up the process and not take too long to get to later matches which people might be more interested in.

If you want to make a new tournament, I wonder if there could be some way to decrease the number of competing artists to say, 16, and pre-screen the artists to hopefully stimulate interest. I'm not sure how polls work on the forums, but maybe we could have people nominate artists/songs like before, make a giant poll with all the nominated artists, and ask people to vote on up to 16 artists that they would like to see compete. This way, the artists that would compete would hopefully be popular/well-known artists that more people would be interested in voting on. Just an idea, let me know what you think.
