How to make it 'big' or be 'famous' in the pony fandom?

Seriously. How DO you make it big in the pony fandom? Is there any sort of special magic trick to it? I'm not good at art case in point, I'm not an artist. I like to write though. Maybe I could make it big as a fan-fic author.

 

There are several categories, so-to-speak.

 

Fan-fics (OH THE FAN-FICS)

 

Music. (Haven't really looked into this skill much).

 

Animation. (Now THIS I'm curious about.)

 

Music videos (eh...)

 

Comics (four panel/4komas are the most common, can't you agree? I have yet to find an ongoing my little pony manga, or webcomic, correct me if I'm wrong, please provide links...)

 

Fan-art

 

Plush toys

 

Custom Figurines

 

I've seen these throughout websites like the mlp forums, equestria daily, DA, YouTube, etc. etc.

 

Though how do they do it? How do you get big? Maybe we should make a special topic section dedicated to tutorials on how to get more famous or whatever.

 

NOTE: If anyone has a problem with 'fame' or 'popularity'. I want people to give me feedback on my works, I want people to to listen to me and watch or read my works. I work hard on the things I make such as AMVs and fan-fictions.

 

So don't you think feedback would be nice? Yeah, so more subs or followers or watchers can get you that feedback, the more followers, subs, or watchers you have the most likely you'll get more feedback.

I think, if we're talking about fanart and whatnot-related things, that a large portion of becoming famous is to post work regularly, be a pretty cool guy/gal, and just be pretty good at whatever it is you're doing.

 

When we're talking about all these kinds of fanarts that you mentioned, people will have different opinions and will like different things, so it's difficult to say "Post some good work", because "good" will be differently categorised by different people. The main key is consistency. If you make and post things regularly, then you will gain a few fans. Those fans will help you gain more fans by introducing their friends and yada yada yada. While doing this, you will also gain more skill in doing whatever it is you're doing from the practice of always making something to share in the fandom, which will make it even more likely that people will follow you. One of the worst turn-offs is an artist that randomly leaves/stops their work, and comes back every 89428924 years to post one little thing. I again need to emphasise being a cool person. If you make friends by being a generally enjoyable person to be around, your friends will probably follow your work out of interest.

What Crona said. You just work. Work hard, and maybe, you'll get your chance. Always stay cool regardless of the situation, if you don't seem to make it after some time, don't lose hope. Persevere and you shall triumph. And also, be happy for those you DID please whenever you showed something to anyone else. If a lot of people weren't able to see it, or not as much as you hoped, don't be sad, especially if the few that did totally loved your work, and be grateful to those who did. Feel very proud on those occasions. And if nothing happened, then try again on something else. Some might have gotten lucky when they got famous, but you MUST maintain a very persistent head if you don't manage to get as much as you wanted. Eventually, with hard and good work, you'll get it . And it's also a plus to be original. If it's really good and original, you should have a better chance, or at least that's my belief .

well i think becoming famous show never be a primary goal. all that rely matters is you're doing something you want to do for you own enjoyment and if you gather an audience of people who also enjoy what you do, its all good and maybe you become well known and famous for your work.

its hard to become famous and if u do u may have to sacrifice some of the things u like like if u do animation long nights very little sleep ive tried that fan art isn't that hard but even then after drawing lot your wrist and hand will start it hurt i make music i find it the easiest at lest for me and ive been making music 4 the past month month in a half and now matter how hard u try u may never become famous but that doesn't mean u can't try

The more famous you are, the less people care about your privacy.

 

Although if you want it that bad, I would advise you to use every possible way to spread the word of your works, and stuff like that.

I actually don't really want to be famous either, I just want some decent feedback from others, and I know that you kinda have to be somewhat popular to get decent feedback. I have 56 watchers on DA though hardly any of them comment on a new thing that submit.

 

13 followers on tumblr, 14 subs on YouTube and almost none of them comment.... so yeah... I try though, I don't really want to be famous, I just want feedback so that way I can know how I'm doing and whether or not the stuff I post is good or worth other's time.

The main fact of becoming famous is to never say that your going to become famous. Most people that got famous weren't expecting it at all. I guess just find something that your good at.

I argree with many people saying that never expect to be famous, some people have mad skills, like music, art, animation and whatnot, but what about the people that want to get known but don't have any talent?

they do vlogs on youtube about their (brony) life, they can use their personalities (if they are funny, or interesting) to have ponies entertained , but they have to keep humble about it, if they are grateful to their followers they may become famous ...the same for the artists when they want to submit art, fics, music etc. to keep a humble attitude and they may become famous as well

If you WANT to become famous on a forum, there is a reason why it never happens.

You don't just "become" famous on a website where there is only discussion.

You have to spark to many people's interest, be a cool/funny guy, and just be a good person.

 

If you want to believe you are famous on the forum, it's not a good sign of character xD

Wow this topic really has grown since I ate lunch a few minutes ago O.o! XD

 

Anyway, I love mlp I do, maybe I do want to get featured on EQD someday, but my main point is: I KNOW that I'm good I just need a little extra help here and there. Kinda understand what I'm saying? Like, sometimes I'm a little lazy and I need an extra helping hand.

 

I love to write, I love to make comics (I like collaborative projects, I don't draw, I suck at art, I do the writing and then the next person does the art). I also love animation (again I'm no artist but I love to write for it.)

 

So yeah... tutorials, or something to help me out. Anyone... interested?

 

I want to get noticed in the pony fandom and I want feedback from others but lets say, I need an artist to help me draw comics, I might need a co-writer to help me start a fan-fiction because I'm kinda under writers block right now.

 

So I want to form a team of people that are like making my little pony fan projects or something? Whoever's willing.

Right. I contacted the forums, I also mentioned- there are places on YouTube, DA, and other sites that post great tutorials where you can just link them. I don't know, is making a video sever for the forums even possible? Like, if someone were to upload videos to the forums, would that be possible? We could upload our tutorials to a YouTube channel and then link them to the tutorial's section?

Because I find it hard that there is a lack of artists (of whatever kind) in this fandom, and neither I expect it to happen on the most known MLP forum. What do you think? I think this is something we could ask the moderators, Feld0, the members who have been in here for the longest time what do they think. Or something like that. Maybe a poll?

hmmm no, I think the fandom has plenty of artists, too much good artworks, shitons of music, great animations, games, whaterver you call, you have it, the lack is in the forums, remember that this forums is not the fandom, it's just part of it, but I don't understand what kind of poll you want to make.
