I am a plushie maker and I had some questions about your preferences on custom handmade plushies. Feel free to comment on anything I didn't address. :D Thank you!

I am keeping the votes anonymous. Just trying to figure out what would sell the best. I will hopefully be taking plushie commissions on here soon.

I didn't know you could sell things safely on DeviantArt or MLPForums. You'd probably end up both knowing each others address. Ebay and Etsy are much safer in that respect. You can always post your work here and then sell it on Etsy or Ebay.

I apologize for any inconvenience but for the time being my MLP stop motion project is on hold.

Well no matter how you sell you would share addresses. I have sold on Ebay and DA so far but not on Esty or here. You need permission so sell things on here and I don't really know how that works. You can get in trouble promoting a sale on another site here too. I have had posts edited because I included a link to my DA and Ebay. Which kinda sucks if you want to sell here but are not allowed yet.

I'm apologize. Maybe I don't quite understand the mechanics of the selling. I didn't know you could even sell things here, as I said. Maybe you should figure out the mechanics of selling things here before asking if you should sell here. (Then again, what do I know?)

I am in the process of figuring things out for selling on here but I am also seeing what people would want more of in their plushies. When I make them I want them to sell not sit on my shelf. I already have quite a few "rough" ones that my daughter plays with. :)

Am I the only one who would pay $100 or more for a decent plushie? Sure that's a tad expensive but you have to think about the cost of supplies plus the labor and time that goes into it. If you want something decent but don't want to pay more than $25, you might as well buy the official ones from Walmart.

Regarding my preferences for materials and method of applying eyes/Cutie Marks, I would prefer minky and machine embroidery. In my opinion, minky is closer to mimicking fur and feels softer, therefore more cuddleable. (yes, I just made that up) The reason I prefer machine embroidery versus hand embroidery or applique is because, in my opinion, it just looks more professional and realistic. Iron on is just out of the question for me. If I pay for handmade plushie, I want something that will look nice and last a long time.

Of course there's no right or wrong way to do it, and this is all just my personal preferences. If you're going for a certain style, different materials and/or methods might actually look better. For example, I could see how fleece and applique might go well together.

As for where to sell your plushies, I would try eBay, but that's just because that's what I'm most familiar with. Personally, if I were looking for a plushie, I would check all those places you have listed until I found the one I wanted, so it really doesn't matter where it comes from.

Uhm, I'm not planning on buying a plushie unless it's well made and cheap. (Which is impossible since the well made ones are expencive)

I'm not really sure if I answered the questions correctly because I have no clue what the difference between Machine Embroidery, Hand Embroidery, Applique is. Neither do I know what Minky is. But google images helped me a little bit.

Thank you for taking the time to help me out everypony. :) I do plan on getting an embroidery machine at some point but $300 is alot to save up for. Until I am able to get one I will be doing fleece/felt applique eyes and hand embroidery.

That explains then, I was always wondering why there where no link's in your posts!

Yeah...I would love to post the links to my DA or Ebay. But I figure just saying it is on ebay lets people know that you can buy it if you go search for it. I do have a link to my DA in my signature but you know.... I guess I should have given an explanation on what applique was...whoops. I did just finish a Rainbow Dash That will be on ebay shortly. :)

Thank you for offering up some good-quality plushies to sell in the near future. I've seen the Wal-Mart ones and they are quite bad. Cheap cloth, the ponies look too babyish and are all the same, their hair is just several strands of multicolored fabric...bottom line, they are a fly-by-night product and not worth their $11.97 price. I want the ponies to actually look like the ponies. At the same time, though, there's a limit to how much I would pay for a good plushie. I would say $40 is the maximum. Some of us are students with menial or no jobs, and others with their own bills to pay (like me) are under even more pressure to save money.

Man i want to buy a plushie so bad, but i lost my job, so i'm tight on cash... plus my parents don't know the extent of which i like the merch... even though i have a ton... they don't know i own anything.

One day.. One day...

That's too bad. It really does suck when you lose your job. Well whenever I am allowed to take commissions on here. I will gladly make you one. I generally try to keep my prices low since the reason I started making them was because I could not afford a nice looking one for my daughter.
