gaming Hardest Videogames You've Beaten

Recommended Posts

As gamers, we all have our little accomplishments that we are proud of. Here's the place to brag/respectfully state your gaming achievements. You don't have to be an amazing gamer to participate in the thread. If you've beaten I Want to Be the Guy on a single credit, you can post, and if the only game you've ever beaten is Kirby's Dreamland for the GB, you can post as well.

To make the thread more interesting, you should probably list how a game was hard or rewarding for you to beat. I'll give a small example, and then leave you all too it.

Game: Mega Man X4

Reasoning: Nowadays, I realize this game isn't all that hard. Especially not by other Mega Man game standards. But when I was younger, I was terrible at videogames and could barely beat any of them. Not even the easy ones! X4 was the first legitimately difficult game I owned, and it shoved my face in the playground dirt. It took me years just to beat more than a single level. And once I finally did beat the game in middle school, it opened a floodgate, and the next few years were spent diligently conquering all the games I had given up on previously. No other game trained me to be a good gamer in the same way that X4 did.

It's an important quality to never give up and to keep going at it :)

I think that's one thing that games have taught me most, and it was really good to take those skill's into coding where you sjut have to keep on going through, not giving up till you can get your program to work.

I like to think games that are hard to beat has also given me perseverance and p[problem solving techniques so that i try and find new and better way's to beat games :)

Not really sure about the hardest games I've ever completed, but I'm currently progressing through inferno in diablo3 :)

Hardest game I've ever beaten was...

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty Campaign, in brutal mode.

Perhaps Terraria in hardcore character(0 deaths and all three hardmode bosses defeated)

I'd put Mega Man 2, Zelda: A Link To The Past and Super Metroid as three games that were both the hardest and most rewarding to beat.

Hah, I finish those games atleast one time a week, trying to beat the non tool assisted speedrun speed record in the world.

And I got pretty used to them, ever since I got my SNES.

I wanna be the Guy

I Wanna Be the Guy is a fun little game; I've beaten it as well, on the Normal (non-default) difficulty. The majority of the game is just trial and error, but the bosses really give you a run for your money, and are undoubtedly the best part of the game.

I'd put Mega Man 2, Zelda: A Link To The Past and Super Metroid as three games that were both the hardest and most rewarding to beat.

For Mega Man 2, did you beat the American or Japanese version? I ask because the American version added an "Easy" mode as its default "Normal" mode, and made the original Japanese difficulty its "Hard" mode.

I've beat Super Metroid three times now. It's a really fun game, but sometimes the lack of direction really pisses me off. Specifically, everything regarding Meridia can go drown in an ocean of fire. That zone accounts for 90% of the game's difficulty, and is overall just horribly designed in comparison to the rest of the game.

Never managed to beat the final dungeon in Link to the Past. Sad, considering it's my favorite game in the Zelda series.

Game: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Reason: Hard as fuck enemies/dungeons/bosses,

cryptic secrets, you spawn at North Castle every time you lose all of your lives, by the time you reach a dungeon you've already been mauled to near death by enemies, DEATH MOTHER-F***ING MOUNTAIN, and THE GREAT F***ING PALACE BUSIFKFOGLKFEWUDLVVVVIDURU.

Now that I've beaten it, I plan on attempting to do so with the Power Glove.

You are a gaming god, and I worship you. No, seriously. I've never managed to beat anything but the first and second dungeon in that game. I don't know how you did it.

Beaten ALL the Ninja Gaiden games  it was not easy at ALL but after many MANY hours i eventually finished them all 100%. And soon after i got the worst thumb cramp in the history of the universe

ALL? Meaning, the NES trilogy as well as the reboot trilogy? Dang. I've only ever played the NES games, and I've never managed to beat any of them. I'm actually very good at the first Ninja Gaiden game, but I've never been able to beat the final boss. Damn cheap checkpoint system.

Mortal Kombat.Don't know why but i couldn't finish the story. The characters get harder and harder.

Took me a month to actually finish it 0_0.

I take it you mean the PS3/360/Vita game? Yeah, that story mode gets insane difficult later on. Especially Shao Kahn. I had to look up a strategy online to be able to beat him the last few times you fought him.

---

Okay, time for me to list another game I've beaten.

Game: Devil May Cry (PS2) on Normal (Not Easy-Automatic)

Reasoning: Do I need to give a reason why I'm proud of this? Holy crap, this game kicks so much ass, in every sense of the word. I thought I would never beat this one, but I somehow managed to after playing the game for about a week straight, leveling up Dante and figuring out the winning strategies for each boss. And STILL the game refused to go down easily! The last few bosses in the game leading up to the climax are just complete assholes, but it was so satisfying to beat them.

Hardest game ever beaten: Kaizo Mario World.

Reason: Even with save states, this game is nearly impossible (although I can actually get through the first 3 stages without them.) It was either this or QWOP, but I can actually beat QWOP now easily while Kaizo is still and will always be a nightmare.

I've beaten over two thousand games in my liftime so it's hard to remember some of the harder ones...

  • Dark Souls
  • Parasite Eve: The Third Birthday on Insanely Hard
  • The Last Remnant
Just a few more recent ones that I can remember for now.

The Only Game I may find the Hardest that I Ever beaten was

Game: Startropics (NES)

Reason: Well ever since I Left off or Got Stuck at Chapter 8, The Final Chapter of the Game, I had problems with the enemies on that Chapter and it's mostly likely the ones in the Reactor Room, but as For the final Boss, it can get annoying for me, but I did manage to get through with this chapter, the Final Boss, and the game.

Oh goodness, how about Dark Souls? That game is brutal, unforgiving, and just plain ridiculous. Every so often a troll will put a message on the ground and it will trick you into a trap. Not to mention that it seems like every time I trade my human points to revive my humanity I always seem to run into something horrible right after. Yeah, seriously, fuck that game. I beat it, but it was no easy task, not at all.

Yes, it was the American version. I noticed the Hard mode on that one but only tried it once or twice. I'd add Super Mario World as a hard game to beat.

Oh wow, I love that game to death, but I've never been able to beat it. Farthest I've ever gotten was past the inside of the whale.

Super Mario World is VERY hard if you want to beat it completely and thoroughly. When I play it, I just beat Bowser and call it a day. :P

I have one game in mind.. Sadly I have not yet beaten it but I'm working on it.

It's a platformer and it keeps getting more and more frustrating (and fun) for each level you manage to beat.

It also has 4 player co-op and you play as cute cats who basically can murder each other by jumping on each others heads while trying to complete each level. If one cat makes it then everyone makes it.

I've seen Nova and Sp00n's playthrough of (I haven't seen PewDiePie and Cry's, though). They haven't beaten it, but it looks pretty hard from what I've seen

I haven't played any game that is really hard EXCEPT for Super Meat Boy. I'm currently stuck on the Chapter 2 Boss, and this level keeps screwing me over :(. I feel that I'm getting close to finishing the level, but I keep dying and dying and dying.

It's probably gotta be Tomb Raider Chronicles. The controls were a bit clunky and the fact that the game rarely gave you a hint on what to do next made the whole ordeal that much more difficult.
